Mate, awesome job. You've given me some handy hints for my 1/48 HMS Bounty I've just purchased, keep them coming. Without yourself and others I would really struggle, again thanks heaps and great work.
Beautiful Build!. I'd be tempted to install some hidden servo's under the lower deck to operate the gun and gun hatch rigging so that the gun doors open and close and the cannons on the gun deck move in and out.
A fair critique is in order. A nice build but the hull planking standard is wrong (at the stem most notably) for the period. Obviously, no cheater planks used which is a glaring omission for a period ship model at this scale. The reason I know is because I failed to do this myself on a build. . . Lol. Nice work otherwise though.
Your cannon rigging is outstanding! Did you use white glue for everything? That would have added quite a bit of time to your build. On your decking, did you just pencil mark the nails and plank ends or did you scratch and use a pin? Great detail!! When is the next one? Been almost 5 years.
Hi Thank you, yes I used a lot of white glue to build it, a lot of nails and white glue for the hull planking, I cheated for the decking and used pencil for the nails and plank ends and on the edges, we lost our three grandchildren and Daughter in a house fire in Bridlington nearly 10 years ago, on the 12th November and I have been very depressed over the years, but I have just ordered a small sanding machine for the yard arms etc, and I am going to pull myself together and try and Finnish her, I will start and put photos on as I do things.
Hi thanks for the complement, no sorry to say I haven't yet but I am going to and i will post updates, what model are you getting, Iv'e still got HMS Victory to start When I've done this one lol, the trouble is there are little to no proper plans to follow so quite a lot is guess work etc. there are a lot more of my pictures here, ruclips.net/user/redirect?q=https%3A%2F%2Fphotos.app.goo.gl%2FEefL7nurMuwQkZdI3&event=comments&redir_token=Y-yuvH8lBAmsooAohvfUXf0XiGR8MTUyODI3ODM2M0AxNTI4MTkxOTYz
I ordered a full kit from DeAgostini Model Space, made by Artesania Latina I believe. I am not sure when the kit will be ready. I am taking a break from building a plank-on-frame HMS EURYALUS from the Seawatch books. I have just this minute ordered a Victory Models HMS Pegasus from Model Dockyard which should be small enough to build at my desk at home. I also happen to have the full set of books on the Swan class by David Antsherl.
@@hudsonrobert49 Hello Robert - Been very much enjoying your build. I started my Pandemic HMS Surprise in Feb 2020 and am getting to the rigging now. You have (unknowingly) been a great help and are a really good modeller. Thanks for the help and hope to finish this year. Pete
thank you for all the info. that you provide I am a novice on this wooden ship building but I? will learn right now Iam building the rattlesnake by shipways models I will make it right .
Rob, thank you for sharing your build. The instructions are very difficult to follow and there are no clear diagrams of detailed areas, as you know. I am disappointed that an expensive model is so poorly supported by its manufacturer.
Yes you are right, it's more like building a scratch built model with all the guess work, and you are very welcome, I will try and finish off the yardarms as soon as possible.
Your time and attention to detail is evident. Looking forward to the completed kit.
Just Beautful! Iconic ship! Look foward I will build mine.🙏🏽

"Aubrey.....would you pass the salt?"
wonderfull Rob I build airplanes but have recently read Paddy O`brians books (on number 16 or 17 atm) so this is a great inspiration for me
Love his books!

Denis V , and any of these
Very very nice. Truly a masterpiece Rob. I’ve built quite few ships in the past, but they don’t compare to yours.
thank you very much, your too kind i will put updates on i am looking for all my pic's as I type lol.
your vids are great but if I can suggest for corking you should try to glue a tin black paper between planks it will look more realistic
Beau travail "Bob" Félicitations ...
Merci...
Great work Robert! Is there a second part of the process? One that involves posts, spars and rigging?
