Great video! When I first read through Augustine's Confessions, that quote was one of the most challenging ones I encountered. Thank you for bringing clarity and context to it.
I think you've already started on a wrong foot since the Church is not "above scripture". Rather, the Church (he meant the visible institution) reflects the Scripture's teachings.
@@computationaltheist7267 Then I think you'll find the video is more to your liking then you initially thought. The point of my video is to critique the idea that the Church is above the Scriptures, which Augustine's quote is often abused to try and argue for.
I'm sorry, I don't understand how this relates to my video. And by catholic do you mean Roman Catholic, or the definition of the word catholic which means universal?
@@PracticalChristianLessons well, we have to know just who God's church is or we are lost. i mean catholic or 'roman catholic' -- neither fits His qualifications, Sir.
@@tony1685 Ok. I'm not Roman Catholic, so I'm a little confused as it seems your comment was aimed at me and my video 😅(unless I just misunderstood the target of the comment)
@@PracticalChristianLessons no friend, no problem! i just love to get people thinking about the forgotten Commandment! from Genesis --->>> Revelation, absolutely zero supports the change of the Command from the 7th day to the 1st. i just enjoy explaining that fact and seeing how many have questions about it, as it's of major importance for our time. when i hear people say 'the Church', i often am wrong when i think they are suggesting it's the catholic 'church', apologies if you weren't speaking of that system. but that is where the sunday 'keeping' originated....welll from babylon and catholicism.

Happy to be a tool of the Lord in this matter!

Did you watch the entire video? I would be impressed if you did, since the video isn't out yet.
@PracticalChristianLessons I read the description of the upcoming video and describing the Church as "above Scripture" is problematic.
@@computationaltheist7267 So you would agree the Church is not above Scripture?
@@PracticalChristianLessons Yes. The concept is that the Church reflects the Scriptures similar to how the moon reflects the sun.

one huge discrepancy -- what the Bible proves as God's church is not what the catholic system is. they don't meet His criteria.
