Really like all the stones, what a great walk. Spectacular views with music that goes so well ( your music & not the racket 😂) Nice weather, no April showers. Thanks Patrick, hope you have a lovely week. 😀
What a beautiful walk Patrick thankyou, such lovely scenery, i have to admit i much prefer your choice of music! And also you can not beat a homemade cheese and pickle sandwich 😋 have a nice weekend.
You are very welcome Steph, glad you enjoyed the walk. I'm so glad you prefered my own music so thanks for that 😁 Cheese and pickle is my favourite. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend too 👍
Hi Patrick well what a fantastic walk that was you keep pulling them out of the bag , Stanage was brilliant Ox stones also might have a go walking to the pole myself !! what a picture it all was absolutely fan-bleeding tastic !!! ha
Cheers Russ, the walks are about the only thing I can pull nowadays! 😂 It's a great walk that I've not done before so I do recommend this fan-bleedin'-tastic walk 😃👍
Such wonderful hike with gorgeous views. Those rock formations are amazing. Great to see you had wonderful time 😍❤️👍👍Subbed🔔🤝Wishing you a blessed new week, greetings from Color&Shawn 🤗🤗
What a great walk Patrick, thank you. Stanage Edge is a great place isn't it.. LOL at your scathing comment about the music. I quite agree, and surprised to hear it out there seemingly in the middle of nowhere!
Glad you enjoyed it Peter. I love Stanage Edge too. Yes that music was awful, never found it where it was coming from, but Ox Stones are quite close to the city, so there must have been some kind of gig or event going on 👍
@@solitaryrambler We wondered if it was coming from Lady Cannings Plantation, which is next to the Ox Stones - they often hold raves there and continue over into the morning after the night before…..I note 15th April was a Saturday……
That was a really scenic walk so I'm not surprised it was quite busy. Nice leap over the styal by the way I'm impressed. I was once in an outdoor pursuits group. We went rock climbing at Stanage edge. As i recall, i only managed to get about twenty foot up it before abseiling down. It was that day that i realised rock climbing wasn't for me. I've never done it since. Some beautiful scenery up there but i do worry when i see you stood on the edge of rocks with a drop below. We don't want to lose you unexpectedly. All in all, a really relaxing walk to watch and reservoirs thrown in too. Such a nice place and thank you for sharing your journey with us. Cheers 😁
Thanks Kelly, I've had comments from others about my stuny over that stile! 😁 I've never tried rock climbing, but despite that I've never found any interest in it either. The scenery from Stange is superb isn't it. I am always careful when I'm out and about. I have fallen over several times, but not standing on an edge. Glad you enjoyed watching, thanks again 👍
Wow!!! What can I say? Thank you so, so much for the channel shout-out Patrick. To be highlighted by a channel of your size is a great honour. Thank you. I've hiked this in reverse from a car park near to the Stanage Pole dead end and up past the Pole, along the Stanedge Edge and on Burbage Moor to the Ox Stones. When did you film this Patrick? Ox Stones was pretty burned up around there recently. I've also hiked to Rod Moor taking in that permissive path around the Redmires Reservoir. Did you see any Water Voles in the drainage ditch to your right as you hiked anticlockwise? I saw three. They were amazing to watch. Another brilliant vlog Patrick and thank you again for the channel shout-out and the link in the description. I really appreciate it.
Morning Chris, you are very welcome and it was an honour for me to highlight your channel. I filmed this back in April, and I always say the day and date at the start of my films. I also put it in the description below the video. I've visited Redmires once before and have done Stanage several times now, but never been to the Pole or Ox Stones until I filmed this. It was a lovely walk indeed. Don't recall seeing any water voles, but I'm sure I must have passed some during this. Thanks for watching Chris and it was my pleasure regarding the shout out 👍
Another great walk Patrick. I know Stanage edge but have not climbed it. Think the Stanage pole looks familiar too. Thanks for sharing this walk reviving memories for me.
Nice walk. When I was there it was blowing a hooley, raining most of the way and the reservoirs were drained for service, which probably dates my visit. It's good to see them full now and your video has inspired me to organise a return.
I really loved watching this walk Patrick, another one to add to my list, I have been on Stanage edge before, but not on the piece you did, I love a medieval track also 😀
Awesome video again Patrick. I love Stanage Edge, though I've never walked from Wymig Brook, always gone from Upper Burbage and round Carl Walk. Love a cheese and pickle sarnie myself! I remember visiting Stanage pole and briefly Redmires reservoirs the October before COVID hit and we got soaked en route back to car 😂
Ha ha, I thought 'trig banging' what with that music Patrick. It reminded me of some of the parties I've been to over the years - our own in fact. Well, you moved away from it and eventually it faded - faded enough to enjoy some views and a cheese and pickle sandwich. Great table top and spot. I find it amazing that you're so close to Sheffield. It's the great outdoors out there. Always good to hear of the water - to think all our big cities need it. Well, nice to have that gate opened for you at the start. All the best up there. Mark
Great name Mark, trig banging indeed! 😅 Thankfully my walk did take me away from that noise, but wow it felt quite overpowering at the time. Yeah that was a great lunch spot on Stanage Edge for my cheese and pickle sarnie. It is amazing that the furtherest point on this walk was probably 7 miles or so from Sheffield city centre. There are loads of reservoirs feeding the water to the city, they certainly need it. That was well timed on my part having the farmers open the gate for me on that path 😀 Thanks as always Mark for watching and commenting. All the best to you down there too 👍
@@solitaryrambler The name is apt for this walk Patrick. Probably no trig banging next time. Good to hear of the lunch spot - we do love em when we get a good one. 7 miles? That's not far at all - it's why Sheffield has such a big outdoor scene/climbing. Well, water is boss eh? We're going to need more in the future. A pleasure as always Patrick. Have a great weekend.
