    Thank you so much for this video! ❤❤ Simplification is the thing I struggle the most. Often I am drawn to a photo but complexity of it stops me before I even start painting.

    Hi Louise! Thank you for the video! Excellent! 😊 Very inspirering to see your way of preparing for a painting. I also need to draw, before I start to paint. I also test the colours I'll be using both for mixing and amount of water I have to add.

    This was so so helpful Louise! When I do my line drawings on Procreate, I tend to try and get every detail. It makes so much sense to simplify the drawing. It will make it easier to just enjoy the painting process. Thank you so much! 😊 ❤

    Thank you, thank you THANK YOU Louise.... I have been in an artists block for almost 2 years now, I started painting during lock down and got reasonable at it. After doing my best picture which ended up on our wall... that was it, Its like the life went out of me haven't done a picture since, I stumbled on to one of your RUclips videos and it is like you have re-ignited my passion to paint, though I feel like I am starting from scratch again, I am just following one of your skillshare lessons. But anyway, didn't want to bore you with a long message, so just a big thank you and oodles of appreciation for getting me started again.
    Kindest regards
    Mark from the UK

    Saludos cordiales y gracias!

    I love your work and how you do your video's. Your outtakes at the end make me LOLOL. I don't know if I am advanced enough to do your tutorials but I'm going to join Patreon in January and see! You won me over with the daschund painting from 2 years ago...I learned so much from that one. Thanks for being genuine and encouraging, it is a great approach.

    I'm fascinated to see how many other artists trace subjects for line work. I typically try to avoid doing that because I worry it would make me an imposter of an artist; a fraud....but I'm seeing more that people find this to be a valid practice (as long as you're not straight up copying the reference entirely)

    Another amazing video from THE best tutor … quick question- you’re using Lightroom for the drawings? I use it (basically !) for photo editing - but how do you use it for ‘sketching’ over a photo?
    Thank you for making things so much simpler and less intimidating ❤ (and for all your hard work)

  • @theaveragejojo9711
    @theaveragejojo9711 10 месяцев назад

    Gosh, very helpful! Were you using a computer program to make your line-choosing clearer for your viewers or do you usually use it for your initial drawings? I’ve never thought to do a digital outline drawing first and then transferring it to paper, but it’s actually brilliant, especially for hyper realism.

    Confused about your line drawings for watercolor. You are transferring your Photoshop outline of the reference photo to your watercolor paper? If so, then seems that that's not an original freehand drawing. I am a beginner with watercolor with some experience with drawing.

      Hi, I mentioned at the start of the video that you’ll see me using photoshop to speed things up - so you don’t have to sit and watch me physically draw. I don’t use photoshop when I make my line drawings. Thanks.
