- Note: For some reason this mod stutters every beat or so on my PC and it's pretty noticeable in the video, I really hope you guys don't mind!
Super dope little sonic.exe mod I really wanted to cover on the channel! As soon as I saw it on Gamebanana i knew it's going to be a really cool mod and I definitely wasn't wrong! I know the story is just 4 dialogue boxes, but it's still insanely interesting to me... I'm guessing Xenophanes put somebody and BF into the game, but I have honestly no idea who could sonic be, it doesn't seem to be the actual him! Other than the story, the artwork looked super cool! I especially love the portraits they have, but the spritework was super well made too, I also really like the idea of it all being in the perspective of a monitor, really nice approach! The song was insanely well made too, I love the chiptune style they went with and all the different motifs were super nice to listen to and recognize! All the different effects were fantastic too, I don't think I've ever seen a mod change note skins and behaviours on the fly and it's a REALLY cool mechanic!! Would love to see this mod get expanded into something else in the future! Hope you guys enjoy!

This channel consists of videos about modifications to a rhythmic video game (some of which I personally worked on) that range from slightly difficult to very hard for most players. Four arrows fly towards the screen forcing you to press them at the right time to the music. Hitting all the arrows in a song counts as a "Full Combo", which is very hard to do and takes a lot of time and practice to be able to do consistently and is the main gimmick of my channel, which I showcase in each video. I also include secrets and extra content that might’ve been undiscovered and show them off through instructional and entertaining ways that can be used as guides, as well as occasionally adding my own input on things happening in the video, all done through my creative editing style that focuses on being concise and transformative. In the descriptions I give my in-depth opinion on the video game as well as timestamps for each part of the video. This is the first time i’ve played a mod before Flippy, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed, the cover* is a BANGER and the mechanics are interesting. I especially like the voice and how it has Jacaris’ Fleetway sonic vocals, it’s super bangin, not to mention the charting was pretty fun though it caught me off guard.
Trust me you’ll be impressed by how many banger tracks you’ll find
I think they used those vocals for Sonic because he looks stressed by the dialogue image
@@AbstractS04 The way I see it, Fleetway Super Sonic's vocals fit for the real Sonic (or someone turned into him in this mod's case) as the former is an entity of evil that resides in the latter's body in the Fleetway Comics continuity.
I like this mod a lot, it's a reference to "An Ordinary Sonic Rom Hack" for Sega Genesis! it even has the same mechanics, in the Hack Rom you play as Sonic in a normal Sonic 1 playthrough, but after a while your screen got that weird wheeze and the level that you are playing looks different, kinda "creepy" looking like Sonic.exe stages, the Badniks got indestructible and all the rings turn red, making your ring counter goes down everytime you collect one, after a while on this creepy world, Sonic.exe starts running after Sonic with the drowning music, if the drowning music ends, Sonic.exe will get you and you will lose a life. But if you get a monitor, your game will be back to the normal version of the level, so your goal is to ever find a monitor when your game turns into .exe, so this mod it's pretty accurate and has the same mechanics.
Also, love the references in the song itself, this mod it's cool!!

I mean the players want a hard sonic game can play that game lol
Fun fact: There is a "badhard" difficulty in the files. In it, you are forced to avoid the static notes thyat are usually given to the opponent. Hitting them takes a lot of health and initiates EXE mode, which already includes health drain. You are given these notes _a lot._ There are less ringbox notes, and there are only more ring notes where they aren't likely to help you. It is ridiculous. I was only able to beat it myself after I made the static notes invisible, which probably takes away most of the challenge even though I could still technically hit them.
Additionally, there are unused spike notes in the game files. These can actually be placed in the chart editor, though unless they're meant to crash your game when hit, they probably weren't finished (As it turns out, it's used to kill off Sonic before Xenophanes takes his place. I somehow missed this, so wesflip05 gamer had to point it out to me).

so ive heard this is a reference to "An Ordinary Sonic 1 ROM Hack", but based on the dialogue and such, here's my personal theory:
like flippy said, its obvious that xenophanes put someone and bf into a sonic 1 copy, though theres no hint as to who it could be. it's obvious that theyre seriously ticked off about it, though, especially because of the fact that bf gets to "stay human". maybe this is one of bfs companions, like pico maybe?
alternatively...
it looks like bf and the stranger arent very concerned or worried about their predicament. maybe getting put into the game was actually part of a plan, and it was a stroke of bad luck that xenophanes was inside their specific copy? hell, it could even be important to consider that this is being played from the perspective of someone using a computer. maybe it isnt even bf at all, but rather a meta sort of thing, involving the player themself?
This is actually a very cool theory! I just assumed that Sonic was Senpai from hating simulator, just going off the general aggression we get from the character right off the bat.
Edit: The 3,2,1 is ALSO the intro for hating simulator, further strengthening my theory.

Ah, the rom hack that made Exetior (Hope i pronounced that right) invade your game once in a while unless you attack a monitor that makes reverse the effects. Made the original experience creepy!
