I have a new unit. There are recommendations to "open the drain plug to drain off residual water." All I see is an open metal tube that does not have a plug nor does it seem to turn one way or the other. Any thoughts appreciated.
I've been trying to compare this one to the Camplux water heater. Did I see correctly that the pump you're using is a 3 GPM pump? I've noticed in the kits that include the pump, they provide a 1.6 GPM, and wasn't sure if adding a 3 GPM pump would make any difference in usage. I'm thinking of adding a splitter on the hot water outlet so I can also provide a water line to a small sink for a faucet to have hot water. Thanks!
What causes these to not stay lit? Full propane tank and about 40 psi of water and it will Only run about 5 seconds at a time and you have to restart it
I've been reading amazon reviews on this unit vs ecotemp. There are a number of reviews where the unit caught fire. Are you at all worried about fire in that wood enclosure? I'm thinking of mounting one of these in a well ventilated shower inside an rv. Nice review.
I have a similar setup with the eccotemp 10 at my offgrid in Ontario. Works amazingly well and super efficient! I wanted to ask about your ventilation, as my system is not enclosed in a cabinet. Are you sure that you have enough air circulation? My unit gets pretty hot when I take an extended shower for instance, and also with a gas unit, things can go boom ;). Anyway great video!
Great to hear! I am thinking of enclosing mine now, as late October just before cottage close, i find it takes time to get the water to its full heat level. Perhaps some insulation in tha cabinet will help.
I have the same heater and want to do a similar setup, do you have to turn the unit off when not in use and then on back again when in need of hot water? Or with the on demand pump it idles without wasting propane?

Thanks for the review. These are on sale right now at Princess Auto for $200
Great video very informative do you think it could be used in a boat setting with right alarm system
Have same on works ok but hard to keep hot water consistent. Also be careful mounting as something made a nest in the baffles causing a flame out

Could I leave the propane tank on while I’m not using water or the propane has to be turned on every time I want to use hot water
You can leave the propane on.
How long does the.gas bottle last ( example how many showers )
a long time! 100 or more

Is this unit restricted to being mounted outside?

Thanks for your comment. We have a 3" gap between the wall of the cabinet and the roof to allow air flow. It is important! !

We do not turn it off. There is no propane used when not in use.
Would you happen to know how long it takes for the unit to cool off after using it?
The exterior never gets hot.
Looks easy
I think its the easiest way to get hot water anywhere.
How much?