Another great video, thank you Patrick. I thought it was funny how the "music" stopped when you crossed back over to Derbyshire! 👍The weather looked better in April than it does now in July. Have a great weekend. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it Joby. Yes that awful music didn't seem to reach the Derbyshire boundary! 😂 It was certainly a better weather day than of late for certain. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend too 👍
This is an incredible walk, Patrick. It's hard to think that you're only just outside Sheffield, and you've got this beautiful Peak District scenery all of a sudden, with the massive millstone grit rocks of Ox Stones and Stanage Edge. The Hope Valley is only a couple of miles away I take it. With the Stanage Pole (which I'd never heard of before), and the Redmires Reservoirs, the whole area is a spectacle to be seen. Many thanks for this filming.
Hi Patrick enjoyed your latest video and I too like the way you got over the stile , me and mum did a walk round there a long time ago. the ox stones stanage edge and stanage pole atb Cheers Glenn 👍👍👍
Hi Glenn, thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed my jump over the stile too! 😊 Ox Stones and Stanage is a great walk as you know, nice to know you did it a long time back with your mum. All the best to you 👍
Nice to see Stanage Edge and Burbage again. I've been there so often in the past, but always for the climbing. I have often wondered about the extensive tracts of open moorland stretching away behind both, so thanks for showing me some of that. Very enjoyable.
Hi Michael, thanks as always for watching. Stanage and Burbage are beautiful spots as you know, but the Long Causeway across to Redmires is a great part of the walk. All the best 👍
Aside from that bloody awful racket early in your walk that was as brilliant as ever. Can't believe that lovely scenery was just a stones throw from the city too. Great stuff Patrick.
Thank you for another interesting walk Patrick, your music is far better than the crap music which was in the distance somewhere. We have never been to these place's, thank you again, take care Dave & Jean.
Thanks for that Dave and Jean. That other music was awful, never found out where it was coming from. This was my first time to several of the places I featured too. All the best 👍
Live very locally to this area I’ve often run this exact route with running friends. Was hoping you’d visit Robin Hood’s Cave on Stanage Edge. It’s easy to find and well worth seeing while you’re up there. Thanks for a great video.👍🏻
Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm sure you will appreciate there is only so much I can feature in a 20-minute video, but I appreciate your kind words. All the best👍
Great video, once again. In all the years ive been going to the Peaks ive never heard a rave up there before. You should have taken your glow sticks...
Patrick, I thought video was going to be a disaster with that boom bass playing, but ended nicely on top of the rock formations . What brand hiking boots do you use? My favorite is Merrill or keen., Both saved a broken ankle, one time walking to big airplane museum in Duxford near Cambridge fell in hole up my waist got out shaken but unscathed, saw that cheese sarnie ,stated with monotonous boom bass ended with a choir chorus , watch out for those holes and don't go cheap on the hiking boots.
I'm glad my video didn't turn out to be a disaster! That music was awful though wasn't it. I've got Northwest Territory Inuvik Hiking Leather Boots. Due to get some new ones before too long though. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Steady on Patrick, if I went over a style like that I'd end up in hospital. Downloaded the OS map myself last week, purchased a map and added the digital download, it's really good isn't it. Stanage Edge looks wonderful. Great guitar piece you have written.
Hi Steve, I think I must have had a sudden burst of energy I never knew I had! 😂 The OS maps apps is great, I wouldn't be without it now. Stanage is lovely, always a popular spot in the Peak District. Thanks for your kind words on the music and for taking the time to watch 👍
Lovely walk Patrick, we've learned the secret of when to walk Stanage Edge, avoid the weekend 🤣. I'm expecting you now to be competing for Britain at the next stile jumping world championships, your knees are in better shape than mine lol, oh yeah the music was crap, cheers mate.
Thanks Steve. Avoiding the weekend applies to most of the Peak District to be honest! 😊 Not sure about the jumping world championships, but thanks for the thought. That music was damned awful never did find out where it came from 👍
My goodness, those views are brilliant, thank you. I really loved the music too - um, your music not that awful noise pollution stuff in the background!
A bit behind with watching your films. So catching up. That was an impressive jump over that stile. I don't think I have achieved that on walks !🙂 I know Stanage well. I'v used the OS maps app but found it took up a lot of memory on mobile but suppose if helpful plotting routes its an asset. Michael prefers the OS Explorer maps to navigate. Pretty sure that was a Music Festival - can be heard for miles around. Agree most unpleasant on the ear.
Thanks Shanita. Dont worry though, I'm conscious that I'm churning out new films a lot at the moment, so I don't expect people to have to keep up with them all. I don't know where that stile jump came from, I must have had some spinach for breakfast that morning! 😊 I like the OS map app, but I do use it sparingly when I'm out. I still have the paper maps in my rucksack at all times. I was so glad to have walked away from that banging music, never did find out what it was. Thanks Shanita for taking the time to watch and for all your comments, always appreciated 👍
Nice walk Patrick, and your own personal rave to keep you company! 😁 Good job it was unintelligible crap, or you might have got a copyright strike off RUclips!😂👍
