I got one for Christmas one year. My wife’s uncle got it. His son works for a big city near me. They even got me the board you were talking about. It was easy to wire. Mine is hanging in my barn as well.
Sorry about all the comments Rick just been commenting has it been watching the video I accidentally clicked on my own channel and realize I’ve been watching you for eight years now I almost feel like you’re a family member appreciate all your time and knowledge
You going to teach Buddy how to use those lights so he can turn them on when he's hungry? Green for Feed Me, Yellow for Gotta take a Piss, Red for Leave me alone, Stupid Human.
Rick You need an automatic gate at the end of driveway to keep the badges at bay ... rig the lights to go green when you open the gates 😆 Not that It matters , when you paint some items it detracts value .. I kinda like the seconds old patina
You have to take each color to the board separately. And one neutral to all. The led makes your green blue. I made one for my car dealership boss for his car garage with the same board year’s ago. Love your Chanel
That's really cool. As a kid growing up I always looked at everything and just wondered how did it work I guess it would be a good idea to buy it and actually see and learn🎓. Cheaper than buying then buy gun attachments
OMG .....I got in trouble when I was 13 in Napa for stealing the 'new' (at the time) crosswalk signs. I got 30 hours community service for doing it. Remember the crosswalk sign used to say 'Walk or Don't Walk'? It was when they changed the signs to how they look today with either a man walking or a hand in red for stopping. It took me a couple of passes by before I actually got it. I got it and was so proud. I used to steal street signs all the time, as a teen. When Bon Jovi came out with their 'Slippery When Wet' album, the Bay Area was replacing A LOT of those street signs. Today, they use those bolts that expand in the back so if you want the sign, you have to take the pole with it. LOL😁😆
Those darn screw connector strip (or what they called) are a pain in the butt, I work on a lot of gear that have them, power supplies and such and the screw/treads are none standard and of course always missing as the idiots that remove them and send the gear in for repair always loose them.... There are of course the rare exception, but normally no standard metric or Imperial screw will fit and they also always different from one terminal to another... Ahh man it gets frustrating! xD Nice project Rick and I really admire you knot skills, that rope hanging system you created there was really nicely done! Have a nice weekend traffic signal folks.
Pretty cool. I like buying odd things like this. Love antiques and antique vehicles. Leave the second original as possible, I know the wiring has to be replaced but I'm not sure I'd paintit at all.
Rick clean it up and see how it looks rubbed down with some boiled linseed oil + mineral spirits, you can't redo decades of patina if you paint it. Besides, you have to jack up 2 corners of your garage now to level that flag!
I came across an old octagon, stamped stop sign, original color black on yellow. I've always liked it more than just a little. Seems like everybody and their cousins have the red reflective number laying around somewhere. Also have a Whiskey RD street sign from Vigo Park Texas. Apparently there was a Methodist church on the road and parishioners petitioned to have the name changed. A buddy at the right time right place said, "hey can I have that?" during replacement, now part of the collection.
They switched to LED up here in n northern IL. Great for energy usage, bad for melting snow off the lens. I watched a loaded school bus go right through the intersection because the snow covered the lens and did not melt.
I like the yellow and black I also think green would be nice. I would not do red. But when it comes down to it it's what you like, they are your lights.
