The first time I saw this was in the late 80's at Mission Beach in San Diego. Talking about you Dave Nourie. I still remember. If anyone did it before Dave I'd be very surprised. Of course he had it mastered. Like a circus actor really. I was beyond mind blown! I'm giving Dave credit for inventing it, since only a couple of us even had pegs yet. And probably none of your viewers were even born yet. So rad though.
Most flatlanders call this an Unbike. First saw it on the scene in the later 80s when rolling tricks started to dominate. Super fun. Nothing like doing a Hang-5 imo, but will def help with balance and control. 2-footed is even more fun. Quick tip- If you press the insides of your feet against the fork legs, it will keep it upright and you can take your hands off. You can also turn your toes slightly inward so the bars will drop forward. Your inward facing toes will catch the fork legs and stop the bars from hitting the ground. To bring it back upright, just lift your toes up.
Tho this vids about as bad as Daltons dirt bike stuff....not to b confused w the BMX badness....catch that kookapotamus anyway u could push him dude dig it
Hey man, you should look into Stem wave therapy for your elbow. Interesting stuff. Been getting it done on my back. Uses the same tech they use to break up kidney stones to break up scar tissue. It also tells your stem cells in you body to regenerate stuff. Chiropractic office in Maitland FL has a machine.
In theory I would think it helps learn them but then again it's a whole different game once you get on a complete bike and have to learn to balance with the whole frame and backend n everything, not just up and down but also swaying side to side slightly, I wonder how much this actually helps in the long run......cool and fun idea tho.....also after watching, especially trying the non dominate foot oppo way its alot more using your hips and body compared to normally arms and legs...
Thanks for sharing your memories on this. I remember seeing Joe Gruttola at a AFA comp in NY or NJ with one. Or these. One of the mags or zines (remember those?) of the day ran a photo of him on it and called it the “un-bike”. Joe and Dave were both on Haro back then so they’d have to say who’s idea it was originally. Either way it’s cool to see old ideas being re-discovered by the new generation of riders.
We used to do this in the early 80s. I had an old set of race Inc forks and powerlite bars with an gold Araya rim...home made the peg. There was an 80s trick video we copied off of. I can't remember they guy who was in the vids...
100% can't hang5, can barely do a decent trick even. But, i noticed that spencer's regular hang5 has his balancing foot dangling back while the switch dangles forward. A little more confidence in pushing the bars forward might give a better balance point. This hang5 machine may not be able to fully help in actually doing it in the bike but if anything, this can help in gaining confidence and muscle memory in pushing the bars forward to get the balance point. I once made a manual machine though but i dismantled it for another project. It may not have helped me in actually doing a decent manual but it gave me the confidence to actually pull back and try to find the sweetspot. Built up a bike with a different geometry and i think i can't find the sweetspot on my current bike. Im thinking building another manual machine to speed up the process of figuring it out.
Im 45 and mack in my day like 93 or 94 they called it a scuffer . You did hang 5s but also practiced scuffing spinning and all that stuff . Basically a flatland machine
Boqer123 & Jimmy Oakes were cool to but they all do car shit now don't seem like they make bmx content. I wonder if these guys all still talk once in awhile especially Adam LZ n Spencer i wonder lol

You know matty did a barspin on his
It look like you in the circus man.......:)...lol...
That looks way funner than a unicycle.
I have 2 Walmart bikes in my shed. I didn't know what to do with them. I was going to make a double Decker but this looks so fun!
I mean if you make a double decker you have a spare fork anyway. So do both!
Would a bar spin be possible?
We call that an unbike. Not a bad first try my dude!

No bar out?? Also was waiting on the bike launch like in the princess game of bike back flip attempt against Trey.
I feel like our relationship has progressed with those hang 10's.

When i did that in the 90s i used as a pogo stick
How does this help when u can't find the balance point of the bike since the bike is gone? Lol
