I bought the 2022 Hybrid Corolla last year new and have been driving it for 12 months now. I absolutely love it. I get 61 to 65 mpg. I am not an aggressive driver...lol. My work trip is half highway and 24 miles total....and fairly flat land. I just bought a new Toyota cabin filter and a new engine filter yesterday for $60. It is important to know that the life of this car is in the care of the many filters throughout the car.
Lucky, because my 2008 Camry hybrid needed a new battery in 2015 just under 200k miles. Did not justify the $6k repair so I bought a 2007 V6 for that cash. Still alive like new.
I have a 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE and before that had a 2014 Camry Hybrid XLE that I put 90000 miles on and did nothing to it except oil changes, tires, and air filters
@@karaobey3085Your cars are still brand new in Toyota standards and should last many more years. Your battery and generator are both still under warranty. But I’d keep an eye on it once the ten year warranty ends on the 2014 next year, push the dealer to replace it if you hear any funny noises or generative issues, that’s how mine started to fail.
@@andrewgus8763 so u spent $6000 to buy a V6, instead of replacing the battery. Did u do calculation for last 7 years, how much of fuel cost you would have saved? By the way, battery prices came down alot. I have installed one in my car, bought a used car 2012 model. Already had 400000kms on the clock. Installed a new batter for $2850AUD. That would be around 2100USD...
I just picked up a 2023 Corolla ce comes with the alloy wheels and exterior upgrades, paid 25900 msrp I’m averaging 46mpg with mostly freeway driving. Great car
40 Something is low, really low, I get at least 50 something of a mix of putting my foot down in sports mode and motorway driving at at least 70 mph, with a full (ish) load, full estate with a few people seated,
@@Infamouzc5 The engine management system "learns" so it gets better mpg, Along with the fuel, a good or fresh batch of petrol aka gasoline makes a observable different, The batch is out of your hands, the fresh batch is, when you see a tanker filling up your station, get the vehicle filled, it's more um, potent, Another important thing is E5 or E10, basically it's ethenol, I am paying for petrol not filler !!!! The ethenol flashes off and also is hydroscopic, so exaggerating the need to always have at least a 1/4 tank full to stop picking up water and other crap out the tank,
I got a 2024 Corolla hybrid and payed 25,600 including everything out of the store. It gets 55 mpg and has great power. I am keeping the foot off the metal till it gets 2000 miles. It has great get up and go.
In 2012 I bought a 2010 level 3 prius with 59k miles. The sticker new was $29,500, I paid $14,600. Less than half of new. Used as a taxi until I retired it has 360k miles. At 220k my mechanic put a good used, tested battery in for $1200, he also replaced a strut mount. But I am a stickler about maintenance.
@@HoneyDooDoo after 3 months of looking everywhere, I found it at a small used car lot in Boerne, Texas, just outside of San Antonio. I was bidding on a second chance car on ebay that I used as a bargaining chip and they beat my bid so I let the ebay car go. Good luck. Stay safe, stay prepped, stay pureblood. GOD BLESS GOD SPEED GOD WINS.
I most likely got my 2023 Corolla AWD from the same dealer in Colorado. I rented a car and drove 5 hours to pick it up. I love my AWD Corolla. It is better in the snow than any of the last 4 Subarus I have owned.
Drove the previous model a few days ago, feels like driving a cloud, moves really well, super comfy. Thinking of getting the new model that is more powerful and has really low consuption.
Corollas are phenomenal vehicles. I’m not looking for a race car I want reliable. Current 2017 SE one has 75,000 miles zero issues not even a brake job needed yet. Also has a 96 (I think) prism made by Geo same car (a Corolla made in CA) and an 86 hatchback Corolla were everything worked flawlessly. Easy on the wallet cars with better design than other manufacturers in my opinion. Wife’s Chevy Cruze for instance had 3 parts changed within 30k not cool. Got rid of it for the 2017 Corolla and haven’t looked back. Even better the 2017 with dynamic radar cruise saved our lives. Wife passed out behind the wheel at 75mph on a Texas hwy I35 I steered for 3 minutes till I got her awake. With hazards flashing. Not enough shoulder to pull over . The car stayed just the right distance from others no matter if someone pulled in front of us. I was so impressed I wrote Toyota to thank them.