I wouldn’t hang that light horizontal... I would put it on a pole and stand it up vertical by the circle.😉🤷♀️ Best place to flash the hood!😜 You, Mr.T and Buddy can learn to play red light green light. 🤣
We had an old traffic light in my town and the second light looks like that yellow and the one you painted looks like the newer traffic lights that they replaced that old one with. So if you match the second one you could have one that has the old shade of yellow and the one you painted would have the shade of the newer style traffic lights
Rick from pawn stars would offer 50 bucks but only after he got his buddy down there to inspect it and tell him the value. And his offer will be 50 and not a penny more. That's because he'll have to get the light fix, framed and displayed. It will take up a lot of room in his shop and it's not everyday people come in asking for old traffic lights
As a traffic light collector for more than 20 years the price hike is based on a perceived value. Many are worth the high tag because of the rarity, and the companies that once made them are no longer in business. The true 4-way signal (12 lights in one frame) are very coveted; however, due fetch a very high price tag ($1000 or higher has been the norm for an unpainted but complete signal). Collecting starts off reasonable, but many bad actors out there price gouge. When I got started I could get signals for under $120 in decent condition (no broken lenses or body damage). The ones I have are typically from the 60s and 70s. They needed fresh paint and some cleaning. As years went on, eBay sellers got it in their heads that "oooh this will is worth $500 now because I say so." Man cave builds have in some ways caused the price hikes due to the "I must have this traffic light in my man cave." The biggest offense to me is when these sellers drill into the bodies of the signal housing (instantly devalues the signal) just to run cables or mount them to the wall instead of using the large openings at the top and bottom (that's just 1 1/2" NPT (National Pipe Thread) that can be bought at most home centers. Yet they still want to charge $500 for it. The second signal you bought, those hinge pins on the reflectors is factory but I believe they are missing the springs that keep them a little more snug in place. The yellow paint is typically called Federal Yellow and is NOT available for the public to purchase. ACE Hardware sells a rattle can paint (or used to, I have trouble finding it today) called School Bus Yellow which is as close to Fed Yellow as I have seen. I have not found a good replacement for that color. Most are too yellow (near cadmium yellow) or too orange.
I think your traffic lights are so cool! Is there anything you can’t do, Rick?? I love the idea of hanging the lights so they show when you open the door! Hilarious! 🤣😂🤣
They make regulation safety colors and decent price. You can find it in the paint section at lowes and home depot. I just bought safety yellow hazzard red and get on the gas green. For the speedway. Go with the regulation colors
I think I have a picture of where this signal was installed at when it was still operational. (The Type M) Was installed on the heart of Houston. It was replaced in 2010. Austin St & Elgin St.
Notice the old light bulb the Philips light bulb was made in Mexico it goes to show you how long we've been getting screwed over. But other than that the light looks good you like to fix old stuff just like I do it helps pass the time
I have the predecessor Crouse Hinds Traffic Signal in my collection. Known as the "DT" or "Art Deco" by collectors. They are known for having a "stair step" looking back of the housing and tapered fins at the top and bottom of the Signal. Terminal blocks , thread was probably 10-32. I got boxes of them terminal blocks. Toss that nasty one out and redo all of the wires. If the wire is hooked to the case, that's the ground.
Those are called barrier strips. You have to be careful with some of them the screws aren’t meant to back all the way out depending on how they’re made to you actually break it if you try and back it out all the way out completely. But they’re cheap as long as you don’t buy it somewhere like Home Depot. And you shouldn’t be touching those bulbs with your bare hands the oils from your hands will make the bulbs break you got to use like white cotton gloves. No I’m not kidding either. I like the original yellow color I think you should just clean it up and not paint it my two cents. Yes that one does look like it’s from another country that’s what I thought to myself before you said it. I’ve got some railroad lanterns if you got money burning a hole in your pocket.
I'd go with the paint scheme used by the municipality where you wrote the most tickets to people runnin' those things! *Relax! I'm kidding, I'm kidding*
Let the red light stay on 24/7 and hang it above the driveway, on a pole. Next, drive to the fence and back, knowing you'll never get a ticket for running a stoplight.
😑your workshop is damn near as big as my entire apartment. Such DIY projects are rewarding, even if not kept, a healthy profit can be made by selling it. Color: Match the first light. Can always paint it differently later if you don't like it. Still trying to figure out the blue lens.
Hey there slick LOL hook you up some sensors so when you pull your vehicle in the garage it goes from green to yellow to red to tell you when to stop. Or hook it in between on the outside so you know how far to back up your horse trailer. Put that mechanical brain to work LOL 😝🐴🐴🦅
I'd run them off the same controller. Love these project videos. Probably good for you as well, beats calling people out and blocking them. No stress! again keep it up. 👍
Hey Rick, that's an old Crouse Hinds "breadpan" type. I have a few of them. Nice 8" light. I'm an Electrician specialized in signals...no ifs ands buts or coconuts...
Hey Rick can you watch a shooting. It is on police activity's channel. It is called body cam shows deputy begging man to show his hands before they shoot him . I am on my phone so I can't copy and paste a link.
