Kate came to the table STRAPPED
That was GREAT! 😂
This is the best format for Cannon Fodder
I super hope they do more of this. It makes it fun to watch. I honestly wouldn't bother watching normal Cannon Fodders except i got curious about the AP and Troy's tweaks to it.
I actually like the variety… different formats keep it fresh and also allow them to react to stuff that happens on the show (or shows). So, if there’s a new show about to launch with Jared as GM… get him on the show. In some ways, it harkens back to the format when Joe had a different guest each week. It generates interest because you start wondering “How are they going to do it THIS week…?”
There’s no Men’s/Unisex bird shirt on your site!! I need it!
I agree!
Not since Twelve Angry Men has I been so riveted by process.
hahaha perfect comment :D
This is peak content.
There are near lethal levels of parasocial relationship this is creating for me and I love it
We need a Troy makes content that's just him reacting to this
Lol, the moment that Kate tried to insert the meme “How the Turn Tables” and Sydney picks up on it but it flies completely over Joe’s head and he even misreads the situation as Kate wanting a more dramatic escalation. “Let me flip the table!” Peak unintentional comedy.
It’s even funnier to me that no one comments on it after the fact.
I didn't even catch the meme reference, thanks for explaining it :D
Okay this is how Cannon Fodder is forever, right? This is PERFECTION.
Kate *is* always in chat.
The GCP positions itself against the likes of CR and D20 et al as being more like a ‘home game’. This Fod absolutely backs that’s up, this is the kind of shooting the shit that goes on all the time and was fantastic to watch. Well done guys, ur honesty and passion is what makes this project so compelling. I look forward to a random individual fod from Troy tomorrow letting us know how these guys are all so so so wrong 😂
Thanks!
Glad to see everyone in for a chat, after the weapons-grade rules argument we saw in last week's show. I know you guys are all professionals and friends, but I've been through the same stuff from time to time and it can really cause some tension at the table.
Do I think that Kate should have gotten her hit? Yeah. But holy guacamole are people being melodramatic about that episode. Some of the comments regarding Joe are completely uncalled for, glad Kate called them out.
Yeah. There's investment and then there's the reaction those people had.
I hope Joe cursed Troy's dice with his bad karma.
Also, an “end of season” or end of adventure book reunion style episode with the full crew would be such an amazing show! A nice hour or hour and a half episode or if y’all are really on a roll and end up GOING LONG I wouldn’t complain!
Just to get everybody’s thoughts on the climax of the book/story arc so far, character development, a look back on some favorite moments, or rehashing some drama; I just love to hear everybody gush.
Love y’all, keep doing what you’re doing.
May the dice giveth more than they taketh!
THE best ep on the GCN followed by THE best ep of fod! Also Kate rules!!
This was a highly anticipated Fod, and it delivered in spades! Thank you guys ❤
Joe's anecdote was great. Firstly, it shows arguments happen in even the best RPG groups and it should always be possible to reconcile afterwards. Secondly, I love that RPGing in bodegas was a thing. New York was so cool in the olden days!
P.S. Maybe it was like an audio-only thing that made people feel uncomfortable last episode. I watched the video and I never had the impression that you were ACTUALLY fighting over this thing.
“Always a nat 20.” And then just the awkward pause. I am wheezing 😂😂😂😂
You guys are the best.
I could watch you talking about anything.
Still waiting for that Francis mic on Fodder
Kate DOES attend the premieres on a regular basis - Can't recall Joe being online. I loved the Jerry Springer scenario. I really wish we had more head wag and "oh no you didn't, oh no you DIDNT" coming from the players. Also was hoping for Francis to come in and restrain Kate as she dives over the table at Joe.
Also Skid using Magic cards as his prop 😂
You know what, I was not thrilled with the decision or the drama around it in the episode, but if it gave us this Cannon Fodder reunion, it was ABSOLUTELY worth it.
I think this is the best Cannon Fodder we've had. This was just on an entirely new level of chaos and fun. Genuinely hope we see more Fods with this big of a crowd, especially when things get spicy in the main campaign!
Scourge of the Slave Lord's was an awesome campaign. We were so heavily reliant on magic items, being dispossessed of them made us feel totally helpless. I forever changed the way I built PCs because of that one. Good memories!
Favourite modules
pathfinder
Matthew: Feast of Ravenmoore, The Frostfur captives (PathFinderSociety1e season 3 #1 )
Joe: Citadel of flame ( PFS1e season1 #39)
Delta Green
Joe : the last equation, last things last(intro scenario), music from a darkened room(supposedly excellent)
Call of Chthulu
Kate: masks of nyarlothotep
I'm just like Skid, I tend to leave the room. And I did with this specific episode.
I love banter but I dislike tension.
I’m from Ottawa and went down to Toronto for the show! I think it’s very funny hearing how slow they think Toronto is against how fast I thought it was 😂😂
Every table gets into stupid little arguments like that. The good tables remain friends. I’m so glad you all remain friends. Thank you for being amazing!
Great fodder! I stand by Joe 100%. He is the player every table needs. Stand by the rules but understand the GM decides. That being said, that was a rough time for Troy to decide to start listening to the rules.
