It's one thing seeing some guy on the internet restore a car in one or two videos with it being presented to you like an audience... but wade and james feels like you're in along for the ride. not like a presenter to an audience. just feels like you tagging along a friend who's about to do some real wacky (or most of the time useful) stuff to their car. This channel really scratches my itch for car stuff. I am into cars I just don't have the money or skills to do anything with that myself, and most car content I've seen on RUclips is very samey or boring to me. This channel is a real refreshing take on car content that's honestly super fun and entertaining, one of the handful of channels I genuinely really look forward to watching weekly.
This channel have the "tinkering" vibe to it Many other car channel go into too much technical, too much in-depth for car that most of us probably never gonna drive
As a car guy, i can confidently say that car guys are the worst. Some are good, but holy shit there are soooo many toxic dudebros in the scene who have this idea that "unless you have rebuilt your engine at 3am in the bush with 3 rocks you're not a real car guy"
What I'm basically saying is. Cars are fun, working on them can be fun. But do your own thing, if you want to do 100% of the work yourself, do it, if you cant be arsed send it out to someone else. Do your own thing and enjoy.
I'd recommend Aging Wheels for another car channel with similar vibes to Garbage Time. He focuses on similarly crappy/average cars, and while he does the work himself the videos are edited quite well so they're pretty consumable and not too technical.
You might be surprised at how effective the rubber mat might be in the back and keeping groceries from sliding all over. I've got a particularly squishy one in my Ranger and almost never have issues of groceries sliding around unless I had to make an especially sharp turn or break slam.
I love that Ford's response to GM removing Android Auto/CarPlay was to say that removing them isn't good for consumers and thay lost the battle in informant years ago 😂.. Seriously though after having Android Auto for a couple years now, I don't think I could ever buy a car without it... It's just so much better than any car infotainment system
I have it in my ford work truck and I hate it. I despise how there's different versions depending on if you have you phone plugged in or not. I hate that it changes control features on my phone. It's genuinely awful and im suprised anyone likes it.
Fun fact: those rain guards were invented by the Japanese and probably for smoking inside your car. For once of course the rain doesn't come in when you have the window ajar, but also above about 60mph they generate a considerable draft which sucks the smoke right out of the cabin. Really useful things that should come with cars as standard.

Then you have stuff that combines hvac controls with the your infotainment bc reasons. Edit: a quick Google and that kit is $1200 AUD. You get a free installation which is nice. The really nice Kenwood head units (Excelon) retail for that much so it's not that far off.

What’s really common around here in canada, is to get a 2x6 wood board and cut it so it slots into the grooves towards the back of the truck bed so you have a small section for stuff that’d slide all over the place, no tools required to remove or install it, and just pull it out and set it flat in the bed if you need more space
I have a VF ute too! Mine’s a Series 2 SS though. It has the awful MyLink system that I absolutely despise! And the walkinshaw kit won’t work on my ute because Holden are “smart” and disabled the AUX on the Series 2 (the biggest companies make the worst crap), so I need to get it reprogrammed to before I get CarPlay in it (yaaaaaaay, an extra $250 to spend ON TOP of the $1000 I need to spend on the carplay kit software). I also have a cheap tent top on my ute, I don’t have the funds to get a proper hardtop like Wade’s yet. They’re like $2200
I don’t carry a lot of large objects, or any really. Just smaller flatter stuff. I’m not moving fridges and washung machines, mostly just toolboxes and tires. For reasons.

Those rubber mats are really bad by the way, they will slip around and move all the time, they also stop you from sliding heavy things up further back in the tray (a thing you will have to do more often now you have a hard cover and cant get up there yourself) also very exited to hear the donkey van is making its return
I generally prefer using my phone for nav without android atuto/carplay. It can be positioned such that I can keep my eye on the road and still have it in my peripheral vision, and I'd rather navigation apps be vertical anyhow. Overall the best infotainment systems I've ever used were android tablets that connect to a car followed by the simplest radio with an aux and CD reader systems. They just work, and the android tablet will often support carplay/android auto or just be able to run the apps natively.
Meh I want my car to feel as stock as possible (Or clean if you will) and I hate wires going around to different shit so I just bought a good aftermarket android head unit with built in wireless carplay/android auto that was model specific to my car. Looks so much cleaner that way and I see exactly what I need without getting distracted.
I really do not understand this new trend of putting 'weather shield rain guard' on the windows of cars. Here in my country (Slovenia), these were on every old car: Yugos & Zastavas, Škodas, Fiats ... It made sense in the old days, in the cars without AC and also a lot of people smoked back in the day. But today nobody puts this stuff on the cars anymore. To be fair back in the day all of those guards were light brown color and they really looked ugly.
