You have inspired me to step into shoes, I loved how happy it feels running. Progressed a lot in a year. But all of sudden things happened ,felt low, and so it happened to you. Your start has inspired me yet again to step out. Yes,stuff happens, but keep running towards love n peace. #for all the people out there with so much suffering ,find peace in yourself,it’s okay to stop and restart your run. Love from India.
‘Taking it easy’ runs up Ben Nevis
No disrespect but it's not mount Everest and the elevation gain if you only run/walk straight to the top is pretty average for a well trained runner
Looks great well done I have done 106 munros so love Scotland which is where I am from bisopbriggs but live in Epsom Surrey . I can run up box hill with ankle weights on so I may be cable of doing Ben Nevis run maybe next year .
Love running up mountains, well done... stunning... Just run the Yorkshire 3 peaks with my sister.. awesome
Massive fan of the channel Ben! Started running for the first time properly since school three months ago (now 24) and gone from 27 min 5k to a 19:34. Also completed my first half marathon in 1:38 a few weeks ago whilst doing a 22k tempo run 😂 cheers for the inspiration👌🏻
oh WOW, that's amazing progress Anthony! Born to be a runner obviously! Kudos to you!
Nice work
I started around 26 mins and got down to 22.34
Any tips to get the next PB and work on sub 20?
SWIM GOOD I increased my mileage each week to about 60km (still increasing) with a lot of easy mileage at MAF/Z2 HR plus I added a few speed sessions consisting of 5x1k with easy 1k’s in between (so a 10k run). The fast km’s I aimed for 3:45-3:30 pacing. I also did shorter tempo runs with 2km easy, 3-4km at roughly target race pace and then 2km easy to finish. It’s key to get use to the feeling of your target pace and faster than target pace so you know how it will feel on the day you attempt your PB👌🏻 I hope this helps 💪🏻
@@AHBrien85 makes sense dude - huge help on what I'd need to do to get the time down. Biggest week I've done was 30km and rarely go over 20 - but back at the pool game now too! Keep on grinding man. Those easy runs are something I need to do more, burnt out my shins!
SWIM GOOD exactly that. Lots of easy runs around your tempo and faster runs 👌🏻 good luck!
This looks incredible! Big mountain days like these are my favourite thing to do; unfortunately, Canadians can't cross the border at the moment so I can't go to my usual playgrounds in the Northeastern US. 😕 Still, this satisfies the itch a bit. Thank you for taking us along for the journey!
Plenty of great places to hike in Quebec; no need to go the US
Great video Ben the views looked insane it goes to show that we have beautiful trails in the UK too
It’s great to see the comeback you are getting stronger 👌🏻
I camped on the summit of Ben Nevis in November last year - lots of fun!
You're a brave man George!! Kudos to you!
Just got back from the Highlands a week ago and I’m very jealous that you guys are up there. I’d recommend doing the Kintail trail near Morvich. It’s not too far from Skye and the scenery is beaut. Technical trails in some parts and a river that you follow all the way to the Falls of Glomach 😍
Sounds amazing Abi!! Will look it up! Thank you for the idea :-)
Hey Ben just wanted to say a huge thank you for your videos lately I broke my ankle in pretty much the exact same spot as you recently and seeing your recovery has made me feel much more optimistic about it all big thank you!!
So uplifting, sometimes an injury makes us feel its over. But things turn around. great views
Great video Ben and Sarah. Well done. Fab achievement 👏
Inspired me to head up and do Nevis today. Had a great day. Weather was superb and could see for miles at the Summit.
Cheers ⛰☀️👍.
Hi, Top video that was a very tough trail so soon after your operation. well done to you both.
keep the great content coming... cheers..
Thank you! Very kind! Hope your running is going well!
Love it Ben & Sarah, thank you for the great content, kudos from Sydney Oz!
Loved that one just what I needed I'm getting physio working my way back from Achilles tendinitis & slowly getting it done again 😉new white cap 😎next job thanks for posting.