I bought a new Corolla back in 2020 with the 2.0 liter engine non hybrid. I get 46 mpg hwy and 38 in town . I only paid 20,300 but that was before prices went up in 2020 . Granted 23,000 is not a bad price but very unusual today . I’d rather have my non hybrid .
Here in Holland Toyota sold the Auris hybrid from 2010. It's a Corolla with a different name, with the Prius engine, drivetrain and battery. I own one, a very, very reliable car and very economic. More than 210.000 kilometers on the odo, never needed any repair.
Best mpg on hybrid car. I booked one 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE today. $27,800 out of the door. I needed a second car and waited patiently of last one year. This is common sense car and fits the math.
Buying a new car as a second car doesn't make sense at all...new cars are made cheaper. You lose a lot of value when you take it off the lot, and even scottyhas said not to buy a hybrid
While my 2014 camery was in the body shop recently, I had a Toyota rav4 which I liked a lot. I looked up what new ones are going for here in Atlanta. It was a same thing here 30k at least. I bought the Camry used and just paid it off. It only has 97k miles I'm keeping the Camry for another 2-3 years at least.
This is why I went for the sr5 Tacoma. Didn’t need the locking diffs with the Pro or TRD off road or the bigger infotainment screen and hood scoop with the TRD sport. Just needed a v6 and 4wd. Those upper trims were $4k-$8k more!!
Tundra SR5, 4WD, 5.7, 16.2 mpg, quiet inside, in fact, quieter that our past 2021 Rav4 Hybrid. My brother has the same as you. Happy camper too! Good luck. 500,000 miles or more😊!
this video gonna drive the price up😂 jokes aside, I'm glad Mr. Scotty got to make a video with the new Corolla hybrid. I'm still debating whether to get the gas or hybrid version.
it was a bad deal for me. My 2014 Toyoya Prius C gave me the dead hybrid battery warning past december at 101K miles. 7mo and 1K mile out of warranty. Dealer wants 5K for replacing the battery. I calculated that it would take 200,000 miles driving a hybrid to pay for 5K in gas savings.
Just purchased this 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE for $27k OTD. Was expecting to pay $40-45k OTD during this car shortage. Absolutely loving my car. Thank you for helping me make a smart decision, Scotty!
I am going to get this same car hopefully paying 25k or less OTD since the Cerritos auto square does not charge a “market adjustment” but regardless would you say it’s a good buy? Ik the base price is cheaper than previous models which caught my eye but I am planning to buy the LE model with no added anything.
@@angelg4829I think the LE is cheaper in ‘23 because previously, the LE was the only hybrid trim level. When they added SE and XLE, they moved some of the options that used to come standard to higher trim level and dropped the LE price.
@@blazenwolf9643 sorry y’all I’m back. So update I did end up buying the car (2023 Corolla hybrid LE) and I ended up paying like 29k out the door :(. The dealers got to me esp since there was a car shortage. The Costco pricing did help tho!
My daughter bought 2022 Corolla LE ...Her first new car she's had a year now...She drives the hell out of it. I believe she's at 20k miles. Or so. She and her husband find it a great little car and it's performance for a budget car is quite accepted at the 22k price with the little options. The geared auto trans CVT has a 1st like no other for getting up and going which in theory should last longer. The little 1.8 isn't bad tried and true. She drives like this guy around 80 plus MPH on the Interstate visiting family. Though I wish she would slow down , it does seem like a nice little sporty car for what's out there today in it's price bracket. I always tell people to buy Toyota or Honda. Can't go wrong but watch out my son had the turbo 1.5t civic 2021 new and traded down for the 18 accord 2.0t and had way more power. More luxurious as well albeit he wound up paying the price of a new civic for am old 18 accord. Looks like new and has it modded as little as possible by ktune and filter cold air intake. He's taking many cars on the road having fun here and there too. Sleeper.
