  • Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers vetoed a bill proposing to ban the teaching of critical race theory concepts in schools.
    Assembly Bill 411 would have forced the schools to change how educators discuss race, discrimination, and other classroom injustices.
    Evers said the proposal that passed the state Senate 20-13 was a form of censorship, restricting schools from teaching quote, “Honest, complete facts about important historical topics like the Civil War and civil rights.”
    High school social studies teacher William Reusch joins Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to share his take on critical race theory.
    All this and more on “Black News Tonight.”

    Anytime Lil Billy or Tyronne/ lil Beth or Keisha can distinguish a difference between where the people who don't look exactly like them largely lives, the environment differences & conditions there-in & poses the question: Why?...it should not be answered based on the comfortability of an apprehensive teacher or any uninformed adult. They deserve a comprehensive reply (rooted in both truth & history) by an educator willing to break-down the 'why' appropriate to both a classroom audience & an individual's capacity to learn. The main tool in use for this is...*drumroll*....Teacher/Educator Professional Development.

    • @MPR2
      @MPR2 2 года назад +2

      Education CAN'T be neutral, that's impossible. It's impossible because America is a racist country. White supremacy and extremism is on the rise and students need to be taught that so they can navigate race and its effects in this country. Students of ALL colors need to be taught that America is not yet equal and we need to continue to fight to make it equal.

    • @ITold-YouSo
      @ITold-YouSo 2 года назад +1

      @@MPR2 I see what you're saying, thanks for the input. I just don't see both things are mutually exclusive.
      What I think is really going on is that the rise of these white extremists and sentiments or generally conservatives coincides with the rise of the "progressive" left. Both sides basically feed on each other. Hateful racists will always be there, but the majority of them will possibly die out eventually. It just can't happen overnight. And when the you talk about racism that much and see it everywhere it becomes your reality, even though things are probably not as bad as they seem to be. (I'm sure in regular life you meet enough people that are good, whatever color)
      So the left by being so forceful and lot of times stupid and extreme IMO makes the conservatives even more defensive. And therefore the public discourse has become too hyped up and hysterical and you've become stuck. The US needs to find a common ground and common sense in all this, otherwise you won't move forward. Both sides need to get more reasonable and own their mistakes.

    • @MPR2
      @MPR2 2 года назад +2

      @@ITold-YouSo I'm disappointed to see you "Both Sides" this, the left is not extreme nor hateful nor overtly racist like the right, there's NO comparison between the two. The right wants to take away our freedoms and rights, the left wants to give us healthcare and higher wages. Please don't try to be neutral, that would be immoral. Open your eyes, WAKE up to reality, admit the truth.

    Critical Race Theory👻 (in 1975 Europe I was taught it's basics, age 13, partly literally & partly by connecting the obvious lecture/topical dots in my mind, but in most west-Europe junior/-high schools it is merely a minor factoid in 'post-16th century world history' - it's 1 reason why many Europeans are currently looking at horror at the 'sudden' shift to identity-supremacism in the US). Q: Why are a slight-majority of US whites so afraid of factual contextual US history coupled race discussions?
    Answer (in descending order of behavioral-sublimation magnitude): (a) the US culture-wide suppressed collective-and-personal-unconscious taboo-avoiding class-struggle/classism (a.k.a. fear of an empowered working-class, or even worse: fear of an overseer-class, a.k.a. middle/lower-management-class, co-siding/co-struggling with an empowered working-class against the elite-ruling-class, and then on to the more 'conscious' American-wide culture...
    (b): starting with descriptive titles and the American-wide denial or suppression of contexts, paradox, and complexity in almost any degree: 'critical thinking' (a.k.a. 'scientific' or 'logical' or 'analytical' or 'holistic' thinking) is considered by a slight-majority of US whites as the biased-ignorant wet dreams of elite ivory-tower white-socialist/foreign-socialist (even Jew-socialist or Papal-socialist, for white supremacists) and radical law-skirting ghetto-escaped black activists susceptible to 'un-American influences' (i.e. foreign and/or not-of-European-descent influences), so any 'theory' coupled with the word 'critical' is considered an attack on 'American values' (code for 'white-American' values) (even the word 'theory' in many US white's minds is akin to 'lie' cos in their minds 'theory' is not 'fact' therefore = 'lie', note: half of Republicans think dinosaurs and humans existed side-by-side, they also think the US higher-education system in rightwing-run school-districts is the best in the world by far and would be better if kids were taught less about life and indoctrinated more about how great of-European-descent-American-culture-&-economic-system is), so...
    (c): Actual 'critical race theory' is a no-brainer to many white people (critical thinkers) outside the US (I was taught the general summarized-paragraph concept as a 13 year old in 1975 Europe without realizing it!) and is largely about how the white financial/power elite are puppeteers for the majority white non-elite as well as non-whites and blacks in particular, and how white elites use white-'servants' to keep non-whites and non-elites alike in their subordinate place, and how historically that happened and how it permeates the society today and always into the future unless enlightenment (critical race theory) becomes the norm:

    CRT will never be taught in America. Understand that!!

  • @ChrisVanSlykeCVS
    @ChrisVanSlykeCVS 2 года назад

    Marc here are some objectively divisive pedgogies that are characteristic of CRT and are being taught in schools 1) Associating all inequality in the west today with a race or a concept of race like "whiteness" Inequality exists and will always exist in every culture despite the communist utopia envisioned by Marx or racial justice envisioned by CRT identity communisits 2) Claiming and teaching there is something structurally racist simply because of outcomes without any evidence or little evidence of discrimination. The 15 year average age difference alone can explain most of the inequality between blacks and whites we see today 3) Looking at the color of a persons skin then inferring negative predispositions onto the individual An example is that person is inherently superior because of their white privledge. 4) Treating people as groups often based on one superficial characteristic like race with one designated as superior and one inferior or oppressor oppressed 5) Claiming that the past inequality caused by clear racism is evidence that the present system is racist even though the present explicitly through laws and social norms makes discrimination illegal and immoral. CRT has become a conspiracy theory to explain inequality of outcome.