One of the things I got from this is that these guys like each other. Despite disagreements and arguments, they enjoy hanging out. I mean, Joe is just a nice guy, even when he’s wrong (love you, Joe), so it’s impossible to be mad at him even when he sides with mean-guy Troy. But, regardless, it’s great to see everyone disagree without being disagreeable. Love you guys.
Can’t WAIT to see you guys in Austin! 😁
Luckily I run an online game on Foundry, so Flat Checks are never confused with the attack rolls even on accident (because you literally hit the "attack" button and it rolls with all of your modifiers while the Flat Check is just the D20 roll).
Mine rolls both at the same time and tells you which is which
I use the pf2e flat check mod which rolls your flat check automatically on attack.
Yeah that would definitely avoid any future arguments. But online rolling is also just less fun than rolling the dice for real. 😉
@@Gargs454 I come from MUDs so I'm used to computers doing my rolling. I've actually never roleplayed in person ever
The only thing that would have made this better is that Skid had a gavel and a white wig.
This is the best fodder episode EVER, lmao! Please make this format a THING! 🤣
Best Fod yet. So much fun to watch.
I enjoyed this argument style more than I thought i would, just needs everyone to have some drinks during the episode.
Nice take on how to discuss a rules clarification. Fun and interesting, rather than just reading it from the rule book and moving on. So much fun. Can't do it every time, I understand. Well done to whoever decided on the format.
Hi. I'm a Joe Head. Love you Rules Boy!
Such a fun fodder! I know you guys don't always have the time to get everyone together this way, but the format and everyone's energy was perfect. I hope to see it again sometime!
57:27 this is prime meme material. CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT!
Kate and Skid are the most frequent visitors to chat and we love them for it! Great ep.
And when Joe comes by we tolerate it!
@@SteelyPat Joe is a more unusual treat haha
Absolutely wonderful episode of cannon fodder, love seeing the whole cast weigh in!
This was a riot! More 'Fods with this format !
Music from a Darkened Room is great DG scenario!
I GM'd that one a few years back. Agreed it is crazy fun. We had a few WTF is going on moments in that one :)
I legit had trouble sleeping last night, I was so excited to get up and listen to this Fod on my drive to work. It did not disappoint.
Joe's nat 1 this Fod will be a turning point in the campaign. Trust in the Keeper. 📚
This was truly hilarious! What a fun show, love these guys
I'm 19. I've never seen the thing they are referencing, but this is the funniest thing I've ever seen. I feel like I understand the format exactly 😂
Omg please give us more of this. This was AMAZING.
Peak fod
Kate really came out swinging with that reference to episode 18
I came from the podcast to say holy god this is so fantastic!!
The snacks are good, the people walk slow, the weed is legal. Everyone may draw their own conclusions.
I will never get tired of Joe saying some sort of "Let's do "We Are Stupid" and some "Listener Mail" and then dip" like those two segments are a literal third of every ep.
This might be my favorite fodder of all time... long time listener, first time caller.
Thanks!
HAHAH this episode was HILARIOUS!
Sydney with a dagger in her hand "WE ARE NOT ATTACKING YOU!"
Kate was blasting! Great fod all around by all, even rules boy.
This so good honestly i wish cannon fodder just was done with everyone before the main show, banter included.
This is like Sports Shouting from 30 Rock but for TTRPGs
honestly now I want to ship Kate/Joe characters bc the banter would be incredible.
I've watched this three times so far today. Awesome episode.
“I got dizzy and my head hurts” … welcome to the 30s Sydney.
I know Joe doesn't think we were out there, but I was always Team Joe!
This is my favorite Cannon Fodder yet!
Felt kinda like a bonus GCP ep. Please do this for holiday specials (maybe include themed costume/set design)
I agree with Joe, The Last Equation is dope! Can't wait for you to play more DG scenarios! :D (and Cthulhu lol) Even one shots in between seasons would be amazing
The 'Fod hasn't made me laugh like this before. Dang good time while I prep for my future table drama.
I'm on Kate's side of this debate. It took me out of the narrative and destroyed the entertainment from my perspective when the adventurers kept getting such ridiculous bad roles. It looked like a Three Stooges routine. That said, I appreciate rules, but the GM should be crafting the story and the narrative and be consistent. If there are table rules or precedents set the GM should have a narrative driven defensible reason for going another way.
To me, from Kate's example, it was already established that the guidelines here were being loosely followed. There was no narrative value in enforcing that in the session. It would have been better from my perspective to role the flat check after if it was required and then register the critical if the flat check was passed. It made more sense for that to occur and it would have made the narrative more enjoyable.
That's just my opinion.
Let’s fucking goooo!
what scenario was Joe talking about? A wizard flying over the desert sees some ruins then the party goes to investigate. What is that? Also, wacky FOD! Kate and her reality show experience working for her!
Love that you had all the crew in here (sans Troy which was a bummer) for this episode! It really made digging into all the topics much more fun!
Also, the “reunion episode” style with Skid moderating the show was *chefs kiss*
SO GOOD!
