After many months of designing, building and tuning, my two axis gimbal is now working well. Stable and sharp video at all speeds and 90 degree look down on a slider. I found that the roll level position changed a little each time the gimbal was powered up, so I now have the roll controlled and trim it level with a small spirit level before each flight.

My own gimbal design with GoPro mount. Allows quick change between fixed and stabilised camera. GoPro is protected behind gimbal mount and removable UV filter which allows the use of ND and other types of filters where required.

Well the inspiration from your videos has resulted in this video linked to here. I think the fact you built your own kit was key to me, they are a lot of great videos out they but so many are done using off the shelf equipment but not you. I know I am some ways off getting footage like yours but hopfully one day!! I'm sure when you see the shadow in my video you will think you were there ;-) I have still a lot to learn!! ironspider, I'm so pleased that your persistence and hard work have paid off to produce this beautiful video of west Wales. There is zero 'jello' and your flying is very smooth. I loved the shadow! Well done.

Wow, very nice! I have always been impressed with the smoothness of your videos so am a bit surprised you have gone down the gimbal route, more weight! How manny grams does the gimbal come in at? I have completed my build of your quad design, a bit modded and with a 3DR Pixhawk in control, I and am very pleased. Keep up the great work and videos!! Here a little footage - 1st Autonomous Flight
Thanks and yes I still love the fixed camera, both produce quite different effects. The gimbal weight without the camera is 200g, it adds about 90g over the fixed GoPro case. The quad manages the extra weight without a problem.
I'm very impressed with the quality of video from your new quad. The video is sharp and stable, what changes did you make to the design? The Pixhawk looks very precise as well, I look forward to seeing more videos from your new machine.
