The Highest Point In Norfolk

  • Norfolk is not completely flat as this walk, which begins in Sheringham in North Norfolk, will show. After a very enjoyable coffee at the Grey Seal Coffee cafe we set off along the sea front to the first of three hills that are included in the walk. Beeston Bump (hill) rises straight up from the town and has a trig point on the top. Clear views in all directions can be enjoyed in good weather. We descend and follow the cliff top coastal path until we head inland to the village of West Runton. After going over the railway line and skirting the golf course we head up a footpath surrounded by flowering gorse to Incleborough. The name of this top should not be confused with Ingleborough in Yorkshire! We drop down and follow a footpath through woods and climb steadily up to the highest point in the County of Norfolk - Beacon Hill (also known as Roman Camp).
    Hope you enjoy the video.

A lovely walk, but you had me fooled by the title. I expected to see you in full climbing gear ascending the spire of Norwich Cathedral! With spring's arrival, I hope you get the chance for plenty more walks in the coming months. Thank you for showing these great videos.

Ascending Norwich Cathedral…now there’s an idea that could go viral, especially if it ended in disaster as it most certainly would 😂
The idea got me thinking, is the Cathedral spire the highest point in Norfolk ? It must be close. The spire is 96m, add 7m for the height above sea level, total 103m. Just shy of Beacon Hill at 105m.

That was a beautiful walk both, we were lucky to visit and enjoy Norfolk a couple of years ago and especially enjoyed Sheringham! Thanks for sharing your walk, kind regards, Simon and Elaine👍

Thank you Simon and Elaine. It’s a walk that is fairly local and one we’ve been waiting to film in nice weather ahead of the summer season. It’s also good to prepare the legs for hills and steeper walks elsewhere in the country! Pleased you enjoyed your stay in Norfolk, we hope to film a few more local walks for the channel as long as we have a bit of sunshine. Thanks again, Selina and Tim

We thought this would be in your county top series. Hope it gave you a few ideas.
We’ve also done a walk from Felbrigg Hall to Beacon Hill, not edited it yet…so a few more ideas on there way…..cheers 👍

Thanks very much - this is one of our favourite local(ish) walks and so pleased we could film it in dry weather! Today we were down on the Suffolk coast filming around Southwold which was really breezy but made for some impressive waves. And the sun came out again which was a real bonus. ☀️