That price is a base car with ABSOLUTELY no accessories/addons. Plus that does not include the mandatory $1195 delivery processing/handling charge. When he makes it sound like the car costs a flat $23k he is blowing smoke.
@@packerbacker69 Yep you're spot on. I'm a Toyota salesman. After you include delivery fee, mandatory accessories from port, taxes, registration, doc fee etc. you'll end up paying closer to 28k.
I'm picking up my new 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE tomorrow. I can't wait. That humming noise you heard in reverse only happens in reverse tp get pedestrian attention.
So true Scotty got to shop around. They wanted 54,000 for my last car , I live on the coast , found the same car new in the center of the country. Got it for 34.000 saved big bucks … FACT
Just bought a 2007 4 -wheel drive Highlander with 210k at auction for $2600. The Carfax showed meticulous maintenance. Had a dealer friend and paid his addirional fees. Estimate to fix was $1900 but had the printout and checked with my Scotty-type mechanic before the auction. He said it was very minor. Bought the car. He charged me $110 to fix. He said even the tires were good. Yes, I am happy.
That's a very viable production vehicle. That will withstand the storm of the "failing electric car market" and prevail. 53 MPG, in town. That's a magic number for milage fer sure.
Wow. I actually agree with you Scotty. This will be my next purchase. I don't know about the steel wheels though. Third-party alloys really aren't that expensive.
We needed to make a trip from Houston, Texas, to New England. Our car was a1999 Dodge Caravan with 167K on the ODO. I purchased a spare wheel (same wheel as on the van. I did not want to be forced into using the silly small tire the factory called a "spare" for a replacement if we had a flat. I left the "new" spare with the van when I sold it to a friend. He was tickled to have a real spare!
Good advice. 23k for the hybrid in the USA is extremely good. Yikes just checked now LE Hybrid is $28,900 before delivery, dealer, tax - AWD XSE is $37,200 with Canadian dollar 😮. The new hybrid they said better get pre-approved for $50,000.
Scotty. For more than 25 years our country has been importing used cars from Japan. Today, we have lots of used Toyota Hybrids on our roads. Of course they are JDM models ! Corolla Axio, Corolla Fielder wagons, Prius models, Prius C, Yaris, Sienta, Voxy, Noah, Crown............you name it ! I was in the Importing business for 15 years, and the Toyota Hybrida are the best. Ride and reliability. They have proven themselves over the years. Right now my daughter will receive a Brand new 2022 Yaris Cross Adventure Hybrid from Japan on February 18th. Any Hybrid vehicle with a 1500cc or smaller engine is tax-exempt. Her car has cost US$23,500. Here, premium gasoline costs over US$4 per gallon. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
No spare tire?? Seems very risky and dangerous especially for girls: Every vehicle should come standard with a spare and the basic tools to use it. Smh.
im glad Scotty likes the car. i got a great deal on a 4year old Corolla E210 Sedan Hybrid, but the EU spec with Sol Trim. Instead of paying 32.000€ it was 21.000€, with only 60.000km. And it still has 6 years waranty on everything. But i did get 18inch Alloys though, and i have a spare tyre in the trunk for some reason. Also no charging ports in the back, myn has AirCons instead. Also the EU spec looks like a lexus compared to the US spec, so bizare.
This is great because my biggest gripe with the prius was how low to the ground it was. Notorious for scraping the bottom, I'm sure this fixed that issue.
