@@sallowsquallsofficial6781 the musical was very self aware and tried to make it clear that beetlejuice wasnt a pedo, he just needed to marry her to keep her around him
I just watched the musical.... And this was recommended to me. I refuse to partake to this discussion. Bye, I shall block everything that have something to do with shipping a child and a creepy old ghost.
I grew up with this cartoon and always thought they would end up together. Why is it so hard for people to understand? We didn't see it as pedophilia, we saw it as a story about an adolescent girl capable of summoning an otherworldly ghost guy who takes her on wild adventures, which is an attractive fantasy to just about any adolescent girl. It would be surprising if we didn't ship them, and I think we probably would have even without the hints put into the show itself. That's all this "ship" is a manifestation of. Young viewers of the cartoon at the time did not (usually) logically contemplate the ages of the characters, they just thought "How cool would it be to have a ghost/demon guy best friend who looks out for me", which naturally leads to imagining them romantically connected, especially if the viewer is of an age where romantic ideations are starting to crop up. I never once thought about Lydia's age or Beetlejuice's age; they were just cute cartoon characters who had great chemistry. Those of us who imagine these two as a couple never imagined "an old man hitting on a little girl"; that's disgusting, and that's not the dynamic between the two characters at all. We either imagined them without a discrepancy in age (because kids watching cartoons in the 90s did not overanalyse the characters the way people do on the internet today) or we imagined that they would end up together once Lydia was a little older and started dating. People implying that this "ship" is somehow associated with pedophilia are disturbed and lack any understanding of childhood innocence or the way blossoming adolescence shapes our perceptions of fictional characters.
Well yeah but I think the whole point is that you’re not a kid anymore?? Like if you’re telling me you retain the same mindset you had when you were a kid, that’s concerning. Sincerely, a girl about the same age as Lydia who is scared around people like you
I can ship them platonicly and there's a thing. BJ will not ever get old, because he's dead. But Lydia will be older, so their relationship could be something in a fictional future.
@@BarlicinhaYes, but is this a problem? Lydia's mental maturity is also far above her age. And when she became a grown young woman, BJ can rock her out!
Beetlejuice to a dead con man from the Dark Ages (supposedly), Lydia is teenage Queen of Goths. They both want a friend who understands them. No matter how you look at them: they somehow work!
ppl walked into a channel called SHIPPING GOGGLES and and a video title with 'beetlyds' and are shocked that the added captions are shippy?? bahahah I have beetlebabes goggles on though after the BJ sequal so I love it
Why are y'all so pissed? It's supposed to be a fun little joke. And in the Beetlejuice musical, they get 'married' remember? It's just to have fun. Stop taking everything so seriously.
Pretty half-ass joke considering he's a grown ass man being shipped with a child🤣, just because they where married in a completely different move franchise from this one doesn't make it any better if that what your trying to get at💀,
I SWEAR I’VE SEEN THIS SHOW BEFORE! I only remember one episode. It was one where Lidia’s mom and dad end up in some “awful” tower and are almost beheaded or some shit. I need to find the name of that episode.
Same here. I never knew Beetlejuice even had a show. All I knew about it was just the movie. Other then that it came to me as a surprise to see that it has a show.
It's as if people don't realize an immortal/undead warrants different romance rules than ordinary mortal humans. BJ probably looks like a Creepy Old Guy because that's the manifestation of his personality, and if Lydia lives long enough she'll start to look older than him. Basically, age is almost non-existent on the immortals' side. Meanwhile, there's no "growing into" a middle-aged human.
This. This is exactly what most people miss. You can't expect the same rules that apply to normal human relationships to work for a fae/ghost/vampire/deity.
So in a pretty recent Halloween special involving The Teen Titans [Go] in a brief phrase BeetleJuice does say that he has been engaged with what does look like a aged up Lydia
Funny enough... Wionna Ryder (Real life Lydia Deetz) just recently revealed that her idea for Beetle Juice 2? Was that Lydia and Beetlejuice end up together...And I always felt that way after seeing this cartoon.
Obviously, they are a potential couple, not just friends. She's a young girl, not an immature child. She looks older than 16. Yes, he's obviously older, but he's not an old man. Besides, he looks and behaves like an immature guy, he doesn't look like an adult uncle. Yes, he's not really alive, but he can still get a green card! Besides, Lydia is not an ordinary girl. She's special. In general, they could be together in the near future. And yes - this is a fictional story.
I always loved this ship! Considering Lydia will age while BJ probably not, the age problem will be eventually resolved. Also several writers on the show have confirmed that their romantic relationship was deliberately invoked, so HECK YEAH I'M SHIPPING HARD ♥️♥️♥️
There needs to be a more up-to-date series TV-14 of a nearly legal Lydia and Beetlejuice where you can watch them go from Platonic to Romantic over the course of three years. Even though people deny it, EVERYONE that loves the movie and show ships them at least a little. I know I do, but not with this 12-year-old version of Lydia.
Sincerely, a girl about the same age as Lydia who is scared around people like you
6:24 when you get friend zoned with someone you like. Lmao 😂
*Me sitting here with full knowledge of the fact that we just bought the entire series on DVD*
I can ship them platonicly and there's a thing. BJ will not ever get old, because he's dead. But Lydia will be older, so their relationship could be something in a fictional future.
On my opinion Bj can get older even dead. His body do not change but his age and his mind dont reset every year. Do you understand my logic?
@@BarlicinhaYes, but is this a problem? Lydia's mental maturity is also far above her age. And when she became a grown young woman, BJ can rock her out!
