This needs more views. I don't know anything about programing or code so I can't do anything with your information, but I loved Wii U and I hope this can reach more people before Nintendo tried to prevent anyone from making quality Wii U homebrew games
Great tutorial! I'm surprised, are they still giving the SDKs for 3DS and Wii U if you sign up on the developer website today? I honestly thought they locked up the older consoles stuff once they're "dead".
the only thing remotely close to coding that i've done was to mess around with jbeam files in beamng, but i might give it a try, maybe with visual scripting.
Question. Is there no way to make this whole thing work with a more up to date unity version? (not even the latest like 2023 or 2022, just something like unity 2018 or 2019 would do wonders!) cause unity 2017 is a bit outdated & most of the new unity features require at the very least unity 2018 (like spriteshapes & the new unity input system)
That's a good question, sadly I don't think it's possible. The Wii U build support was discontinued after 2017, I am sure there's ways to get around it, but I have not found it yet
I think I know the issue. Maybe it has something to do that Im using the homebrew launcher as an app. Because now, Loadiine wont open at all and just reboots me into the hb launcher. I will try again with the Mii Maker version and let you know if it works
I found the solution. I was just stupid. I created the games folder on the root of my sd card and not in the wiiu folder. And I did some tweaks to make the gane much lighter. (Roll A Ball is not a game which should be 1,5GB big) Now its only 50mb.
Hey, i dont seem to see anything about developer support, i signed up as an individual and only see a admin tab, is it beacause the wii u service is down ?
Hmmm, that is a weird issue. If you are trying to get the SDK you may need to sign up as a developer or try getting info/files from the Internet archive
Yes! If you install the Wii U built support The help menu will add a new button for Wii U documentation. Separately if you sign up for the Nintendo developer website they still have all of their documentation up
@@thedevatlas woah... and here I thought at least some things would be discontinues. Glad to know its not lost media or anything. Is the Unity help documentation the same as Nintendos? If not it might be good thing to achieve in case 1 has information the other doesn't
@@thedevatlas That sounds pretty important. I'm surprised the unity documentation doesn't tell you how to get someone's Miis from their Wii U! Too bad that stuff is locked behind a legally-binding NDA and Nintendo can remove it whenever they feel like it...
I got a Nintendo Switch ad while watching.
Yah no kidding
Been on the fence about both jailbreaking my Wii U and learning how to make games and I might have just been convinced to do both.

3 hours and 120 views? severely underrated.
Edit: And you exported this in 4k 60fps?!?!?!
Cool, now can i force chat gpt to code it for me?

They do lock stuff down, but I was surprised how open they were
@@thedevatlas can you tell me where to put the cafe sdk????

beamng is so fun
also the only coding i have done is a prank program that plays a rickroll on the victims pc at random times with a batch and mp4 file
or maybe when i forced chat gpt to make flappy bird in html and javascript
@@Xpnvh now that i think about it, i could use chatgpt's help.
@@shibe32do you want my rickroll code? idk i just really wanna share it with someone
I'd definitely be interested in making a 2D game

@@thedevatlas Please if you find a workaround to get it working on unity 2018 or above lmk! that'd genuinely be extremely helpful!
I have a problem, my game doesnt show up in loadiine.
I copied it over to my sd card, started loadiine and then... Nothing.
What should I do?
Hmmm, idk I have had many issues with loadiine. It could be your unity build settings. That has been the source of most of my errors.
I think I know the issue. Maybe it has something to do that Im using the homebrew launcher as an app. Because now, Loadiine wont open at all and just reboots me into the hb launcher. I will try again with the Mii Maker version and let you know if it works

They do seem to have different things, one major difference is the Wii U documentation has extra things on the USB and storage and miis and stuff

Yes, yes it is

internet archive data breach and yep, no games for me