I miss that place, some awesome memories there, so beautiful, need the go back! X
Well done Ben, you brought back memories from 1986, when I went to see the Ben Nevis race. Thanks for bringing back the happy memories.
Awesome work guys, this one is next on my list. I did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks yesterday, you should check that out too, that’s a great day out! 40k and 1,500m ascents over 3 peaks. If you need a companion for the national 3 peaks, as I heard sharing the driving is good idea, then give me a shout. I’ll be up for that! 👍🏼
Saw it all on your stories Darren! Really good stuff, well done!!
I haven't been running frequently for very long, but I today I just completed a 5K PR in 28 minutes, and it was actually my easiest 5K to date, so win!!! :) You and Sarah have really motivated me over lockdown to start running and keep it up!
Brilliant news Lizzie, that's amazing! Massive kudos to you! Lovely to hear the channels have helped in some way, but you've done all the hard work. All the best with your running!
Looks like a great landscape to explore
The new cap looks amazing. Another beautiful video.
Aww, thank you!
Hope the west coast midges are being kind. Heading up sgor gaoith and another couple munros on Thursday.... Weathers looking good for the end of the week. Enjoy the rest of your stay 🤙
Great video Ben! Uplifting, inspiring, really put a smile on my face 🥳 currently on week 10 of your 18 weeks marathon course for my first marathon in October! The plan, tips tricks and videos on your channel is keeping me going even during the heavier weeks 😣 keep up the good work
Nice to see the summit! The run leg of the Barveheart triathlon goes up and down Ben Nevis, but we were turned around before the the top last year because of bad weather.
Amazing views - especially loved the shot on the way down! So good to see you back on the trails - I was slightly cringing watching you run over all those "ankle breaker" rocks - but awesome that you are strong enough to do it & that the ankle is holding up well. Please do the 3 peaks - that would be a great video !
"just taking it easy today" as you're running up Ben Nevis 🤣 love it.. 👍
Thanks for sharing. You guys have great contents. Love videos and infos. Keep it up. Appreciate it
Spectacular views + awesome vid! 🏔. On my list of places to visit some day 👍
Fantastic run Ben glad to see you’re back at it after the hernia op, and what a place to go!
"Taps aff" and "peely wally" made me giggle! 😂 Amazing views and inspirational yet again 👍🏻Makes me think why I haven't run Ben Nevis yet! 🧐
The map thing you did in the beginning. I hope you do that more often =)
Hey Ben, I am really interested in the Nike shoes you were wearing and I saw your review! I tried them today and they fit really well and were really comfortable, but given that I live in a really rocky area of the Dolomites, with trails similar to those you were on towards the top of Ben Nevis, I was wondering ho you found the shoes in terms of grip in the downhill and in the steepest parts of the uphill. It’s great to see you back on the trails and having fun!!!
Glad you like the shoes! They were ok on the more technical terrain.. not the best shoe, but I wore them as they were the most cushioned shoe I had for the trails and wanted something soft for my ankle. If my ankle was 100% ok, then think the Pegasus 36 would have been better.. or for more grip then the Hoka Speedgoat would have been a better choice. The Trail 2's are really comfortable for longer distances on non-technical trail, that's where they'll do well.. but think on more technical terrain like here, there will be better shoes you can go for. Hope all is well in the Dolomites!
Hey, I have just ordered the new hat. Can't wait to test in the trails here in Kraków!
Amazing, thank you Piort! Can't wait to hear what you think!
Nice, great effort, hope you are all happy and enjoy what you do. Sarah you are an amazing support for him, so patient lolz. Love your channel too. Behind every great man is strong woman!
It's wonderful up there. Have climbed it, but have always been inspired to see nutters running up these mountains in shorts. So going to give it a shot myself v.soon.
Unfortunately I haven't really been able to run due to an injury but it's always good to watch your new uploads!
Hope you’re back running again soon!
@@BenParkes Thank You
Nice video again. I will run/walk the „Steinbock Lauf“ in 2,5 weeks in Mayrhofen Austria. 30km in total with an evaluation of 1850 Meters. I am looking forward to that very much. Finally a race again.
