I'd like to point out that the clothing they are wearing isn't kimono. Kimono is Japanese traditional clothing and as BTS are Korean, they are wearing modernized version of Korean traditional gowns for men with traditional hats. Korean traditional clothing is called 'Hanbok'.
Isn’t it cool how well versed we have become with our vocabulary?!? That was the first thing that stuck for me too in this reaction. In my head I was telling DT: honey, that’s not a Kimono. Kimonos are Japanese. What the boys are wearing are Hanboks. ☺️ The more you know! 😆
Lol, the moment he said kimono, my first thought was "oh no, DT... it's a hanbok - they're gonna get you in comments..." xD To be fair, most people internationally know of kimonos, but aren't really familiar with hanboks unless they're into Korean culture. As a Korean, I appreciate you guys setting people straight about it in such a nice way. Borahae. 💜💜💜
Haha.. kimono - this was the first thing that struck me as a NO NO DT! You didn't. 😳 But it's nice to see how many non-Koreans are making corrections on here. As a Korean-American.. I'm touched! Thanks all!
The part where RM is stuttering while rapping - he's basically making fun of people who at first insulted them when they were small then suddenly when BTS became big, they want to apologize and be all nice to them. They're calling out all the fakes in the companies and entertainment industry. He's making fun of how they apologize, stuttering and shit. RM's not even raising his voice in the song because he doesn’t have anything to prove to anyone, it’s like “I’ll just give you this real quick, don’t even worry about it” 😂😂
DKDK did a good job in explaining the korean word play, but still missed some parts. Like RM suddenly stuttering, where he is mocking other rappers or J-Hope's whole verse about others trying to figure out how to copy their success (which YG entertainment is especially known for.. and SM too.. they've actually been investing money to get to understand BTS' fame when it is obviously not a thing that can be copied) Yoongi's part is also about how no one believed in them, looked down on them, cut them out (of shows, concerts, etc) and how the boys got on top DESPITE all that
@@TheLittlelan Just because Latino cultures share elements with Spanish culture does not mean they are the same. That applies here as well. It's quite ignorant to conflate them as such. No one is saying it's "his fault" but people should take a second to contemplate what they're saying and rethink thought processes ie. why they would automatically assume that an Asian wearing a robe like garment is wearing a kimono even though that is not from their culture.
There are two things you need to react to that's connected to this song. The Behind the Scenes of how they made the song ddaeng and the vocal line live performance of ddaeng.
Mr. Parker! As a Korean who understands the language, every time when I hear this song, it’s always impresses me! These 3 BTS rap liners are words geniuses with the class of their own! And YES! You are right about JHope ! Because of his street dancer background, when he is on stage, you can feel his strong street dancers energy! Thank you for this fun reaction video & looking forward to your next one! Be Happy & Healthy!!!
V was so happy when he and the other BTS members got to perform Ddaeng during their 5th muster. What a happy bean he was. Biggest group in the world? V: I only wanna be in the rap line. XD
my favourite part of this song is definitely namjoon's verse. the explanation video doesn't mention it, but a lot of people have said that the part where he's stuttering refers to people in the industry who have hated on them in the past approaching them at award shows/music shows and nervously apologizing/trying to make small talk.
Nahhh..gangster what?!...hiphop what??!..yoongi, rapper who spit fire and savage lyrics wearing women dress, thats LIT!! Cloths is just mask, but never can covered up the true Talent!! Yoongi is real and proof that..
RM killed his verse! You need to understand & appreciate his verse! That was a fire verse 🔥 the stuttering & mocking while eating up that beat was everything! Best part of the song 💥
Even Korean people wouldn't understand all the wordplay in Ddaeng without studying the song and thinking hard... BTS really is making everyone learn and think and feel. Between their outstanding stage presence and their wide variety of talents and skills, lyricism/storytelling is, arguably, their most outstanding ability.

