The infamous 2000 Kart of Tomorrow experiment, when the engine power was increased in an attempt to provide higher speed racing to compete with the MUSHCAR Lightning Cup Series (folded into Mario Kart in 2005).
The experiment ended after a massive crash at Royal Raceway that saw metal kart parts fly into the stands and kill 5 spectators. No racers were hurt, though Wario was VERY angry with Bowser, who started the wreck by getting loose.

That was glitch actually. I use a code so nobody including me can use items, but the cpus still bypass it somehow.

What does the speedometer reflect when you display it doing this?

Actually it's pointless displaying the speedometer, it's always top out at 100 km/h despite that I'm going much faster then that.
