    I had my G test last week. It is still modified, thank god. The first time I merged in the highway I was too slow, the examiner started telling me to speed up and I panicked a little. The second time I merged I was ok. They just want to make sure you’re being safe. Keep checking your mirrors and blind spots. And do not rush on left turns

  • @sb1484

    Did this exact route today! (March 20). Make sure to merge onto the highway between 85-95 km and look at both mirrors. That was the only error I made (not looking at my mirrors). But other than that, the test was straight forward and as long as you practiced you should be fine!

    9:40 is nightmare fuel, i am very surprised you passed this test as you were begging to get t-boned by the oncoming vehicle. if in doubt at a left turn, wait behind the stop line. if you're already in the intersection, wait until it's totally clear. if uncertain about whether the oncoming cars are going to stop for you (i.e. lights yellow), wait til you have confirmed they are stopped then clear the intersection once it's safe. red light cameras will not snap you for this if you were already in the intersection before the light changed.

    I passed here this morning, with (I think based on his voice) the same examiner, who seems quite fair, even generous. Same route too, except the final left at the light back to the Victoria Terrace parking lot from Lawrence had a string of cars, so the examiner had me to go the next left turn into the parking lot.
    The test was scheduled for 11:03 and was almost on time. The DVP was very busy, so merging was a little hairy and definitely not 90km/h, but somehow I found spaces and made it in (relatively) safely. I was completely prepared to find out I had failed, but somehow I only got 5 dings, and didn't receive a lecture at the end. I would think this is not the easiest place to do a G test due to the sometimes chaotic nature of the DVP. I did the test here because according to one chart I read, the pass rates are higher here than at other Metro Toronto locations, so all I can say is, you can pass here if you don't mind some intense traffic and you keep your wits about you.
    I practiced the route a number of times beforehand which I would definitely recommend. Sometimes in those practices, there were close calls merging... but it paid off in the actual test by being better prepared. Remember, you don't have to be absolutely perfect. (But do try to be perfect). Just don't to anything obviously unsafe.

    Confirming this was the actual test as of Dec 21. Very busy, had to wait >1hr at my car. If they are very busy, will take YM exit off of DVP north. If they aren't busy, could look at 401 east to Vic Park exit or Warden. GL

    parallel parking
    roadside stops
    3-point turn
    driving in residential neighbourhoods

    It is surprising, the first left turn should have failed right away in other test centres, not to mention both the left lane change on highway almost collide and the right lane change without checking blindspot. Very lucky and thanks for sharing the routes.

      true, everything still depends on the examiner. if the examiner is in bad mood even a slight mistake you fail automatically.

    • @MsLazyPerfectionist
      @MsLazyPerfectionist Год назад +4

      @@hyunwukha682 Hey, the actual test was good. It's still modified indefinitely I believe. There wasn't any G2 components such as parallel parking, 3 point turn etc. My examiner was really good. He made me feel comfortable. Initially he told me to turn my head earlier and I quickly adjusted. When I first merged into the highway, I went a bit too slow so he said "speed up and close the gap". If they provide feedback it doesn't mean you fail so just listen to what they are saying and do it confidently. When exiting York Mills and going back onto Lawrence, there was traffic and everyone was going 50km so I had to merge in a smaller space but if you do it confidently and control your speed and go with the flow you'll be fine.

      Had a question. If you yield to the sign exiting lawerence eastbound Ave, are we able to pause for a bit till cars pass you, then speed up to 60km/h??

    • @MsLazyPerfectionist
      @MsLazyPerfectionist Год назад +3

      @@kooltheman Yes. If no cars, then just keep going. Make sure you check your blind spots and make it obvious. If there are cars, you can do a rolling stop or stop entirely if it's not safe to go once you get on you'll have to merge left immediately since it goes directly towards south exit. Good luck! Be confident and exaggerate looking at blind spots.

    Wow. You passed? I saw so many immediate failures if any one drives like this in other test center.
    - unsafe left turn when go on ramp for highway (2nd entry)
    - unsafe switch lane back to right on highway (on highway back). You were definitely in hurry while the exit was still far ahead
    - turn signal too early
    - failed to keep up to speed (slow at first), at the same time failed to check speed limit on the way back
    - unsafe turn left when entry back to the center. The car opposite has not passed yet you already turn
    I’m surprised but nevertheless thank you for your video. Congrats on your G. Drive safe and take care!

    • @lezhu6856
      @lezhu6856 Год назад

      Turn signal early isn't a fail, I don't know how many deductions it would be though. Not keeping up speed is also a deduction, not a fail. Lane changes on highway could have been done better but given the traffic and examiner instructions, were within the standard. What happened at 9:40 though should have been a fail.

      @@marytadesse8785 he should have waited for the oncoming car to pass before turning left - that would be the best option. However, he decided to take the turn and in such case it should have been completed as quickly as possible not to force the oncoming car to break.

    • @MrFreeGman
      @MrFreeGman Год назад

      @@marytadesse8785 Bad left hand turns are one of the biggest causes of crashes. And what he did there is an example of why. A car going straight through a green should never have to brake for someone doing a left. Some people don't pay attention and just fly through the light, assuming that the guy doing the left won't dare try to make the turn. Two people being careless at the same time = potential fatality.
      The left hand turn back to the driving center was fine though. Not sure what Trung Truong is talking about. You can start gaining momentum before the car has completely cleared the intersection. It's not like he's going to stop on a dime in front of you and you're going to ram into him at 5km/h
