My dad made these rotis and used hot water just as you did. After his passing away none of us could make such rotis. At last I gave it a try as you showed and they turned out great . Thanks for sharing
I am from north karnataka and i remeber my mom making these delicious rotis... Just that the way we make is not with a rolling pin but by thumping em with palms..
Take equal proportions of water and flour. Preferably, add flour to the boiling water on the stove, close and cook for two/three minutes.Later, knead well and make rotis.
I have costly Elica but my maid who cooks roti on iron tawa says the flame in stove is not adequate for jowar roti. Her roti are stored in aluminium foil, and when I have after couple of hours they are not soft & not evenly cooked
Does adding boiling water to the flour destroy any of its nutritional contents? I would presume it would. Could anybody please develop elaborate? Thank you.
I made my jowar flour rotis just yesterday in boiling hot water. Only difference was I kept d aata away for 10-15 minutes after mixing to cool down n then made rotis. They were not as thin as yours n not very round in shape but extremely soft n nice. My question is: does dusting d roti wid *wheat flour* make it easier while rolling wid sides also not tearing?
I’m new to making these, making with the boiled water etc but mine are a bit crisp not at all soft, crack on folding please advise 😢 How thick should the roti be for lovely soft result?
i just stumbled on ur channel to which i hve subscribed 😊👍🤗💟 as i was pleased as punch to learn something new which otherwise was a bit tricky for me ❤️👍🌹 i luved ur simple way of detailed tips & tricks looking forward to learning more 😊
Can please inform me wheather Soyabean Flour Roti is more Nutrional value when we compare with bajra, jowar and ragi flour which is best as per your opinion thanks doctor.
Hello - Huge fan here. If I want to prep in advance is it okay to put the dough in advance? you mentioned we don’t rest it, but what if I am in a rush..
It doesn't work. So many YTube videos show the same Boiling water method but doesn't work at home, it's not even possible to make a uniform ball out of the dough without it breaking off, forget rolling them out without breakage. One has to question the Flour used and if gluten has been added before hand
Just read an article that jowar and wheat are nutritionally comparable. But jowar is gluten free and has a lower glycemic index. Reason enough for me to make the switch. Thank you for the vid! P.S. your sari is lovely ...but i was nervous it would catch fire. Keep that pallu out of the way!!!!❤❤❤❤
How long can jowar or other millet rotis stay soft? These turn hard and dry when packed in lunch boxes or consumed a few hours after making. Atta rotis score high on that convenience. :-)

My mother grand mother made jowar roti everyday and did not have the silicon spatula 🎉😂
Made these rotis today and it turned super soft. Can't believe I made it😂. One query can we store left over dough to make rotis next day.
As per ancient writers , never store the dough over night , it brings daridrata ( unfortunates to family , erodes wealth & health) .
No ,it doesn't work out well that way.
The water on the surface aids in cooking, otherwise will be very ver dry
Why use a silicon spatula than a metal one or wooden one?

How long can jowar or other millet rotis stay soft? These turn hard and dry when packed in lunch boxes or consumed a few hours after making. Atta rotis score high on that convenience. :-)
Apply ghee / butter on the freshly made rotis.
Wrap the rotis in a cotton napkin.
Will stay soft for a few hours.