Back in the late 80's my dad was looking for a basic dodge d150 truck. We live 2 hours west of Detroit (originally from the detroit area). We stopped by our local dealer and they wanted like $1500 more than the equivalent truck at a dealership in Dearborn. Our local dealer basically said "well if you want drive to the city go for it." That's nuts what he did. We took the 2 hour drive over to Dearborn and got that truck instead of at our local dealer. At that time, people around here didn't drive more than a half hour away from home and thought that if you traveled east of Ann arbor you're going to get shot (not possibly, definitely). The $20 in gas at the time was worth the $1500 in savings.
I'm the guy that bought this car. In case anyone is wondering, I flew to Durango, CO to purchase it. I also got a stellar 3.5 percent interest rate from Toyota motor credit.
I loved my 96 corolla I had!! I paid $450 for that car & drove it for 40k miles & the person I sold it to at 322k even drove off in it!! These are good cars
That's a good idea to put the same engine in a Corolla because they are much better looking than a Prius. Well, until the new Prius comes out later this year. And that's a Prius I would stand in line for.
The spare tire thing sucks, but there is space in there to put a full size spare, that's what I did with my 22 hybrid corolla. They sold me the car with fix a flat and an air pump, that's ridiculous!
Bought a 2012 plug Prius in 2015 out the door no money down for 16k$ ... 60k miles on the engine... I have 300k miles on it... I just rebuilt the engine in my driveway (it was still running 47-50 mpg per tank) cleaned all the carbon off the valves cyls exct... replaced all the gaskets and rusty bolts... Cleaned the EGR and intake... All new fluids... Cost me $250 in parts and fluids... To rebuild and clean an engine... I started watching Scotty 3 cars ago and he helped me out with a question I had on a 90s era suburban... I went from that to a Nissan leaf for 5 years... To a plug in Prius 8 years ago.... And boy do I feel old 😂 but I've done all the work on the car myself and it's still on the road going strong... I'm confident my car will get me where I need to go Because I know I can get my car going (or stopping) thanks in part to people like Scotty
Personally I would go with Honda myself, I ran two 2003 Honda civic hybrid 5 speed manual both Cars I bought used and both got 300,000 miles before the batteries were trashed, Both built in Japan as well 🇺🇸👍.
Great car indeed. Very efficient for city driving and for people who do a lot of miles like taxi drivers. But I still don’t think the average consumer should be mandated to own these. The lithium battery and generator it has are too expensive to replace and don’t last as long. I’ve made a mistake and bought a 2008 Camry hybrid and the battery was too expensive to replace when it failed. My 2007 gasoline one still drives like new.
@@stanthomas9890 Useless warranty once your car passes the 150k miles mark. They usually never break before that. Mine went out at just under 200k. I was lucky to get $4,500 back for trading the car in. Initially paid $7,000.
That’s what i did i looked at cars in California too dang high i looked around in different states i found Toyota corolla in Virginia. Flew and bought drove it home well worth it!!
if you buy steel rims use a plastic self locking wire band in spaces to keep front covers from being knocked off or stolen. easy to snip off and replace if need be.
If you need to towe these models with regenerative braking, whatch out that you don’t get the wrong towe truck! Use a “Bed Truck!” Damage occurs when two wheels coast on the ground causing battery to overheat and catch fire as wheels regenerate energy that overheats the battery! Especially if you have All Wheel Drive.
Wives 2007 Camry hybrid just got the death knock two days ago. One of the valves split at almost 200,000 miles. Looking at '23 Camry hybrid SXEs at the moment. 49 mi a gallon for a sedan big enough for me? Yes please! Currently driving loner 23 Prius prime and while it's awesome, it's too small for us. Both my wife and I really like the sportier look and the heated seats so I'll spend a little more on the SXE trim. I'm still driving my 2008 Highlander limited with 84,000 mi! Love it almost as much as the day I got it still.
You can sell it for 29k-32k or more as of right now. Very limited stock and a minimum of 6 months wait time. Taxi and Uber drivers are drooling over Camrys. My 2019 LE is selling for $29k in my area with 15k miles. Thinking of swapping it with a Lexus with this profit.
