- The BBC said it has not yet agreed a contract renewal with Gary Lineker, amid speculation over his future at Match Of The Day.
The corporation denied an announcement was pending regarding its highest-paid star, who it said is under contract until the end of the football season.
MailOnline reported that it had seen an email purportedly from BBC bosses preparing to announce the 63-year-old’s departure from the broadcaster after 25 years.
Isabel Oakeshott says: "I'm surprised he's lasted this long."

The trouble with scrapping the licence in one hit - it won't be allowed to fail, so it will just be funded from local or central government taxes and we all end up paying. Far better the slow, steady demise we see now as more and more people wake up and cancel. Eventually it will be so small there will be nothing left to save.

He doesn't play in the matches, he's not needed to introduce the matches or guests, so he's effectively being paid £67,000 per month just to give his opinion. He doesn't deserve that amount and nobody actually needs that amount. He's one of the reasons I cancelled my TV licence several years ago.

Quite frankly, who cares about Mr Lineker. Football fans will still watch MOTD, even if it was presented by Dusty Mop. In fact, Dusty Mop would probably attract more viewers than Mr Lineker and cost the BBC far less.
If only Mr lineker were as decent and honourable as he would like us to believe !! He is a very loathsome individual, if it weren't for the power of injunctions we would all be allowed to find out just who/what he really is!!
Leaving aside the obvious question of whether or not he deserves that sort of money - why would anyone NEED £67,000 + per month? You can buy a brand new car for comfortably under £20,000 and slap up meal for two in a top steak house for well under a couple of hundred quid. That sort of salary is obscene and completely unnecessary.
The sooner the better. Probably a box ticker will replace him no doubt.

I sent an email, asking my friend if she new of any jobs going as this place... (the place, the place where I was working is a .... insert a bunch of expletives and derogratory reasons). My email was a tirade explaining I'd have enough of this god forsaken place etc. Only instead of sending it to my frined I sent it to the entire company including my immediate boss and his boss and bosses all the way up. We had an email address that encompassed all the office and I had accidentally auto completed it in the send box before sending. Yeah, That was a bad. A really heart stopping, what have I done moment.

To send something to someone else , you`ve got to first find their email address , then place it in the send box and then attach the notes , then press SEND. Sounds suspicious to me.

Seems a bit odd that he was willing to take a pay cut but they still want rid of him? Why at this time? Particularly as he only states the politics that the BBC would agree with anyway. English Football fans never asked for him to be employed by the BBC or thought he was necessary, especially on that salary. So they paid his salary when he was a footballer either with tickets or tv subscriptions, then paid his salary via the license fee. Yet he finds most of those fans repugnant and despises them and has done little to nothing to support their issues, in favour of those he can virtue signal with.
I assume all his buddies will go on strike again.

No, I haven't ever sent a text or email to the wrong person. I use both as sparingly as possible.
I certainly have an email address and receive emails from recognised places such as the local council, bank or home delivery order confirmations. I'd take a guess that it's just shy of 5 years since I sent an email though. Text messages I send maybe 1 or 2 a year.
