Saddam, shortly before the invasion, also was interested in breaking up the petrodollar system and wanting to trade oil for Euros.
Breaking up the petrodollar exclusivity is a big no-no in the US's eyes because the petrodollar system allows the US to print cash for free that other countries need for oil, and exchange it against hard valuable goods, without ever needing to take dollars back except in treasury bonds.

War with Iran would be detrimental on a regional and global scale. The Strait of Hormuz would be saturated with naval mines inhibiting global oil shipments. Civilians around the world would have to worry about sleeper cells taking actions against the populace and infrastructure. To replenish Iron Dome and Arrow-3 more foreign aid from the likes of the US and UK would need be sent to Israel further drawing ire from people unhappy about their tax money funding Israel and the industrial military complex. No more or reduced aid to Ukraine and Taiwan, uh-oh. China waiting in the cut with the "Birdman hand rub." Watch the price of semi-conductors used in cars, computers, communications relays skyrocket.