Just need some of those ridiculous camera pans and sound effects to polish it off 😂
This is the best Cannon Fodder ever, to follow up the most polarizing ep ever! I honestly agree with Prof-E, some grace would have been a better teaching moment than the GREASE that Troy put on display instead. All joking aside, I do love that the GCP feels like a real group of pals gaming. Of course that is gonna include Joe rules lawyering, Troy being a stickler only when it benefits him, the other players getting frustrated and then the eventual triumph of that nat twoooohnzoni. I gotta say, though, it went way past that point for me when I was no longer having fun as a listener because I could see on Kate and Skid's faces that they had disengaged and been let down by the dice one too many times in a day. It was also uncomfortable watching Troy visibly regret the call and hide his face even more than usual yet stick to it anyway because he feels like he has to live up to the stick to your guns type of gm style. It was simultaneously the best and worst of the network all in one ep.
People are overreacting to the argument in the ep. I was expecting a huge thing and it was like 3 minutes of gentle disagreement
I don't think most people would characterise it as gentle disagreement 😂. The cast were visibly at odds over it and it was bought up multiple times after. It wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be though - you'd think cast members were threatening to leave over it if you went solely off the neg comments on YT
@@upsidelyYou got that they were playing up the reality TV drama for humor though, right? Not that there wasn’t a kernel of truth in several comments…
I'm constantly hearing Kate and Sydney making Sims references that the rest of the group misses - when do we get to see Kate and Sydney bring their Sims skills to Labs? Maybe 100 baby challenge, or a build challenge?
Could you either add to the description or pin a comment with the adventures you mentioned in that final listener mail question?
That was fun!
Also, Kate rhymes with great, it cannot be a coincidence
Just wanna chime in @Joe, I don't believe nobody is on his side. I understand his perspective during the game (as the designated rules lawyer). The moment Troy picks to take this stance regarding the concealment rolls is wildly frustrating, as indicated by the players during the game (I felt like Matthew was at least as upset as Kate in that moment?). However, it is the rule. Of course the notion that bringing up the rule and deciding that from here on out, we will do it like this, makes more sense and feels more fair. Then again, this was way more dramatic. To a GM/DM you are a great player to have at the table @Joe O'Brian.
This was such a fun Ep. The format was great to address the DRAAAMAAA! lol
Studio FOD!!
Loved this episode of Real Housewives of Actual Play
Greatest FOD Ever!
Please add to the description the names of your shows you guys mention in last Q&A. I want to watch/listen.
My favourite scenario I've played in is definitely Castle Greyhawk, so much dumb and fun stuff in it
Only 90 secs in and I already loooove it!
Last things last is really good, I was going a short campaign and I REALLY wanted to roll it into Observer effect - basically bringing back the mad math to the plot.. to make them even more afraid :)
its the perfect " the Fod goes Reality TV' episode
This is the best episode of cannon fodder EASY
35:21 for me the 'suck factor' was mostly how in the dark you guys were during the encounter, the fact that you knew NOTHING about the Shae which just left you flailing adding to the frustration.
It didn't feel interpersonally uncomfortable at all to me.
one of the best fodds of all time
I love this, need more cast FODs!
Didn't pf1 have concealment with a D100? That would have fixed this whole discussion, dc5 flatcheck is just a 20% on the D100
It is actually little more (25%) but yeah there is a point in using different dice so you don't feel like you lost a good roll.
@@OokamiTez how is it 25%? It's DC 5 flat check, so it's 20%, no?
@@BlueSapphyre Oh you are right. I am just dump : D
for some reason I was thinking you need to hit over 5 and not 5 to clear it. My mistake.
@@OokamiTez But I agree d% would be less confusing than d20 flat check.
Scourge of the Slave Lords baby! I've run it in pathfinder 1st ed. Great modules.
I love the reunion style 😂❤ I admit i didn't enjoy the debate during the episode, but I would never leave the Naish over a little drama. You guys have provided me with a monumental amount of entertainment and your comraderie is one of the reasons I love the Naish so much. I just dont like a pause in action for rule debates, especially when they feel a lil heated. This is gold. I only wish Troy was there to face Kate's receipts 😂
This should have been a pay per view event!
This was way too good...the RP was insane
So Troy "had" to leave early? He "couldn't" be there for the FOD? Or was he just afraid to face the wrath and receipts of Kate? I guess we'll never know ... cough cough coward cough.
Loved this Version of the Fod, even though i really can't stand reality TV Shows.
Joe, just tell them that the rules are there to make the game more fun. Also, a great episode of Cannon Fodder.
I actually really like this in the studio FOD
Also, I think that Troy was on board with the 20 being the flat check because it was a 20, and he was on board with the 1 being the attack roll in the earlier ep because it was a 1.
Maybe the best fod yet
If you come out to Detroit, cross the border and try Windsor style pizzas Armando has on multiple occasions came in 3rd in Vegas for world's best. And there are a number of other great pizza joints like Capri, Naples, Arcata maestro and sarducci(larger food chunks) we shred our pepperoni and every slice is consistent. Highly recommend if you love pizza..unless you have diabetes like I do 🤣
