    This old Sanford and Son truck was parked at a gas station for years on Russel Road and Mountain Vista Road in Las Vegas just four doors down from Red Foxx's home. How it ended up there is probably a good story.
    After Mr. Foxx passed away the truck disappeared. Looks like the white painted lettering on the doors were redone as the original paint was faded. Great find for you. T.V. history!

    I grew up in *BRUNSWICK,* which is the town on the south side of Strongsville, and I still live about 20 minutes from Strongsville. I had no idea this famous truck was right in my backyard!! I have to touch it once. ALWAYS loved the show, and still do. So many famous lines and scenes.

    My uncle Carl had a truck like this in the 1960s. As I recall, it was green and funny it wasn't any better condition. I have very fond memories riding in it from Chicago, Illinois, to Milwaukee Wisconsin. And watching Sandford and Son was a great show. And always reminded me of the memories with my uncle.

    A little info on the truck.
    It is a 1951 Ford F-1 pickup painted in Vermilion Red. It either had a 226c.i. I-6 rated at 95hp(most likely)or the optional 239c.i. V-8 rated at 100hp. It also most likely had the light-duty 3-speed manual transmission on the tree, but could've had a 3-speed HD or a 4-speed. No automatic trans offered.
    This is the first generation of the Ford F-series(1948-1952)truck line we know so well today

It broke the engine away from the transmission, breaking the frame, put my head through the rear window cutting my head from ear to ear. Sad day. I was 16.

Sit-coms started with Sanford and Son. Fred had the humor that made the era. It couldn't have been a high budget to run for the studio. I wish it could have lasted. The humor was genuine! I really enjoyed this piece! Tom Kipfer

    A show that always brings me laughs even though I saw all the episodes 100 times over. A legendary TV show made in a time when we were okay to laugh at ourselves. If you look closely at photo's during and after Sanford and Son, this truck went through more mild restorations than it appears. Keeping a patina on it makes it appear that not much has been done to it.

    • @adrianmonk4440
      @adrianmonk4440 Год назад +1

      Nailed it, when it was okay to laugh at ourselves !!!. Every, Every, Every family tree regardless of flava HAS SAP. When we became brittle & spend most of the time finding fault in others in a CAUSTIC WAY, we lost comedy, and we became polarized. We didn't change the world for the better, We made it more reactive. I AM NOT SAYING BLACKS HAVE TO BE THE BUTT OF JOKES, I AM SAYING WE ALL NATURALLY ARE.

    The BBC Series was called Steptoe and Son, they used a horse and cart not a truck, it was about the son (Harold) and the father's (Albert) love/hate relationship,sadly the actors did not like each other in real life. Great Vlog loved hearing about the US version .

    • @Statimtek
      @Statimtek 6 лет назад +1

      Albert was played by Wilfrid Brambell who was Paul Mc Cartney's grandfather in the Beatles "A Hard Days Night" movie. The running gag about the grandfather was "he's very clean" Which is the complete opposite of Albert who in one episode picked up their horse's manure and put it in a bucket with his bare hands then proceeded to eat his sandwich. : P

    I ran across this video today on RUclips. I can add a little more history to this truck. On Labor Day weekend 1992 this car was auctioned at the Cruse auction in Auburn, Indiana. The car’s title was still in the name of John Sanford. I was one of the last bidders, and went out at about $5500. The winning bidder bought it for around $6500. I’ve thought many times that I wish I had bought the truck. Good video!

      Yes, both men were stand-up comics in Vegas, back in the day. In fact, Pat Morita’s act was called THE HIP NIP, a caricature of an Asian man, with exaggerated accent, buck teeth etc.
      In a bit of side-trivia: when they were casting the part in Karate Kid, the producers didn’t even want to give Morita a test, as they knew of his ‘Hip Nip’ past and didn’t take him seriously. However, he tested and blew everyone away. The rest is history.

    Yes, it seemed like the Redd Foxx production studio in Hollywood served mainly as a screening room that was available for rent. I saw an early screening of "Scanners" there.

    I remember that lawsuit. Grady was on there quite a bit where Redd was absent. I forget the pretext they wrote for his abscence.

    Love your videos and I'm a HUGE Redd Foxx and Sanford and Son fan! I hope I get the chance to see this legendary truck one day myself! To me this is the most iconic TV show vehicle ever up there with Al Bundy's Dodge!

    Jordan and Jah, you ought to have 380K subs instead of 38K! This channel rocks! I so enjoy watching you and can't wait each day to see the next video! You take me to places that I didn't even know existed and when I see these places I love them!

    Nice to see the actors showing up for pictures and putting the signatures on the truck. Paul Michael Glaser even drives around in replicas of the Starsky & Hutch Torino that fans have built or purchased themselves. How cool is that...

    I have a 1951 Ford F1 in about the same condition except for its blue with Rusty spots. I thought about painting it red to making it look like the Sanford and Son truck

    I notice the chrome molding around the windshield is now missing. You can see it in "Lamont's" close-up in the truck of the show's opening scene.

    I wonder if it still has the old flat head engine? We took ours out and replaced it with a 302 V8
    BTW, These trucks were manufactured in Richmond CA.
    Ford was assembling Military Tanks at the Richmond Plant, durring WW2 prior to producing the 51 and 52 Ford pick-up truck.
    They only made that model for 2 yrs.

      Not really Amos and Andy were sellouts, Sanford and son was very warm and it maintains reds,humor and dignity I'm glad he hired a bunch of friends along.i hate how they cheated them out of the money they earned.

    Okay - now that we've finished watching The Rockford Files, we'll give Sanford & Son a shot. Nothing could dethrone the Rockford Firebird from #1 on our list of TV cars to covet, but who knows how we'll feel after a season or two of S&S. Thanks!

    Redd Foxx told me Personally that Redd Foxx’s Mother was the Maid for John Dillinger there was a picture of John Dillinger in his Office and I just happen to be staring at it and he told me the story of why he had it. He said John Dillinger treated him and his mother like Royalty. He had also told me that Frank Sinatra was one of his best friends as well. But some of this Story is Totally Wrong!