2 dollars a hour wouldnt be worth babysitting
Sometimes it feels like nothing is worth babysitting idek how people can deal with children
@@maddiebargeron586 I just draw for them and pretend that I’m getting paid for that instead of watching a kid
@@sixfeetundertheradar6080 wow this actually the best idea def gonna start doing this now
It was a lot of money back then.
Show’s from the 80’s
Beetlejuice to a dead con man from the Dark Ages (supposedly), Lydia is teenage Queen of Goths. They both want a friend who understands them. No matter how you look at them: they somehow work!
Bruh I laughed so hard at the balloon explosion, it was unexpected 😆
I have the whole series on DVD.
Same and I love it 😊
Hand it over 🤲
Hand it over
Same!
@@artlygalkd3502 You get 2 episodes as bonus features with the DVD release.
People in this comment section are so dumb, it's just a cartoon. And they make a great ship indeed.
why do i keep coming back to this video just to watch the first 15 seconds?
sup milkman, still coming here?
This would be cute if she was 18+
I was today years old when I realized prince Vince was a nod to one of Tim Burton's first films, Vincent
“ broke n^^^a alert “😭😭😭😭
For real I thought for a second that was the show
THAT PART KILLED ME
Literally had me fucking falling over laughing good job 😂
Is it wrong that I want this to happen in a third movie? It's just too enthralling 🤗
Ну не знаю не знаю в третьей части Может у него и получится всё таки жениться на ней Хехе
All of the shocked comments are wild. Guys. He tries to marry her in the movie the cartoon is based on i
Love how this managed to capture the energy of the movie and put it into a series
ppl walked into a channel called SHIPPING GOGGLES and and a video title with 'beetlyds' and are shocked that the added captions are shippy?? bahahah
I have beetlebabes goggles on though after the BJ sequal so I love it
I ship it,but with lidia being 18+
damn, lot of children here pissed abt a ship that's existed almost 3x longer than they've been alive lmao
3:21 I still find this to be the most funniest shit ever 😭
*I CANNOT INHALE OXYGEN HELP*
Bruh
“Nothing strange EVER happens to me!”
That might’ve been the biggest lie he told that entire episode lol
They're awkward besties at the most, with bj being the chaotic simp and Lydia being the one who puts up with it all the time
They are not lovers.

Season 2, episode 4 "Scummer Vacation"
Didn't know there was a tv show until today. Only knew about the movie.
Same here. I never knew Beetlejuice even had a show. All I knew about it was just the movie. Other then that it came to me as a surprise to see that it has a show.
There's a musical, too.
@@BoredomBee cool!
I used to watch it when I was in preschool... I feel so old now 😅
They also have comics!
They are married, your honor
Imagine if the Mask and Beetlejuice meet
So in a pretty recent Halloween special involving The Teen Titans [Go] in a brief phrase BeetleJuice does say that he has been engaged with what does look like a aged up Lydia
She didn't just "look like", It WAS aged up Lydia
Again I say, Beeltejuice and Lydia as besties is just downright *WHOLESOME AND CUTE*
Funny enough... Wionna Ryder (Real life Lydia Deetz) just recently revealed that her idea for Beetle Juice 2? Was that Lydia and Beetlejuice end up together...And I always felt that way after seeing this cartoon.
bro shes a minor-
The real question is who the fuck is someone paying someone 2 dollars an hour to babysit
that was good money in the 80s for a teen
2:03 " I'll tell ya, Babes. I'm beside myself" 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 а да его лучше не злить он очень страшен в гневе хехе
Is this where Alex got the inspiration for the voice that he used in the muscle😂
Actually, I think so. In the musical they kept the movie’s plot but I think they based Beej more on the cartoon personality. (Which is understandable)
So why are 50 year old women allowed to call anyone 'babes' platonically but a century old demon ghost cant?
Obviously, they are a potential couple, not just friends. She's a young girl, not an immature child. She looks older than 16. Yes, he's obviously older, but he's not an old man. Besides, he looks and behaves like an immature guy, he doesn't look like an adult uncle. Yes, he's not really alive, but he can still get a green card! Besides, Lydia is not an ordinary girl. She's special. In general, they could be together in the near future. And yes - this is a fictional story.
Beetlejuice is like 600+ years old and Lydia is 13

I read ur bio on this vid and I LMAOOO because it’s golden 😂 I adore these two being together and I donut care what anyone thinks ♥️
Yes Officers, this comment right here.
Ok guys, fight of the century here, Beetlejuce vs Deadpool..Lady Deadpool here, well my money is on the ghost with the most guys!
I always loved this ship! Considering Lydia will age while BJ probably not, the age problem will be eventually resolved. Also several writers on the show have confirmed that their romantic relationship was deliberately invoked, so HECK YEAH I'M SHIPPING HARD ♥️♥️♥️
3:13 ok but this is so cute
My dynamic duo. I love them 🖤👻
I loved this show lol. Lydia reminds me of my ex goth gf, it’s bittersweet.
I'd like it better if she were a week away from her 18th birthday.
Not Prince Vince being depressed while Beetlejuice is happy that Prince Vince is depressed 😂😂 6:28
It’s kinda weird to see it as relationship but I remember always seeing it a platonic thing even the nicknames
several writers on the show have confirmed that their romantic relationship was deliberately invoked, and Tim Burton shipped them too.
@@prufantim burton is also a well known creep 😭😭
I like the part where Beetlejuice says "Babes"