I would put the red light on and set it in the beginning of my driveway so I can feel like I'm running a red light. Shit I bet a cop would try to write me a ticket for it lmao
Some cowboy friendly pipe components that might help in hanging the traffic lights is offered by a firm call Steeltek. You won't have to thread any pipe. Your favorite fuckin store, Lowe's, sell it in the plumbing department.
It's too bad you don't live near me. I have a traffic light in my house as "home decor" that needs to be repaired. I do this myself, but I am not handy. :'(
Thanks but... I don't know. I don't know where I'd get the parts. Plus, your traffic light is a little different than mine. Mine is a four light traffic light: stop, yield, go, straight ahead. And the straight ahead light stopped working years ago. LOL! Maybe if I get a repairman, I can watch & learn as he repairs it. Thank you anyway & Happy Holidays!
Nice man! Those old 8in signals are getting harder and harder to find. You got it for a good price. The black thing with screws in it is called a terminal strip. Bare with me, I'll help you out with parts. I got your email address, you'll hear from me soon.
The black and yellow looks good to me! Could go with a dark color on the other one like their putting in fancy cities nowadays I hope I can eventually get to where I can have a place like Rick and be able to tinker with stuff like that, That’s my favorite thing to do
I'd say if you hang it close to the first light, match the black and yellow of the first. If you put it on the other side of the shop or something, then either go green or use its current dark yellow color. The black and yellow looks really good! Fun random project!
Paint it your yellow it looks like a close enough color . I have on in my shop I bought 2 years ago .Huuum now I got the itch to get mine fixed up and on display .Where did ya get the computer board to make it flash thro the sequence? Can you drop the link in your next video you do on it.
Make the new one solar with remote and place it on your drive way could be some fun messing with folks buddy crossing sign paint the lines see how many actually stop or red for leave me alone if green ok to visit yellow is take your chances
I would go ridiculous and do bright color yellowsome type of glitter just to be funny because if you don’t like it after a year you can always change it and make another project of it. When I saw the lights the traffic lights I was thinking you were going to tell us that was your RUclips feelings red been really hurt y’all been precautions with your criticism and green means be funny because I’m having a great day lol.
Hey Rick you ever try AT 205 rubber treatments? Brings rubber back to life I use it on car parts that have rubber gaskets etc. Great product. I learned from Scotty Kilmer channel! Love the project videos man!
Rick’s videos are like a box of chocolates “you never know what you’re going to get”.

I think you should restore it to its former self, rather than match the other, makes your collection more interesting
Looks good Rick. Fun project.
Cool video! Thanks for sharing brother!🇺🇸👍
Thanks for watching!
Rick you should paint it, the dark green. I think it will look really sharp.
That's really cool. As a kid growing up I always looked at everything and just wondered how did it work I guess it would be a good idea to buy it and actually see and learn🎓. Cheaper than buying then buy gun attachments
Very cool project! Inside the barn should look like a personal landing strip.🚥🚥
I really like your yellow with the black for the new one.
GOT SIX MONTHS PROBATION FOR STEALING ONE OF THOSE FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE AT AGE 13 LMAO 60 NOW .
you get caught walking down the road with a street light in hands?
It would be very hard to not get caught with it as they are lot bigger than you think. Or that was what I thought.

Nice work, I'm impressed. Signal lights require a large element due to cycling often.
Yes, they have to be thick, especially the red and yellow due to the barrage of cusswords being screamed at them all day long.

It identifies as a Blue light but it's really green.

can you hang one over the gate to your property? maybe programed to turn red when a cruiser pulls up?
I've got a led traffic light. Works 50 bucks
If you wanna keep the value do you want to keep the patina on it but I like the bright yellow myself
You know they sells leds style incandescent light bulbs and it will look great in your traffic signal. You using first and basic gen leds light bulbs
Rick is that lens really blue. I’ve never seen a red yellow blue traffic signal usually green
called terminal strip...
Keep all yellow. Don’t change the color.
It's a terminal bus.
2:55 look into a 'rasberry pi' if you want a PC chip to control the lights etc...
Where you gonna hang it?
I think Rick just wanted a reason to tie some knots
He seems to enjoy tying stuff down
they don’t look right with the white ball...ditch the LED’s ?
That could be his cameras light sensor self adjusting… maybe.