What a gorgeous place. Love the hat too.
Amazing views and nice to see you both smiling in the wind at the top. A little side note: Mount Logan (5959 m), Yukon, should be the highest under the Queen's dominion, though not in the UK.
Welcome to beautiful Scotland Ben and Sarah hope you enjoyed it 👍👍
🤣🤣Taps aff weather
I remember going up there in sleep and snow, good thing you chose a different kind a day. Thx for the views I never got yo see, might have to go back.
When are you heading over to the Cairngorms? That's my home, loads of blissful trails to run 👍🏃
Will be there later this week! Looking forward to it!
@@BenParkes if you need any suggestions or a pointer or two for some epic trails, no problem 👍🏃♂️
Hey Ben - yes I've done the 3 peaks challenge twice - 24 hour version. Great experience.
I've got a lot of respect for anyone who does the sub 24.. really impressive!
Glad your injury improving still! I managed 6.4 miles so slooowly getting there. My physio getting a new porche soon lol. Awesome mountain!
I Highly reccomend the 3 peaks challenge.i did it quite a few years ago.ended up going up snowdonia really late at night.absolutely smashed my legs but you guys should be fine with all your ultras under your belt.i found it very knackering.trying to kip in a minibus in between tho was a treat lol.
Great to see you back so quickly after the op(s). Ben Nevis is definitely one for the list. Ta
Hi Ben,
Apologies if you have already covered this but can you tell me what type of ankle support you use ?
Thanks
Great Video Ben! Next time, you should try the Ben from The Carn Mor Dearg Arete... a much more interesting and exciting walk/run! Plus... you bag two Munro's for the price of one!
Since I have lupus, my running hasn't been as consistent as I would like but overall my running is going well! ❤👟🏃♀️
Hey Alyssa.. hope you can manage that ok and good to hear things are going well!!
Hey Alyssa - fellow runner-with-Lupus here. I don't normally comment on RUclips, but wanted to send good vibes to a kindred spirit. I've also found keeping consistent to be tough. Setting very modest goals (just one 5k per month initially!) was the key for me. Be kind to yourself ❤️
@@jonathandeamer Thank you! I have a habit of beating myself up for not running all the time but then I have to remind myself that I have lupus and I have to be gentle with myself ❤😊
Nice video 👍🏻. Reminds me of a ginger runner vid
Just got back from the Quantock hills. Wasn't able to run as much as I wanted, but managed one hilly trail run. At home I tend to run to the trails near me. Is there any shoe you'd recommend which is decent on muddy trails as well as ok on roads? I seem to remember you saying the nike shoe you wore on your run wouldn't be great on muddy trails.
Did 3 peak challenge couple of years ago, the best experience ever! Tough but exhilarating🙂
I ran up it 7 years ago when I first started running.
I was there 12 years ago...loved Scotland
IrnBru ftw
Absolutely stunning views there well done to you both for scaling it!
Great view thx guys, good looking hat too, bro. Looks faster than the other version
So beautiful!
Really got into running over the last 3 months.
Melbourne is in a second wave lockdown and can only exercise for 1 hour... How would you train for a half marathon with only an hour of running allowed?
Loving the videos! Have binged most of them the last few days
Hi Ben and Sarah,
I would like to say massive thank you to your both for your inspirationall! It helps me a lot in my journey to finish NDW100, yours super comfortable cap protected me from the sun and give your positive energy thx. Sarah RUclips about her determination in TP100 to finish user 24 HR your fight in ndw100 and finaly your super fast determination for recovery WOW ! You both Super inspiration.. one more time thank you!
Can't wait for my just ordered white cap, looks awesome.;)
Didn't know UK mountains were so steep :D thx for sharing this !!!
We did the 3 peaks as a 10 day challenge after the 3 peaks we cycled john o groats to lands end and finished of doing the Humber Bridge half marathon in East Yorkshire
what an amazing video with those views. glad the hernia is feeling good.
