    You should have noted if they leak when you're not squeezing them.
    And for dry time it didn't seem like all the dots were the same size. The smaller ones would dry faster so you can't really compare them. The other parts were helpful though.

      I think they also have to consider durability. Our hot glue gun has lasted at least 10 years, when we tried to buy a new one, because the old one was looking gross despite it still working amazingly, the new one lasted a couple of months before it stoped working as well. I know that is hard to test but it has to be considered
      Also how long you need to charge the glue gun or replace the batteries

    • @fashionbug9880
      @fashionbug9880 6 лет назад +10

      I have one that leaks, but a trick to prevent it is when you temporarily put it down, pull the glue stick back a centimeter or so. It will still melt the glue in the gun so you can use it immediately, but not enough for it to drip out. Granted I've only tried this on my 1 glue gun so idk if it works for all, but it really helps.

    • @EmilieBlueBerry
      @EmilieBlueBerry 6 лет назад +16

      Yes, agreed the testing would have been of better quality with some minor protocol improvements:
      - score each gun twice blinded from each others' scoring and then use the average
      - draw patterns on the paper sheets to follow for the handling tests
      - draw equal sized circles (multiples) to fill for drying time
      - heat each guns multiple times for a better measure of time
      - include other technical characteristics like weight and durability
      - repeat all the tests with a different glue

    I think the orange part on the Patec glue gun was supposed to come off, it's just a protection if the tip is still a bit hot once you want to put it away. Super interesting video, I'd like to see other types of tools put to the test !

  • @216stitches

    I want to know why there isn't a glue gun that combines all 5 major features. It seems you can get 1-3 but never all 5. Those features are: 1.auto shut off 2.on-off switch 3.temp control 4. indicator light and 5.interchangeable nozzles. If you guys ever get around to your own line of glue guns PLEASE include all 5 of these features. I would pay a lot of money for it. Bonus if it's cute. Particularly chartreuse.
    Another question; why are there no guns between $40 and $100?

    I'm not to bummed about long dry times, tbh. I kind of prefer it if it was more like 3 minutes because I've had the opposite issue of trying to glue something and the glue was already dry before I could attach anything.

  • @ForYouSunshine
    @ForYouSunshine 6 лет назад +13

    The time it takes to dry depends on the gluesticks as well. And, some glueguns get hotter than others, which makes the glue easier to work with, but it takes longer to dry.

  • @bohemianlali

    Dry time is kind of relative, depending on what you are using it for. Besides it probably depends more on the glue stick itself than on the glue gun.

      Glue guns come in 40, 60, 70 etc. watts, basically the more watts, the hotter the glue becomes?

    • @tookitogo
      @tookitogo 5 лет назад +2

      Rob Ot - No. More watts simply give it more power to heat up faster, and to support higher flow rates. The heater automatically reduces power when it reaches temperature, regardless of wattage.

    • @robot7759
      @robot7759 5 лет назад

      @@tookitogo Higher flow rate = higher temperature? Just trying to wrap my head around the concept of low & high temp glue guns, a qualification we don't have... 😼

    • @shaynaformity1384
      @shaynaformity1384 3 года назад

      @@robot7759 some materials will melt if you use a high temp glue gun (styrofoam, some synthetic fabrics), but low temp is not as strong a hold, so heavier items are held together better with high temp glue (rope, wood, etc).

    For anyone wondering, the 'underdog' gun is just a generic $4 gun from AliExpress rebranded all over the place on Amazon. Theoretically it doesn't matter which of the Amazon links you get it from, just look for guns with the same trigger and power button and it'll be equivalent to what's reviewed here.

    peep the black and decker glue gun. i don't know y'all Canadians know that company, but its a really big industrial tool company in the US. their glue gun is a steep $40, but my mom bought one in 1996 and it still is pristine and the best glue gun i've ever used. being professional craftswomen and diy-ers it might be smart to invest in one.

    Dual Temperature guns are a revelation.
    When you need high bonding, use a high temperature setting. When you need delicate adhesion and fast cool down use a low temp.

    Thanks for the video...but the following points was not noted which I think is important: Do they leak when not being squeezed? Do they stand up well when put down on the table? Does the handle get hot when using for a long time? I had a glue gun that just keeps on leaking even when not being used and the handle gets hot. The other one I got which is a heavy duty one just gave up on me and it was leaking all over though it stands up well.

    I didn't realize there were options for glue guns like that! Mind = blown, lol! I definitely liked your favorite one and struggle with my own version of the LOSER of the glue gun race myself...may be upgrading soon. 🤔

    Girls! Could you please try and make a paravent/room divider? The nice ones or sooo expensive!! Also, could you try yourself at making those traditional japanese "paper walls"? Maybe a combination of both? 😍😊 I'm totally obsessed with minimal traditional japanese style 😍😍

    I think you guys should also rate them by low heat or high heat because high heat comes out better.
