edit: 10:20 I've heard that that only lasts for the first 10 matches or so to help new players learn to read the ball and understand how to play.
yeah。I am a chinese player and a c2 in rl.In chinese rl this function is only available before 20 levels.And actually it is almost useless because it is not accurate😂
And to the point at 6:30 , I believe it has to do with the “rng” narrative of the mode. Just adds to the randomness

5:51, fun fact, i actually liked the old starbase arc. it was my fav map. Cant say the same for the other non standard maps though

I was actually quite fond of the old tokyo too, but definitely the minority on that one 🥲
I didn't like it mainly because wall to air dribble plays were harder to do and the map was too big imo
The biggest one for me is the removal of Famrstead Upside Down. While all the nonstandard maps can still be found in Freeplay and in Private Matches, Farmstead upside down was completely removed from the game files. Even if you have replays that were played on that map, the replay will be played on regular farmstead instead.
Also, for the ball trace in your 7th point: it's to make the game easier for beginners. After some matches, or maybe depending on your MMR, the ball trace will dissapear from casual games, and it will never appear in ranked games.
Probably removed due to licencing with who owns the rights to Stranger Things right?
Wow I forgot that was a map actually, good shout. Also didn't realize they removed it so thoroughly, interesting that they negotiated some sort of legacy rights deal for the various DLC cars pre-Epic acquisition while they worked on integrating them fully, but couldn't hold on to Stranger Things.

Actually the Chinese version is only there temporarily as in a few matches when you start out (and I think it’s in the lowest ranks too?)
Fun fact: the tracker seen in Chinas version of the game only stays untill XP lvl. 10.

I wish they had different hitboxes too, so many pointless cars today. It would add depth to the game
They changed it because EVERYONE just played the octane, it was arguably better than* any other hitboxes. Now even if it's still the same hitboxes, we at least see some variety. I'm all for the change they did. Also, If you always played with the same car, every new car that came out would mess up your timings and muscle memory, so why even buy and switch to the new one?

The Ball prediction line could be a good thing for lows rank players (bronze and silver) but is not useful for rank above.
It’s useful for any rank. Imagine seeing where the ball is going to be on any doubly tap, ceiling/corner read, or even a hard shot at your goal.

Another (small) thing removed that I haven't ever seen anyone mention is the ...nose spin self-right cancel? I don't know what to call it, but if you got on your nose and held up on the stick and pressed jump to flip your car, your car would not self-right, but it would spin in place super quick. You could spam the jump button and spin all around super fast and you would move around the field in random directions while doing it also. It was my go-to celebration and I had lots of people ask how I did it, then one day it just stopped working. Now if you are on your nose it will tell you to press your jump button to flip your car... but it doesn't do anything. You can use air roll to spin around but it's not as fast and chaotic as the old self-right cancel. Saddest day in video game history :(

I feel like with the hitboxes they could've made a setting for it. I feel like it would be a lot more beneficial to have the standardized hitboxes as a setting, that way newer players or players who like consistency between their hitbox types can use the standardized hitbox types while everyone else can have the car specific hitboxes. Realistically, I doubt it would provide any competitive advantage. Especially now since it requires more echanical skill to make it in the higher ranks, it would bring a lot more variety of cars to lobbies instead the usual Octane, Fennec, Dominus, etc.
Other things removed from Rocket League not mentioned in video. Rocket Labs. You could play casual games on some wacky maps that are still in the game but you cannot play on them in almost all modes. Casual Extra Modes. There was no ranked version, just Casual Extra Modes. Anything else?

You know that all of today's standard maps are actually based off Urban Central from SARPBC because it was the most unanimously liked map in the game. Lots more fun facts on the Durhty History of RL. Good vid 👍

The Chinese tracker is only for their first 25 games. It's a learning tool to adapt to rocket leagues physics

The ranks was silver, gold, blue, champion tier in 2016. And every tier had three different ranks.

in the chinese RL version, the ball tracer disappears when u reach lv 20 or 30 i forgot.
idk why you would believe that changing all hitboxes to octane is dumb, you don't buy cars for a competitive advantage

The ball predictor is only there until you reach level 10, so that by then you some basic knowledge on how to read the ball
That rank reset really didn't make any sense until this video. It's a good point to have soft reset, but it's not perfect. There should be atleast bigger drop and first 10 matches should have bigger effect where you end up. Currently if you have played some game mode first you started playing and got ranked then and haven't played it since, you still end up around same level even if you play and win higher level players.

hold up im confused, there are no flipper freestylers and they no flip but the no flip was removed during 2017?? can someone explain?
1- unique hitboxes could arguably become a P2W issue. Imagine a new DLC car has a "better" hitbox, these cars cost $20-$30 dollars, and you wouldn't really know if a new hitbox is the right one for you unless you bought said car. There were some drawbacks to the standardization of hitboxes, but overall it was a good decision to make the game more esports and f2p friendly.
2- a hard reset every season could indeed be an issue, but honestly MMR inflation and just the lifespan of this game right now make it so soft resets fuck a lot of people below GC2+. Everyone above GC2 is sent back to 1500ish if I'm not mistaken, but players below that GC2+ threshold only lose a tiny portion of their MMR (as you mentioned). This causes players to remain at their rank or very near their rank for seasons and seasons, even without playing enough to truly remain at that skill level. You can easily observe this by looking at the sheer number of players with S11-14 GC titles who are in low GC1, barely hanging onto the rank, who are clearly not at the skill level of current day GC1. I believe a hard reset once a year would be a good way to both deal with MMR inflation/hardstuck players and also not force the higher levels to grind out too much every season just to get back to that 1600+ range
To be fair, back when unique hitboxes were a thing cars only cost like $1.50-$2.00 typically. It's still an issue because any additional barrier to entry is limiting, but before Epic hit us with that F2Plation it wouldn't have been _quite_ such a big deal.
Agreed on the hard/soft reset dilemma. I think throwing in a hard reset every couple of seasons would help reshuffle players more appropriately. Given how little effort or care Psyonix puts in to actually developing the game these days, rather than endlessly revising features that work just fine, I'm not holding my breath that this is a change they'll be implementing any time soon however.
idk about the fakt psyonisx removed the mechanic just becouse it where to OP. and also the point it is unfair becouse its an disadvatage for players dont know it, well they will know the mechanic soon or later so this is not an arument.
imagin nadeo removes the noseboost from TM becouse its so OP. with this mechanic you can gain 500 speed in miliseconds. it is a high lvl mechanic only the best of the best can pull off but this does not mean it has to be removed, and nadeo never will remove it
"Need for speed" flip
This video makes me miss old rocket league so much. Getting crates, trading and trading- up items, chance of getting a crazy map to play on. Etc. I also remember when dropshot first released I would play it for 2 hours a day and had so much fun, the game is just so sweaty now and even casual is full of try hard trash talkers. Psyonix RL was way better than Epic RL in my opinion 😕

They took out the no flip although pros are still doing their best to replicate it to this day to gain speed. Should of just left it in.

Even if it was pay to win (which I still doubt a pro using a bad car would lose to a gold with a good car in a 1v1) I'd still rather have the game be paid to win if ppl were actually creative with their cars, nowadays it's just filled with boring octanes, dominous, and fennecs, so boring. I would choose a car based of how cool it is, not boring one sided color boring boost, boring wheels and boring trails just bc you can see 0.002% more of the screen.
