Thanks for all your wig tips Eileen. I have been wearing wigs for 11 years since I have alopecia. I live in AZ and wigs can get pretty hot in the desert southwest. My solution has been to cut out the tightening straps on all my wigs-I don’t recommend this unless you have a larger head and that cuts out some of the soreness that occurs around the straps-especially the velcro and bra-type tightening straps. I have tried wig grips and silicone grips and none work for me. What I have found is Nexcare Absolute Waterproof Tape that I usually cut a strip and apply to the front of my hairline and then use a few strips in the wig cap. That takes care of the itchiness and that wig won’t move. Hope this helps someone!

As someone with alopecia adding caps and bands all add to the heat of the body which makes my head itch and break out. Not found much that stops it.
It would be nice if there was a lining in wigs that was light weigh and not itch. Love this style on you. Thank you

I love wig grips. They keep the wig stable on my head (22 in circumference) and adds some cushioning. I started using the elastic in the back style and it’s more comfortable (less hot and doesn’t slip) than the grips that have a uniform shape.

You know? I've worn wigs since I was in second grade... so nearly 60 years. I still have not tried a wig grip, but I will after watching you. I find that any itching I have is from my wig needing a wash. (I live in a hot climate as well). The other most common for me is the lace front. That's why I like Raquel Welch. The actual lace material varies between manufacturers. Some are stiff and drive me so nuts I can't wait to get the wig off!😂 I get it, the lace has to be strong enough to withstand all the handling and wearing. However if the lace is stiff and plastic-y, the edge can cut in and be brutally itchy. In my opinion. I do love your tips about the grip. I just never wanted more layers thinking it would be hot. I'm going to try it though because with all the wind we got this year I had some close calls! Ha! As always, thank you for all your wonderful tips and tricks and wonderful reviews.❤

Biggest itching problem for me is the lace. If it wiggles, I am miserable. So, in addition to using It Stays, I carry a wig glue pen to touch up the lace as needed during the day. (It Stays tends to leak in my purse.). If I know I will be in a very hot or humid setting, I use a stronger glue, like Ghostbond. I do not use tape; taking it off is too much of a project.

Thanks for all your suggestions - I'm sure they will help a lot of wig wearers who are struggling with itchiness. I have found that synthetic wig caps don't really help me, because I think I have a sensitivity to synthetic fibres in general. I have yet to try a wig cap made from natural materials such as cotton or bamboo, but I think that might help. Also, I have a wig that has an especially scratchy, itchy lace front, so if I decide to wear her, I apply Scalpicin first. It does help if I'm not wearing her for a really long period of time. She's definitely not a wear-to-work-all-day wig, but if it's only for a few hours, Scalpicin works well.

A bamboo wig cap DOES help. They aren’t as tight, so a wig grip, or a stocking cap over the bamboo cap, curtails the slip.

Fabulous video! You hit on all of the points to make wig wearing more comfortable. And when it comes to a wig grip, they are a game changer! Best invention ever. I tried the "glue" however, I live in an extremely warm climate and the day it "melted" and ran down my face I knew I had to find another solution. 😃Tried a wig grip and haven't looked back. I never go without one. I also ensure that my bio hair is pinned up and sleek. I use the flat clips that you can find in any drug store. Thanks again for this video.

When my wig gets a little itchy, I know I've had it on too long and I'm perspiring. I let my wigs sit on my dressser to dry any perspiration there may be inside the cap before I put them away in the box. I'm also a big fan of the wig grip. A little hair spray on my very fine bio hair will ensure that my grip stays in place. Thanks for the great discussion, Eileen.

I think people often have an unrealistic expectation of being able to wear wigs without being aware of it. I'm aware of mine every day when I put them on! However, after a short while I forget about it - it's one of those things you just get accustomed to same as wearing glasses etc. Personally I find the open cap non lace front basic wigs the most comfortable but I do like a bit of permatease - just not all over.

Thanks for the helpful information about possible causes of itching. I haven't experienced it myself yet, but I am prepared now if I ever do! I used to use a wig grip, but recently started leaving it off, and it works great for me. I have a suspicion that my wigs are both almost too small for me. Without the wig grip it stays in place nice and I don't worry about it coming up. To be fair, I think I also had the wig grip tightened too small. It would pop off under my wig and startle me...hahaha! I just love your channel! Thank you for all you do for all of us!

My bio hair is very fine & slippery…clips, barrettes etc slide out. My measurements are small…19.5” around, 11” ear to ear, 11” front to nape…all wigs are at the least a little too big for me. Wig caps, nylon or mesh, will not stay on my head. Wig grips work but they do slide around over the course of the day. Milano Wig Grip Caps work for me because they stay in place. I also have a BelleTress Perfect Lace Wig Grip Cap that works as well. I do experience itching because it’s difficult to get a tight fit but the wig grip caps keep it to a minimum. I like Permatease & some itching may be a result of it. I’ll live with it😁 I have lost a lot of my hair at the front & I have less itching there. This is a great video! It covers all the bases. I think this type of video is valuable & very helpful regardless of where we are on our journey. Thank you, Eileen🙏🫶♥

I have some mesh ones, but never tried them since I had such bad luck with the nylons ones. (Did not glue them down like you do) But I don't really need them. I’ve been wearing wigs since October of last year. I have occasional itching and I understand that the wig not moving around does help with itching. However, I’ve tried wig grips, and I can’t tolerate the added bulk to my head. It’s more irritating, to me than the itching. The most comfortable cap that I own is by Ellen Wille. It’s the only one that I have no problems with.
