I just discovered your channel (discovered the Shorts), and want to say how wonderful it is that you are showcasing the Loomis drawing method.
I thought about having a channel that included drawing for beginners (not just drawing, but how to "observe" and breakdown what they see into the simple bite-sized parts), and develop the skills they want for a stable foundation and springboard for their art, but you have already done that beautifully, (and I don't even have a channel).
So many newbies, students and hobbyists seem to want to learn to draw, but not put the effort in, so they just trace.
Tracing is not going to teach the skill of drawing - Ever.
I see tracing right away in people's art (like portraits of people and pets), and even though the "artists" have stated that they only trace sometimes, after seeing their websites, blog, etc, you can see each and every portrait started off as a tracing.
It's too bad that they just don't take the time to learn the actual art of drawing.
Tracings just lack any life, vibrance, or the dimension that an artist with the "skills to pay the bills" can bring to their art.
Those that do use tracing for everything say that it's "faster", but it's not really, and it always looks very 2-dimensional and void of life.
The only times I have seen tracing of photos look decent, (for portraiture at least) is when the artist, who was already highly-skilled, used it to just layout the placement of the portrait on the paper/canvas, by very roughly sketching in the placeholders for the eyes, width and height of face, ears, etc, but NOT for any details at all, just for a rough placement, then started their color work over it.
But your videos here show how it is easy and possible to learn great drawing methods, and with some time invested in practice, everyone can learn! ❤