It's not a kimono, since kimono is Japanese. They're Korean, so they're in hanboks. Also, V casually crashing at their stage is one of my favorite moment of the Festa
Ddaeng can be type of said as - You are wrong or something. Sound used when you are wrong When we can't answer something than a Sound like Ddaeng!! Means you are wrong.
My suggestion for next time you do a trio like this: first lyrics, then explanation and then live. I think the live, would be so much better for you. Anyways, I really enjoy your reactions - I live in Denmark, so your videos are the first thing I see in the mornings. Thank you and have a nice day 🍀💜
DT, I totally agree with you when you said 'Where else could a guy like me learn this about Korean slang and culture?' I really love learning about other cultures, which is one reason I enjoy being ARMY... not just learning about Korean culture but also other ARMYs' cultures as well as cultures referenced by BTS in their art!
I don't know WHY eventhough i already know about the meanings and messages inside bts songs and their genius lyrics and everything, it makes me awestruck every time i hear about them. Like this was the fourth ddeang video i watched and still I'm surprised like the first time.
Love your vids. Especially like the way you're communicating with and answering David in DKDKTV. So fun! Yeah, where else would we learn all this? You are so right! 🙏🇫🇮
These guys-all 7 of them- are livewires on the stage! Their passionate performance and stage presence is unparalleled! Ddaeng is my favorite from the rap line!
Each BTS song is like a Charles Dickens novel. Light on the outside but full of complexities, symbolism, allegories, and inner meaning. So much fun to jump into the rabbit hole of each song!
A lot of the lyrics are English, but pronounced in a clipped Korean way. In my opinion, the details of the card game are not all that important to deciphering the significance of the song. But the song is still very clever and blunt at the same time. Quite the achievement, Namjoon. I adore joonie.
What I love about BTS is that they are straight up savage but they do it in a very artistic and classy way. Those that have insulted them have no choice but to admire and accept when they know they've been beaten. I still remember when they first started and RM was reading mean tweets and looked at the camera and said "We will prove it to you all".
Ddaeng basically means like, “wrong answer”! So everything they’re saying they’re like, “youre wrong! That’s not true!” Blah blah blah blah blah! Ya get me?!
I wanna Like this a million times. For Ddaeng, for the live Festa performance, for V's cameo in that performance, for the HANBOK and culture it gave us again, for RM's stuttering, J-hope's mad flow, Suga's pause in his verse, and for DT's entertaining reaction. Thank you.
I say this almost every time I see someone react to this explained video. I really like the cultural aspects, but I feel like David missed the mark when it comes to his interpretation of 'frog in the well'. I think RM is not mocking other people for being stuck in KOREA, but for being stuck in a narrow mindset that prevents them from exploring new and different ways to do things, and that's why they'll never grow out of where they are professionally. RM is very proud of Korea so he wouldn't use it to mock someone. But he would roast people who always say "a rapper can't do this' or 'an idol singer can't do this' - that is a frog in the well mentality and because they are willing to look and expand beyond their boundaries, that's why they're the most successful and people who refuse to get out of their well will die in there.
I remember when some antis tried trending something like BTS became "westernized" after appearing in US tv and award shows. This is partly why they wore hanbok while dissing those people. They wanted to show that they are, and forevermore, Koreans.
This is my favorite Rap song. And I love the way you are bringing out the part of the ARMY who really have been around awhile and who understand where things come from culturally and within the BTS history... I read the comments too as much as I can (OK, yes, I'm slow and sometimes I fall asleep before I can finish them ). And I've spent a LOT of time following BTS on RUclips, Twitter and in the press and sometimes on Quora... (I have no life... sigh) But I've only been doing this for a year now and there is still so much to see. Sometimes I feel like I walked into a cave and found this beautiful cavern full of gems. I want to stay and take in all the sparkle.
Today I discovered bts song Hip Hop lover and it took me back to my childhood and all of the reasons that I fell in love with hip hop. From a rapper, dancers and producers perspective and how hip hop is apart of the soul and when it calls to you like a siren from the sea you can not resist your hip hop love affair. armys always said after they went to BTS concert , they got bias wrecked by j-hope (including me). his charisma and charm literally radiates happiness the entire time, he always smile. even if he is not bias, he is your bias. you just can't deny his persona on and off stage.

RM's not even raising his voice in the song because he doesn’t have anything to prove to anyone, it’s like

true

They didn't particularly miss it, i believe they just didn't explain it on purpose, just like they did for their Beapsae lyric explanation.
Hey thank you for that!
It’s not a kimono, it’s traditional Korean wear call hanbok 💜

armys always said after they went to BTS concert , they got bias wrecked by j-hope (including me). his charisma and charm literally radiates happiness the entire time, he always smile. even if he is not bias, he is your bias. you just can't deny his persona on and off stage.
