9800X3D has 20% performance gains in Flight Sim 2020, the first CPU to push 1% lows up to 60fps, this will be a night and day upgrade for anyone who enjoys racing games or simulators (and open world games in general seem to benefit most from Z5X3D).

I'm still absolutely pleased and having no issues with my Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and see no reason to "upgrade". I was lucky and only paid $349 at Microcenter in June of 2023.

9800X3d sold out in 23 min in the biggest shop in germany mindfactory, in bout 45 in the other 2 big ones (who had huge stock photos leaked) Caseking and Alternate. The other shops sold out in bout 1 hour. Happy to report that, I myself have gotten one.
It's really awesome that the 9800X3D exists, but there aren't any affordable GPUs that justify buying one yet. We're an all-AMD household between me and my wife, but neither of us is upgrading to that chip yet. 7700X is still strong enough. Here's to hoping for a bunch of competition from AMD in the GPU sector in the next few years.

man that end bit about mac is definitely true. I'm still holding out for the hopes that AMD Ryzen AI (terrible name) series will be able to compete with how good the 300 series are despite some suspicious low numbers when paired with a dedicated GPU, but if any macbook models loses that stupid notch I'm probably switching as soon as I can for how damn good they are, even as someone who has entirely isolated themselves from anything apple (due to personal familiarity and apple's ecosystem lock on their accessories. Had a terrible time with airpods on android) and consistently disliked iOS and MacOS throughout the years.

The trick is if it has multiple CCD's you don't want cores reaching across CCD's to access cache which negates the performance benefit. This is why on the 7950x3D many cores are disabled. I am not sure how and if AMD has conquered that technical hurdle but I hope so.
I am still cautiously interested in the 9950X3D seeing the uplift in AI photo enhancement, that's still "mostly" a GPU workload but Gigapixel can hit your CPU in some scenarios.
@Javier64691 having a game run on cores across the 2 CCDs will probably reduce performance due to the infinity fabric. So core parking might stay even with the 3d v-cache on both of the CCDs
AMD has totally manipulated reviews by limiting availability of the 7800x3d recently. As reviews have compared the 9800x3d with the current price of the 7800x3d very favourably. Now the reviews are out, they can make them available but at a higher price compared to its previous lows. For most the 7800x3d will be the part to go for as an extra £100 towards a gpu could make a bigger difference.
9800x3d slaps. I am fomo-ing all around with my 5800x3d tho i dunno if at 1440p@144hz it makes any sense for me to upgrade. Might as well wait for the price to come down a bit and see what the 9900x3d and 9950x3d bring to the table coz if this is any indication to what 3dvcache can do for productivity (9800x3d vs 9700x) those chips are gonna be massive in both performance and price.

LTT showed 0 improvement from 7800X3D to 9800X3D when playing at 1440p or 4K with Ultra graphics presets. The benefits seemed to exist only at 1080p Low.

Conclusion: if you already have 7800x3D or 7950x3D, just skip 9800x3D, and wait for 10800x3D. Because 10800x3D is scheduled to hit the market on this same day in 2025, and it will still be same socket
I gotta be controversial and say that the 9800X3D is NOT worth your money if you play at or above 1440p with maxxed out settings. And considering this thing costs almost 500 bucks, I feel like everyone buying this won't play at 1080p. A 9700x ($330) would be the more sensible option. Put the money you saved towards your GPU
20% performance gains over 7800X3D in Flight Sim. Pauls Hardware recorded 1% lows at 58fps, my 7950X3D would usually drop to around 40fps average in Tokyo so I'll be ecstatic if it can even hold 50fps under worst case scenario. Most of all I expect to see massive gains in frametime consistency.
20% gains in Starfield as well. I run a 7800x3d now at 4k and in Jemison I consistently get processor hitches. Gamers Nexus did a chart of all-core freq stability and 7800 was all over the place when multiple cores get heavy use, 9800 was rock solid at 5.2 with no dips and dropouts.
Reminder PC Hardware manufacturers should be fans of their consumers, we the consumer shouldn’t be fans of anything other than playing games. They need to fight for our dollars.
Why I refuse to get any apple product is because I would have to get on their eco-system as well. If I forget my password, I need another apple product to get a new password. Earphones, watch, iPhone, Mac mini I have to now get as well and I can't afford that. The Mac mini is very tempting, but I don't really need it.

I love my 7900XTX for gaming. It's been a beast for me. It's the value-adds that nvidia has that makes it enticing, with DLSS and CUDA(for me anyway).

Pauls Hardware recorded 1% lows at 58fps, my 7950X3D would usually drop to around 40fps average in Tokyo so I'll be ecstatic if it can even hold 50fps under worst case scenario.
Most of all I expect to see massive gains in frametime consistency.
20% gains in Starfield as well. I run a 7800x3d now at 4k and in Jemison I consistently get processor hitches. Gamers Nexus did a chart of all-core freq stability and 7800 was all over the place when multiple cores get heavy use, 9800 was rock solid at 5.2 with no dips and dropouts.

Why I refuse to get any apple product is because I would have to get on their eco-system as well. If I forget my password, I need another apple product to get a new password. Earphones, watch, iPhone, Mac mini I have to now get as well and I can't afford that. The Mac mini is very tempting, but I don't really need it.

as soon as you turn the resolution up and become gpu bound the 9800x3d isn’t helpful at all. Plus prices are stupid at 999 for a 9800x3d. This is ridiculous. They will not sell at retail
