Note to narrator: Great read, just one tiny pronunciation correction. "Cowpitate", which I've heard said on this channel a few times recently and shows up at the end of this video in the Rapper's Delight lyrics, is actually "Kaopectate" the upset stomach medicine. I'm sure most of you figured that out but my neurodivergence can't seem to let it go.
It's Kay-oh-peck-tate but it does look like the kao should be pronounced like cow.

My stepdad was exposed to Agent Orange in the Vietnam war. He has no sense of smell (and a very dull sense of touch). He literally cannot tell if something is expired so we sniff food for him a lot or run to stop him from eating something gone bad. Luckily he doesn’t really cook. Never realized just how important that sense is. I also smelled gas and realized there was a leak in the house so that got fixed. He had no idea.

3 min in and I can't handle this. The amount of people just " being polite " or thinking they are being rude, are actually just allowing their family members to put themselves and others at risk. It seriously a health risk. ESPECIALLY the elderly, children, and immuno-suppressed friends \ relatives, I shouldn't have to remind how vulnerable these people are...

49:10 is the craziest to me. Like, friend, I know abuse and peer pressure are a heluva thing, but that weirdo didn't actually FORCE you to eat the expired shrimp, you know? He didn't shove it down your throat, and he was a friend of a friend so you could have stood up to him when he insisted that a complete stranger's food intolerances weren't real. You didn't have your mom or boss there ready to punish you. You literally had a friend who had your back, to a point.
I'm socially awkward too, like a lot, but your options were making one dude mad and looking slightly picky in front of acquaintances (because FRIENDS would understand why) or barfing your guts out at a school dance. How is that even a choice?! Just say you're not hungry! You gotta have some self respect!
I guess I could technically call myself "intolerant" of shellfish because I find almost anything that comes from the sea inedible and nausea-inducing due to its inherent fishiness, and there is almost NO wrath I would not face if it would save me from food poisoning from f*cking expired shrimp of all things! Like I guess there is theoretically a situation where I would feel so cowed that I would eat some, but I honestly can't think of one.
Also, shrimp? What happened to cuckoo woowoo dude being vegan?
Holy CRAP. Sorry. That rant went WAY longer than the original I posted as a regular comment.

2:20 turkey and chicken can be pink and cooked enough. It takes cooking them at a lower temperature than most people do, but as long as it’s internal temperature at least 165F, it’s safe to eat. Also smoked turkey will always be pink.
I’m not discrediting OP’s story, that story is blatantly undercooked, if not raw, turkey. OP’s mom probably just didn’t know any of the tricks to keeping it from drying out so she undercooked it to get the skin and cooked but not dry breast meat.

I work at a casino and stories 9 & 10 apply even in casinos, I am EVS/Housekeeper, so yes I do the cleaning along with my other EVS coworkers, we wipe down the machines with disinfectant but compared to the hundreds of machines and hundreds of people that touch those machines, our cleaning cannot keep up with the vast hundreds of people who use the restrooms and do NOT wash their hands, and yes this applies to women too, not just men! If I had to caculate a percentage I would say around 96% of men and around 89% of women do NOT wash their hands after using the restrooms, I only give that estimate because the casino I work at is a small one compared to others, I have to clean both men and women's restrooms. So yes for those that like to gamble, guess what? Most machines you are touching are covered in piss germs, despite our wiping it down. Like I said EVS can't keep up with the vast hundreds of people that touch those machines within an hour and we can't spend our whole shift wiping down machines, we got other duties to attend to. So yes piss germs are rampant in any and all casinos no matter how fancy and clean they look on the surface.

To the chocolate and peanut butter. Funny to say I think I know this one. My ex's dad got sick during COVID. His got abroad visiting family when the lock down happen. She did all the cooking and shopping. So when he got "stuck" on his own, he didn't know what to do. He ended up eating a jar of peanut butter that formally was used for mouse traps. So he got sick. My ex came to his rescue though I was still used to cooking in large batches so we had many individual bags of home made frozen dinners which he brought to him.
I cooked large batches because just before meeting me ex I was a single mom with my oldest daughters and 2 grandchildren living with me. Now it was just 3 of us.
One place I only ate once at was my aunty and cousins place. They both smoked in their home and had lived there for about a decade. Everything they cooked tasted like an ashtray 🤮.

I took various cooking classes in high school, and in each of them we had proper hygiene drilled into us, ranging from recognizing cross contamination to teaching us the habit to wash our hands even if we did something as simple as touching our face or hair. Girls with long hair also weren't allowed to cook until they tied their hair back or wore a hair net (this also applied to guys with long hair). We also had to memorize the times and temperatures of cooking meat, and how to properly label and store food. And if we ever had food that wasn't labeled and were unsure how old it was, we were taught, "when in doubt, throw it out." It really isn't that hard to be clean and hygienic when preparing food.

