My 25 yr old Taylor 414ma is a joy to play but I need another for alternate tunings. You’ve shown us the simple beauty of the 808. I’d like a cutaway burst and I think It’s time for me to save up for a birthday gift from down under! Cool video. Thanks for helping me decide.
Love your episodes mate, they're just honest, laid back, clear, you represent the guitars so honestly, true and well with no fake EQ'ing.
Would love to be able to come visit you guys one day.
Thanks for your effort making these videos and keep them coming please.
Cheers mate.
Much appreciated!
Thanks I got a cedar top because I love the colour and smell of cedar :) but actually great to understand the sound differences now too!
I clicked this to hear Maton guitars but ended up staring at the doggo.
The artist is definitely my favourite in terms of tone, it’s big and loud and that’s before you even plug it in. Being a left hander, we have to wait a little longer to get our guitars but that’s all good.
My first time hearing Matons. Great first impression.
Thanks for listening!
I recently just discovered your Maton reviews. At first, I found you really irritating, but now I find you funny (what does that say about me) and your comments about the guitars are knowledgeable and insightful. I also agree on the SRS808...one of Maton's best along with the Nashville. And that is one very cool looking guitar store. Thanks
Thank you Kevin! Glad he's growing on you!
@@ArtisanGuitars Well, I saw Aliens, I don't want anyone growing on me...but I'll still watch.
I have both the Artist and Mic Fix. Both stunning.
SUPER !
I've always like the Artist 808 the best as well, has higher quality soundboard material. AAA rated spruce. Unless going for rosewood back n sides, then the Messiah 808 is the go. Just wish they'd offer a cutaway version in the Artist model like they used to. Nice review.
it's back!
@vyvynylification Yes, I saw an post from Maton on Facebook! 👍 Got me tempted. Just sold my Nashville 808C.
I like the cut of your jib young man. Seriously, your self deprecation makes watching your vids easy. Not taking yourself too seriously is a very Australian trait. Anyway, I know you didn't feature the 808TE in this vid, but let me ask you this question anyway; what do you think are the main differences in sound between the 808 Artist and the 808TE?
The SRS808 is a great guitar.
Can’t decide which model I like more!
How different is the volume on the artist 808 compared to a dreadnaught? I love the balance of the 808 but I want something I can play acoustically around a campfire aswell! Thanks
Can you talk about the necks like shape, feel, and size in your videos too? Great stuff!
Sure thing!
Thinking of pulling the trigger on the artist but wanna check out the cole clark little lady.
Both made here in Melbourne.
Do you have a 15/8 with nut with the artist taper. ?
I love the look of those 808’s. Sound great as well. I should probably play one at some point.
Please do!
Trying to decide between the EBW808, EBG808 Artist and the EBG808TE. How would you compare those?
Hey Tim! We recommend watching this video and comparing it to our TE video here: ruclips.net/video/X0GssktxgBs/видео.html. The Sitka Spruce tops will be a little punchier than the EBW Blackwood top, while that will be a little more subdued. Thanks for watching!
I have been trying to decipher the names of these guitars for awhile. Does EBG stand for anything? I think srs is solid road series maybe? The BW in EBW stand for Black wood? But the EBG is also Blackwood. So idk. Do they not actually stand for anything?
I know the shape is the number. 808 etc.
I love your videos so much. Bought EBG808TE (wanteed the roo and traditional headstock) and have loved it!! I will say, she took a little while to break in, but now she got so much life. My brother owns EGB808 Artist which was from awhile ago, slightly thinner body, but both sound unreal straight out the jack and into DI/PA.
Just curios, what guage strings are you running, guessing stock on them, but have you tried different gauges on the EGB808's and if so what have you found works best on these specific instuments?
10 gauge nano
I had to come down from the 12s. I couldn’t bend them on the guitar, which is very stiff which is why it ringsso purely 808TE
Love the Roo
more woody in these videos! :)
We love Woody too!
I have ordered a Maton Artist to a music store yesterday but there is stile one thing that I want to understand: are there two different models of Artist? with different woods and sound?or..it's always the same? thanks in advance for your answer
I have an Artist EGB808 with Blackwood sides. I also have a TE EGB808 that is Maple sides. 2 Artist models but both with different wood.
Sending out an SRS 😅
🤣
That Police dog joke was horrible
