They are really comfortable around each other. Other gorilla couples seem very tense and stand off-ish ( Momo and Genki). But Shabani and A.I. really like to be around each other. So cool to watch them interact with each other. Such a beautiful couple.

@Ana Arteaga best idea in my opinion is get rid of everyone except Shabani and bring in fresh females. Ai has been with her mother all her life. She needs a change of scenery, and of course the younger ones we already know what’s in store for them and I don’t know what would happen to Nene. Not sure how that works (as far as in the wild or something close to it).
Its a shame that the two great silverbaks of Japan are just sitting idol with no females that want babies. Momo and Shabani are in their prime! They need willing partners. In the wild they would have way more wives and babies that is the down side of living in captivity. But the other choice could mean death, but they would have more females. The life of the gorilla who l find most fascinating!!! Lol
I get sad about this situation, I don't think they thought the breeding process that far ahead...it is what it is..I find it hard accept this crap..🤞💛🥴

The problem you arent thinking about are how happy the other gorillas would be. Genki hates having other females around as it stresses her due to the fact that an alpha and beta female hierarchy is what happens if they are not family. Genki got so stressed that she would bite her fingers, leading to amputation. Ai and Nene are compatible as they are mother and daughter. Introduce another female and it would be bad.

何か環境や家族の変化をきっかけにアイちゃんのホルモンモードが噴火するかもしれませんね。ネネは最初のパートナーのリッキーと一緒に東山動植物で同居していた時、ネネは妊娠しなかったそうですが、(交尾していたかしていないかは分かりません)リッキーがモンキーターンかどこかへ一旦貸し出され、またリッキーが東山に戻って来た時にアイを授かったそうです。くわしいことは分かりませんが、一旦離れた事で気持ちの変化があったのかもしれませんね。東山動物園の図書館に古い資料を見るとアイは最初に産んだ子を腕に抱いている写真がありました。抱いてはいたけど授乳がうまく行かなかったのではないかと思いました。京都のゲンキさんもホルモン復活でキンタロウくんを授かったのでもう少しでアイちゃんも復活して頂きたいなあっと思っています。ホントじゃれていい感じなのですかどちらもあと一歩踏み出しませんね😁

私の推測ですが、リッキーとネネは兄弟のように育ってしまって異性として認識していなかったけど、リッキーが他園で学習してきたのか、ネネがリッキーを兄弟ではなく、パートーナーとして求めたのかもと思っています。アイが以前の妊娠時の様子は普段と違い激しい感じらしいです。
