It is super tough if you start and the bottom and climb up to the top. Especially if the rocks are hot in the summer or cold in the winter. But its a fun challenge for sure. ~RVA
Hello RV Hiker Woman! I have been to Devil's Marble Yard decades ago and we all really enjoyed climbing the gigantic boulders! It was late Spring and the rocks/boulders were sun-warmed, we'd lie on them to warm-up. Happy Trails....
Ah yes! I’m sure the warm rocks felt great at that time of year. In the heat of the summer and coldness of the winter the experience would be very different. Love that view from the top. Climbing the boulder field is a nice challenge for sure. Thanks for stopping by and watching. ~RVA~
Thanks so much for sharing. Gonna have to put this one on my list, looks epic. Great video. Please keep them coming because I've never heard of this hike. Thanks again.
Always enjoy a bit of rock scrambling and you got some great views from the boulder field. It did look difficult to pick a safe path and so easy to twist something up there. Good to see you both got back okay, cheers Alan
Yes Alan that bouldering was tough and you easily could fall at any time. Some of those heavy rocks actually moved too like teeter-totters! Definitely wouldn't have done this one solo. Glad Erin came with me so we both could be safe.
It was so much fun! Yes, I was intrigued by the name and wondered who named it. It was a workout for sure and I would not want to do it in the summertime. The heat coming off those rocks would be crazy! Appreciate you watching my vlog of this hike! TY!
8 acres - that is a lot of boulders! Seeing your friend Erin really showed off how steep and big the boulders are! I think it would be fun to try - were they very wiggly? That’s what gets me, when you step on them and they move! Great far away view! 🥾🥾
No most of them were way too big to move from our weight on them. A lot of them were as big as cars, which is what made choosing a path up challenging. Sometimes you got to a part that you just couldn't climb and then had to turn around back track and find another path. We don't have very many boulders fields like this around so it was a real treat! Thanks for the watch, Jennifer!
So much fun! The rocks were super cold and surprisingly a lot had sharp edges. I had to ride some like a horse and shimmy butt scoot across the top. Whatever it takes to make it to the top! Thanks girl!
You just have to take your time and take breaks as needed. Climbing boulders is one of my favorite things to do! And of course, always go with a partner. I would never try this solo. Thanks for check out this video! Appreciate ya!
That wasn’t the parking lot that was like 5 miles down the road in the wrong direction, lol. But yes it was an awesome view of what I had just climbed.
Great video. I was out there a couple of months ago but did not boulder. I had hiked in from the AT starting at the parkway with a heavy multi day pack and had more to go that day. May return one day to do what you did. Thanks for the tip on the website Go Hike Virginia.
This was a Missing 411 case waiting to happen...boulder fields, 'Devil' in the name of the place, wearing brightly colored clothing... Glad that you survived! 😂🤣
I would have never done this alone. Honestly, no one should for safety as you could fall down in between those boulders and no one would ever find you amongst the 8 acres! I was safe, I had my hiking buddy Erin. Not sure how it got its name - I should research that. Thanks for watching Brant!
Awesome video! I will certainly be checking out Erin’s blog to learn about some cool spots in Virginia! I’ve heard Devils Marbleyard was tough but after watching this I will certainly put it on the to do list. I’m also on VA and have just started posting some of my hikes. Would love for you to check them out and to give some feedback
There is a washed-out side trail that runs along the boulder field all the way up on the right. You can't miss it. Some people take that up instead of climbing the boulder field. But I love bouldering, so I took that route. ~RVA~
This is a hard hike. But a very fun one.

I’m 3 years behind you, but yeah - this was an amazing hike!
It’s been a minute since I was there but hoping to go back this year sometime. Climbing boulders is fun!
I am so glad that we connected! You do the same type of hikes I do minus the boulders! Looking forward to seeing more!
Me too! Thanks so much for your support. Love my fellow girls in the outdoors!
Beautiful trail an hike, but I can see me breaking an ankle on those rocks. It got its name honestly, devils marbleyard. Happy Hiking 🥾🥾👍🏻🏔

@@RVAHikerGirl 👍👍That would be fun to try!
I think I would love that hike too! 😀 Those boulders are pretty hard sometimes, but often more fun than a 'freeway' going up! 😀 Have a great day! Kaat

Awesome nature here's... Great sharing hiking video my friend... Rocky track looking a bit dangerous... Careful... 🇲🇾

Heck of a rock scramble. ✌👍
It sure was! But so much fun! An 8 acre playground right there!
Wow! that view from the parking lot. It DOES pay to get lost. :-)

Oh Iove finding hiking girls.
New subscriber here :)
Welcome treklinda! Happy you found me! Feel free to watch away! I have tons of hiking vids! Yes us hiker girls gotta stick together!
looks like a good place to hike
Absolutely! But I wouldn’t recommend it in the hot VA summer. Fully exposed to the sun and those rocks would be pretty darn hot!
I try to do as little bouldering or rock hopping as possible ... My old knees don't care for it... LOL I will leave those for the young and agile .
I hear ya! My knees aren’t what they used to be!

I would opt for the trail around the boulders.
Was it easy to find the trail from the top of the boulder field?

@@StormsHurt i’ve been meaning to head back out there and do it again while the leaves are on the trees. It sure is a great one.
That looks pretty fun climbing up those boulders. Nice video! I have subbed . I also have a hiking channel, if you could check it out. Thanks.