This collection was rough! My mother-in-law is one of those who often has expired foods in her fridge and cupboards. My husband doesn't say anything about it when we're over but if his sisters are there they'll lay into her about it. Understandable since she insists in feeding everyone and no one wants any of us, especially our kids, getting really sick.
Nowadays it's standard practice to get your own items from the fridge and check the expiration dates.

Most of these are legit yuck, but a dog licking a plate before it's properly washed is fine, it will be washed before you use it. It's just as clean as any plate you wash. Some of those plates had raw chicken on them before washing as well, are they gross too? Also, beans sealed in a jar in the closet are home canned. My gramma taught me how and it's usually safer than the ones in the store because companies use chemicals n at home we used heat to seal it. Just make sure the person canning is clean. 😅😂

I went on a youth mission trip one time where we stayed in a church with three other groups of teens from other churches. Each group took turns cooking/washing dishes. I ate the food the first night, but refused after i was on the first dish shift and saw how the other group was dealing with the food & washing. I watched these girls dump full plates of spaghetti and salad into tubs of "water" which was mostly a slurry of tomato sauce, noodles, lettuce, ranch dressing, and soap, then wipe the food off and immediately place these on the rack to dry. The adults on staff watched this and didnt do anything to correct it. The other group got kinda rowdy and started throwing wet spaghetti at each other, and it splattered all over stored food, which was not cleaned. Dishes were still slimed with food residue and soap when they were "done." Cooking utensils too. My youth pastors were annoyed with me for generally being a bad sport on this trip but they were really annoyed with me that I just refused to eat anything cooked in the kitchen. I had bought two packages of red bean mochi in chinatown on my first day and i pretty much only ate those, and pre-packaged chips & apples that came with our lunch for the whole week. I got really hungry and chanced some bread and peanut butter at one point, but Id only use plastic disposable utensils to scoop it out-- i didnt want to put anything in my mouth that had come into contact with any part of that kitchen. It wasnt just the gross spaghetti mess i saw, but the low hygeine standards of the place, and also the fact that I knew that one or two of those nights, those methodist kids throwing spaghetti slop at each other would be cooking for everyone and I didnt fucking trust those clowns

When me and my mom lived with my bio dad, we were in survival mode so there were often bugs in every single room and our kitchen was far from clean. Once we moved out with the help of my grandparents I realized just how dirty the house was. There were swarms of small bugs in the back rooms that made it hard for me to breathe and there was literal dried dog vomit on the floor in the living room. Now a-days I’m not comfortable eating at someone else’s house unless I can see all the rooms because sometimes there’s something hidden just out of sight.

No matter how clean you keep a litter box they're still literally digging around in their own pee and poo and then walking all over every surface in your home. I disinfect every cooking surface before I use it, every time. Cats are smart, smart creatures. Never trust anyone who says "My cat doesn't get on the counter" Because 9 times out of 10 that cat knows to just not get on the counter when there are witnesses.

    My malignant narc mother and my ex;
    1) "mother" thought that you could 'cook the spoil out' of meat. I had gut issues ever since puberty. When I was an adult, she had me pull an obviously spoiled pound of hamburger out of her fridge then demanded that I cook it. I refused. She treated me like I was a snob for refusing to eat it.
    2) My ex (his mother, honestly). He 'preferred' steak dry and leathery. One day after I cooked it on the grill, he commented in surprise, "This is good!" I replied, "This is what steak is supposed to taste like. With juice still in it." Not all dry and leathery. He also 'liked' burned toast. One day during a family get-together, I gave him the job of cooking a ham in a crock pot. He left it in there after the water had cooked down. It was tough and stringy. I told him that's not what ham is supposed to be like. He insisted it was "good" and better that way.
I figure his mother must have burned the crap out of everything they ate, since he 'preferred' burned food to food cooked properly.

The best way to deal with this is to come right out and tell them. You might save someone else from eating their filth and animal droppings and bugs. And who care whether or not they no longer want to be your friend. Just think about what they did or tried to do to you. Family or not. I know people like all those mentioned. Consequently few come to my house and I go to even fewer peoples homes. As its the only way I can still have a bit of respect for them as a person otherwise. I don't want them to bring their bugs with them to my house and I don't want to bring them back to mine. Though I must admit I've had spiders and ants near my door. but not many and not often or constantly. For the record I hate to see it when people allow their dogs to lick the faces of their babies this makes me cringe. I've seen dogs lick their private parts and then the face of babies. And when people justify this by saying a dog's mouth is cleaner than ours. I knew a woman who had allergys and was on all sorts of medications for it. She got so bad she ended up in the hospital and her allergys cleared up. She was allergic to her animals. 2 cats and a dog.

So far this is the only video on this channel that I simply can't watch in its entirety. I gave it my best shot, but just over three minutes in I have to call it quits. Nothing against the channel itself, just.....ewwwwwwwww!