After walking Ben Nevis today I’ve gotta take my hat off to ya great work 👍
😂😂😂👌 your face with the lime gel,.........."it's alright"😂😂
Looks amazing! I like in Scotland and never been up - you put me to shame!
And when you're headed home, feel free to stop by EK for a socially distanced run - trying to get through one of your HM plans 😀
And lastly what was that Espresso Cappucino gel that Sarah had? Sounds lovely.
Great video, great views👍
Fantastic. Greetings from a rookie trail runner in Vietnam.
What are the ankle supports you put on at the start? They would be super handy with my glass ankles!
I just bought it from Boots on the drive up to Fort William.. just their standard one. Never felt I needed it, but put it on as a precaution given the technical trails. Worked ok!
Been training hard for my first meet in a couple weeks, just hopeing it doesn't get canceled!
Ben how do you find the Nike trail 2 on the more technical trails? I’ve found them a bit wobbly. I rolled my ankle once (didn’t injure myself). Apart from that they are the business
Stunning that Ben, I've got Glenridding to red tarn penned in as a run out as soon as the doc's give me the green light in a few weeks :D this has definitely made my mind up to go for it ASAP :D
Wishing you all the best Brian! Enjoy that run in a few weeks!
Well done guys
Seen this and went and ran up pen y fan (highest in South wales)
Great content as always Ben and Sarah. I would love to see a video on how you would race a shorter distance trail race. Say a hilly 10k.
hey. nice video. But what caps is that, thanks! ;)
Climbed Ben Nevis today brilliant experience
Did you take a waterproof or first aid kit what if you injured yourself ?
Don't know why but really appreciated the jump cut at 4:51
To be honest it's a really easy walk. We done it out the blue after a night of drinking in casual trainers and t shirts. Had a few beers at the top also watching all the people dressed like They're climbing one of the seven summits. Beautiful nonetheless like all of the west coast of Scotland.
Thank you for your honesty Kenny.
Here I am, after plantar fasciitis and now I have a meniscus issue, and Ben is out running before me after breaking his ankle.... I WILL PASS YOU ONE DAY BEN! ONE DAY!
Ah, sorry to hear that Garrett.. but you'll be back stronger than ever really soon I'm sure!!
What did you use to carry your poles?
He had a naked running belt on with them on the back of his waist.
Odd question, but does anyone else have issue with new shoes, and running 5+ miles. So for me, I have to try and get like 20 miles through my shoes before I do 6 or more mile runs. Otherwise when I am done running, my feet are on fire. I end up with blisters etc. thoughts?
Wait..... I know her.... Subbed last week 😍😍😍
Teletext subtitles are the best 👍
Welcome to Scotland:) home country
Great to be here!
Me too!
New hat, WANT!
Woop
I'm so disappointed that you didn't have an iron bru!
Will have one after the next run.. promise!!
How about the 'Nevis' hat?
This didn't help my bad vertigo LOL
You should go for the fkt on Ben Nevis. Distance and elevation aren't that much so that could be interesting
Something to consider when I'm back running at full strength! Thanks for the idea! :-)
Fkt on Ben Nevis must be very hard; an annual race is organized on Ben Nevis
@@vincentnb Oh i see. But i'm convinced a fit Ben Parkes can get it done. The battle of the Bens ! Ben Parkes vs Ben Nevis !
run up in a 40 minutes on ben nevist a highest moutain in england
Haty Mchatface as the new merch name?
Taps aff!
No disrespect to you I think you're wonderful but as a scot I wish these beautiful places weren't so congested now. No social distancing either. Hate it. But it's a beautiful place. Kinda getting ruined though. Especially with all the rubbish and selfish people parking terribly and blocking emergency services etc. Please be considerate everyone. It's not all about 'you'.
Tell me about it, I used to work on the Ben path and you wouldn't believe the amount of crap we'd take off the hill each day.
Name that hat Ben Nevis
do you want to run up with me on ben nevist
On runs like this: a bit more views of the route/scenery, and a bit less of yourself, please?
