XSquare StickIt I discovered a neat trick that helps you with this leviathan of a final boss. The trick is to stand still in one place (the rightmost side of the platform with the stairs) and DON'T move left or right (you can jump to avoid the Mini-UFO projectiles). This will lock the Girida-O in one place and it will fire the cannons one-shot killing the Mini-UFOs. With luck you another will come so you have two Girida-Os shooting at the center of the laser cannon. You will just focus on the Rugname and the Slug will arrive earlier. Try that.
Alan BareiroXSquareS StickIt But if you're lucky to get a Laser Gun, ditch that tactic, start to move and destroy the Mini-UFOs with it. Instead of holding the shootbutton down, just tap it every 0.5 - 1 seconds. This will not only optimize your laser ammo, but you will do like 19 dmg per 4 bullets spent. Amazing for damaging both Rugname and Mini-UFOs.
It's also one of my favorite final bosses in the series mainly because when you reach the second phase of the fight, Morden's soldiers come out and help you fight it
Inside the base you can see multiple copies of Hoizumi in the background, the boss from the previous mission. I think the Metal Slug X videos were deleted but their descriptions went into this a bit... I think the buildup to the aliens is more effective in MS2 compared to MSX. After introducing strange, foreboding stuff in Mission 5, you finally see them inside the rebel base. At first it's only for a moment, leaving the player wondering "what am I up against here?". MSX plays its hand much earlier, with alien cameos in Mission 1 and their very sudden assault in Mission 4. There's much less suspense imo.
Hey, I have a question that I've been meaning to ask any Metal Slug expert like you and I'm wondering if you have the answer. I play my Metal Slug games on Metal Slug Anthology for the Wii and compared to Anthology and the original arcade versions, they both have different difficulty settings. Almost every Metal Slug video I watch uses the old "Level 1 to 8" difficulty and the ports of Metal Slug that I own have Easy, Normal, and Hard as the difficulties. So I'd like to know what does the current-day difficulty settings translate to compared to the old Level 1 to 8 difficulties?
I know this comment is six months old but NeoGeo games all ran on a level 1-8 difficulty modifier with level 4 being normal and level 8 being hard so I'm pretty sure normal is level 4 and hard is level 8. Not sure what exact level easy is set but if I remember my NeoGeo machines correctly, I think it's level 1. Also, this is coming from a fellow Metal Slug Anthology (Wii) owner. For comparison, I loaded up the iOS port of Metal Slug 1 and started the game at it's hardest (level 8) and then did the same on Anthology for Hard mode. Both were about the same, didn't notice any differences.
Well to put into context MVS version of MS had 4 difficulties Easy - Level 1 Normal - Level 3 MVS - Level 4 (default arcade difficulty) Hard - Level 6 Later ports like the ps1 version of X and MS3 for the ps2 included Very Hard - Level 8 Unclear wether normal for anthology is level 3 or 4

When I was a kid I loved it when an ally tank destroy a mini UFO with one hit.

Brother, this is not hard level.
Está en hard, los ufos disparan mucho más rápido que el movimiento del jugador
Que? Si lo esta, revisa cuanto daño toman los mini UFO
Literal está abajo la dificultad 8
