showing the before (unphotoshopped) and after really helps! i think so many clients dont value the post editing and a camera is not the definitive 100% end result :,)
I bought the neweer soft box you have mentioned and i just received it. It turned out to be an umbrella for flash light. Couldn’t attach it to my fv150 nor the sl60w. Not sure what to do now as i need the 37inch softbox that cane get attached easily to eithe of my lights. Thanks
You need a modifier that has a bowens mount for the fv150 and SL60w. Double check the photo and description when purchasing gear to ensure it’s the right one you need and it fits your light. If you definitely bought a softbox (and not an umbrella) maybe the supplier sent you the wrong one? I’d double check your order and the description of the product.
I usually have my light on the right hand side and it's directed at the products. As the scene is quite small in terms of space and my softbox is large, the light also lights up the background at the same time.
I have a Canon m50 camera with a 15-45mm default lens and always get unsatisfactory results when taking product photos, do I have to change lenses or do I have to buy lighting? Thanks before 😄
I typically use my flash strobes for small product, but this is excellent how small products can be lit with RGB LED lights like Aperture and SL60, and also window light. I certainly learned a lot here and I will try continuous light not just flash. Thanks! Wondering how much you use continous light sources vs. flash softbox these days for product? Is it 50/50?
Sometimes yes but often no as I love working with shadows. It totally depends on the kind of look you’re going for. If you didn’t want any hard shadows you would use 2 soft boxes 😊
Hi Amanda, thank you for the video. Im also based on Brisbane beginning photographer, looking for a compact backdrop setup. Do you have any recommendation? Cheers
Could I just use portable bicolor pocket lights to get the same effect? Instead of having the softbox? Also can you attach a pocket light to a softbox?
Amanda, your chanel is perfect! Your communication is clear and informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I have a question though: do you think just one of these two lights are enough for jewelry photography? Jewelry is small so i guess one light may be enough. Which one of two godox lights do you recommend for jewelry? Thank you a lot
Hi Amanda, can you pls suggest me what kind of softbox should I buy for product photography? I mean what shape? A shop keeper suggested me to go for octa softbox but I have never heard about it so please help
I believe you have to buy the stand separately. When you view the product on Amazon/Ebay etc it will tell you in the description if a stand is included or not :)
In this tutorial I’m not using flash with the aperture lights. If you’re using with flash you’d have to turn your flash intensity down or use a larger light
Hi Amanda! Thank you for sharing this video, this is so helpful. I am wondering did you purchase the stand for your GODOX FV150 separately? Did the Newer soft box come with a stand?
I just got started. I have a newer ring light, a nikon d7000, a white umbrella. A diy light box, (made with white foam paper &cardboard box) & 2 very large wooden backdrops. When I say hard. hahaha.
Radha personally I love pedestals for props for small items. It really depends on what kind of look and aesthetic you’re trying to achieve. I would use the texture of the scrub as well and take some out of the tub and maybe do a smear of the product. 😊
I loved! I found your channel today and I'm going to watch all the videos. I have a doubt about the last lighting, did you use godox's continuous light along with mini led or did you trigger the godox flash?
Thanks so much for watching! 🙏 in this video I’ve only used continuous lighting but now I usually only use strobe with maybe a continuous light for fill if I need it 😊
@@amandacampeanu I think if you want to freeze motion, then a more powerful strobe is going to be beneficial and one can use the modelling lamp to simulate the image.

Thanks for sharing all this info :) I've just bought my own setup and was wondering how much natural light is in your scene? Do you have curtains closed or do you let a little natural light in?
You’re so welcome! Sometimes I will have them open and others time not. I’m using strobe now so I’m able to have them open or closed and still get nice light. It also depends on how your window and natural light interact with your products and if they create unwanted reflections.
Thanks so much for the tips! So what happen with shooting white items on white background? I tried it and the photo came out dark even if I have super bright light, and if I photoshop it to make photo light the natural reflection of the item is gone . It’s a white crystal bracelet with blue reflection
Keep practicing! It's taken me so much time to learn my craft and I'm still learning and experimenting with things 3 years down the track. Just be patient with yourself and keep trying :)
I don't understand why so many photographers feel the need to edit their photos. I understand if you are layering your shots like you did - but if you take the picture right the first time there is no need for any post production work accept for cropping or centering. I use a Canon Rebel T8i and I shoot wirelessly tethered, I immediately see my shot on my 3rd monitor and I can make any adjustments (ISO, exposure compensation, f/stop etc.) with the Canon EOS software. No post production editing needed. Maybe I'll have to move a light but that's all. Great video & congrats to you for making a name for yourself as a brand photographer! You sure do make those products look spectacular!
I think in the world of commercial photography where the photos are being taken for specific advertising purposes (which is the industry I’m in), editing greatly enhances a photo to make it so much more eye catching than a RAW image. If you saw some of my before and afters you’d probably think the before photos look terrible haha. And no one would even be stopped in their scroll to look at the image. Post production is also an expression of creativity as well as you can do so much with an image in editing. It’s very rare that a photo doesn’t need further editing when it comes to commercial work 😊

Absolutely! Sooo much work goes into editing just one photo. People won’t realise this unless they actually do it themselves.

do the Godox lights come with the stand/tripod ? or is that something we have to buy separately? thanks!
