    I love the design and the construction techniques. The end result was a beautiful pair of tables that will last for many generations. And so smart to build the pair at the same time!

    These turned out really awesome. One of the reasons I love your channel is your ability to go from detailed mostly hand done pieces like this, to a more "functional" problem in the next ep. Thanks for showing us all the great work!

    Truly inspirational! Beautiful furniture; designed and made with care and consideration of all that matters - the tables present the French Oak at its best and visa versa . This was an example to us all of what is possible when you combine both traditional and more modern techniques and tools - a hard to achieve balance. The video was a joy to watch in and of itself, whilst being a great tutorial for those of us who are inspired by your work. Thank you for all your time, effort and skill in presenting this to us. One of the best examples of a woodworking RUclips video I've ever seen.

      LOL. Awesome reply! Well please don't stop having fun :-) Like so many good RUclipsrs (e.g. Jimmy Diresta et al), you are having a real impact on many of us out here, and helping us perfect our own skills. Particularly by being frank about problems and workarounds as you work through your projects. Many thanks again.

    I LOVE these bedside tables! If ever I were to imagine bedside table from Wonderland I would imagine something along these tables. Though, if they were truly from Wonderland all four legs would be of different lengths and the table top would be a few degrees off true, but things wouldn't roll off because of said Wonderland.
    I hope y'all've been well!
    Love from Florida :)

    Serious question as I don't know anything about hand planes. What's the advantage to using the plane over an orbital or belt sander? Awesome tables as well.

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
      @KingPostTimberWorks  5 лет назад

      A few things, firstly a plane gives a flat surface., it slices the timber as opposed to abrasing it this gives a much silkier finish that doesn't need sanding in most cases. It also removes much more material much faster than a sander. Just takes a little practice

  • @Regishumberto1

    Nice work. Curious did you consider bent lamination for drawer front? Seems the short fibers could be an issue if staining? What you think? Also I like those bench hook clamps. What are they?

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
      @KingPostTimberWorks  7 лет назад

      +Robert hi, yea the short grain could be an issue I guess. I approached this thinking how would they have done it in ye olde times. Just for a bit of fun. Actually easier then laminating and there were no molds to make .

    Thanks for YOUR time and effort in adding filming and editing to the already difficult task of producing these tables. I'm just curious if these were for a client or yourself? Because I think you would never be able to cover the cost of your time or equipment investment in the sale price right? I sometimes do fine work like this for a client if I really like them but it's always a partial donation and purely out of love for the craft.

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
      @KingPostTimberWorks  7 лет назад +4

      +One Man Band Woodworks cheers, yea not selling them for their real worth but this client has ordered 3 other really cool larger pieces which will all cost a few $$$ soo gave them a bit of a break on cost of these and should kinda make it up on the others. But I'm the same sometimes will just do the job because it'll be fun and not make any cash. It's always good for the portfolio too!

    Very nice work. However, I think that you are 90 degrees wrong on your recommendation for grain pattern orientation on the leg blanks. Your recommendation produces an elongated O on the knee of the cabriolet leg. Most makers of period furniture try to avoid this look.

    Why did you plane the drawer bottom to fit the groove instead of cutting a tongue? I've never seen that before.

    • @KingPostTimberWorks
      @KingPostTimberWorks  7 лет назад +1

      hi, i guess the short answer is thats how its done traditionally, much easier to fit it that way then plane a tongue. there are actually planes made just for this job with special fences and stops etc.