My 22 hybrid is getting 56 miles to the gallon average, if this one is under 50 then I'd rather keep my 22, I don't need the extra horsepower or higher trim level.
@@J.Young808 Thats how I drive, mostly highway. The 23 corolla hybrid has EPA rating of several miles per gallon lower than the 22 corolla hybrid. Don't try to pretend toyota didn't sacrifice some MPG to get that higher HP. I'd rather have the higher MPG than the HP personally is all I'm saying.
Got myself a 2023 Silver Metallic Corolla Hatch XSE and it's a fun drive. Dressing her up like last year's Nightshade Edition, too. I'll stick to my little 2L 4 banger.
I love this Toyota hybrid. Fortunately we also have those here in Germany. It cost 33k new so I will get a 3y old one with about 30k-40k km for about 19k. Technology wise this is a fantastic and reliable vehicle with great gas milage and here in Germany it has one of the best automatic transmissions (if not the best) on the marked especially for that price (Germans prefer German cars).

Lucky, because my 2008 Camry hybrid needed a new battery in 2015 just under 200k miles. Did not justify the $6k repair so I bought a 2007 V6 for that cash. Still alive like new.
What year
I have a 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE and before that had a 2014 Camry Hybrid XLE that I put 90000 miles on and did nothing to it except oil changes, tires, and air filters
@@karaobey3085Your cars are still brand new in Toyota standards and should last many more years. Your battery and generator are both still under warranty.

Scotty, I just purchased a brand new 2024 Corolla SE for $22k. Great car

I'm shopping for one of this right now but I didnt want to buy till I have Uncle Scotty's blessing...now my mind is at ease.
That’s great to hear. It took care of you.
I’m driving a 2022 non hybrid and getting 40 mpg combined. It’s actually a pretty solid vehicle, quieter than my Crv.
You've paid 4800$ to much. Didn't you watch the video?
While my 2014 camery was in the body shop recently, I had a Toyota rav4 which I liked a lot. I looked up what new ones are going for here in Atlanta. It was a same thing here 30k at least. I bought the Camry used and just paid it off. It only has 97k miles I'm keeping the Camry for another 2-3 years at least.
If it's anything like my 99 Solara, it will last beyond 200K miles.
My Prius is 2007 . Very reliable! I have just short of 300,000 miles on it. It is a gift that keeps giving
Mist R…..it all depends on how long you own the vehicle for.
it was a bad deal for me.

My daughter bought 2022 Corolla LE ...Her first new car she's had a year now...She drives the hell out of it. I believe she's at 20k miles. Or so. She and her husband find it a great little car and it's performance for a budget car is quite accepted at the 22k price with the little options.

I have a 2021 Corolla Hybrid and I drive conservatively (sanely) and I get 60 mph constantly according to the car’s computer.
Great car. I'd get the LE base model also.

How’s your fuel economy? The numbers dropped from last year. Are you overachieving official or?
I prefer HYBRIDS over FULLY ELECTRIC; uses vey little fuel, and NEVER need to "PLUG-IN TO RECHARGE", therefore no risk of running dry and being stuck!
The hybrid with about 50kms of electric range is perfect.

Actually the first gen. Prius was in a Corolla body too. I still have one. 2001 to 2003 1st Gen US.
Toyota Echo engine was in first generation Prius
That's a good idea to put the same engine in a Corolla because they are much better looking than a Prius. Well, until the new Prius comes out later this year. And that's a Prius I would stand in line for.
If you really want to have a spare tire in a vehicle, you can always go to a salvage yard and find one there for cheap.
I got a wheel off ebay when I needed one. Steel used was $35.
Hi Scotty from Houston (Spring Branch)!
The spare tire thing sucks, but there is space in there to put a full size spare, that's what I did with my 22 hybrid corolla. They sold me the car with fix a flat and an air pump, that's ridiculous!
Are the wheels the same as older Toyota models? If so, buy your spare from a junkyard.
