he was experimenting alot in the early albums trying to find his style, lots of difference in his songs at the start

This song and Wake Up both took me a while to warm up to. Never could really figure out why. The way you pointed out how it doesn't quite feel like NF made a lot of sense to me. I feel that might be why I felt that way. Thanks. Great reaction and aliases.

I've been one to stand up against a lot of the criticisms of Wait because I think it's an underrated song and it really does capture NF's mindset towards relationships. That being said, I really appreciated your critique, and I can 100% buy what you're saying. Compared to much of the rest of his work, this song does have more of an industry feel. Like you said, it doesn't make it a bad song at all. I personally really enjoy it. It does have a very different feel from much of his work. I don't think it changes my perspective towards it from the standpoint of where it fits in his story because the message is the same, but I would agree that stylistically it is an outlier. Thanks for the reaction and keep up the great work!

    "How could you leave us"
Litsen to that and you'll know SO MUCH abt who he is, what he been through, and some of his lyrics in other songs will start to make sense

There are a couple of songs on his albums where they definitely feel, how should I say, out of place for what we’re used to hearing from NF… with that being said, it can be difficult to start at present of an artist’s journey and then try and go back and experience the beginning… what you’ve already listened to is years of maturation… what you’re experiencing now is the birth of a great artist.
I feel like NF tries his hand at a couple different genres on this album, which for me anyways made it interesting because even this song were great!
    Enjoy the ride!!

He sang this one when I saw him on the Clouds tourthis past Sept. He can SANG! Listening to him song live is a whole different experience. He sings with som much soul and emotion. I actually cried during this song. Plus haven't we all been in this sort of relationship one time or another...just a desperate kind of love. This is one of my favorites.

I write a pop song and then I write a song like this. I think you are correct and NF even agreed with you.
"Write a pop song, then I write a song like this
Do a lot wrong? Doesn't matter, I learn quick
I'm an outlaw, my brain has no fence
Doesn't matter either way to me 'cause even if it did I would destroy it (Woo)
Used to be employee, now I'm employer
Making big deals, now I gotta get lawyers
People tell me to relax and enjoy it" Options - The Search

Every album nf releases he has a song or 2 thats almost intended to be on the radio. Something catchy that majority of people like. Its smart. Helped build his audience and now look where hes at. Ie "time" on the search, "let you down" on perception ect...

This was the first ever NF song I heard. Played on my school (Liberty University’s) radio. I loved it and had to look him up. I think this just shows his versatility. He does a song or 2 like this on most of his albums

I love his style on the majority of his newer shit but this one is one of my favorites tbh, it’s not his traditional fast rap insane cadence type shit, it’s still deep but also has a different vibe to it & was the first NF song I heard that drew me into the rest

100% agree. First time I heard this I thought same thing. I like the song but definitely feels like the label brought this one to him. However it does highlight his versatility. Enjoyed the reaction. Appreciate you.

Very interesting take Von. I have been with him since the release of “Grindin” and I really love this song. The thing I love the most is the runs and the pain in his vocal. At the same time I can see that the video is different and the only one that is similar that comes to mind would be “Time”. I feel like those two are the rare songs where he is writing about his love life.
Also, great background music Von that track is fire and has a great “happy” tone to it. Great reaction!

The song style is different but I think it was still inspired by a real experience. When he started his professional career in music he left home and a girlfriend he had at the time. He touches on that subject on other songs as well.

Yes this is the album that Nate had to perform for the industry. It's one of the reasons he dropped off capital Christian after this album so in therapy session he could do him. He caught alot of backlash from the industry because he stood firm to his own brand. It's also why he dud 3 albums in three years to fulfill his contract as fast as he could while building his brand and now came out better than when he went in. That's so rare and with who he is intact. They wanted him to follow the Lecrae plan of action but he would not confirm which was risky but God had plans even bigger.

Huge NF fan, watch ton of reactors and you sir are the first to bring up that angle. I like it and can definitely see it that way! This song is underrated and definitely doesn’t get enough love. But he does play around with his music. Youre Special, Wake Up, Turn the music up, All I Do, Motivated just to name a few off the top my head.

When you listen to all of Mansions, there are several diff sounds. I appreciate his abilities to do other genres, but his rap is his Thang. Albums 2 and 3, the re is less of other stuff. Your reactions are great. Have a blessed day.

I this was his early or albums from him when he would do a lot more singing. I believe it’s his style and he still mixes some of this in with his newer music as well. The Search for example has a few where he mixes in his vocal talents as well as a lyricist. I can see why you feel like it’s not NF as you did start the journey in reverse. You’ll catch on and see his development and how he came into his own. I agree to a certain extent that it’s not really his own, but when he hits the bars in that song you know what’s up!

I have 36 songs on my personal NF playlist... this isn't one of them. However, I'll WAIT for your reactions to...
    - Returns
    - Layers
    - Warm Up
    - Options
    - Outro
    - 10 Feet Down
    - I Miss The Days
    - Statement
    - Green Lights
    - Remember This
    Those will FEEL like NF.

The way you explained it makes soooooo much sense. I agree this could have been a push from the label. I like it as I feel NF has NO bad songs. But it does feel like it was made for radio or a movie. I can definitely see this in a chick flick movie!!

I know that "Wake Up" (one of my FAVORITES) Nate had a LOT of input in how the video was shot ... he pretty much directed it. Just think Nate has a lot of different styles and I don't believe he is "industry influenced" with any of his music.
