    Nice, I did the same thing with the dowel on a drill press once when I fabbed a faceplate for a head unit for my old LandCruiser. Much more interesting than a large plain aluminum sheet in the middle of the dash. Very cool visual upgrades on this guitar.

    • @breilly66
      @breilly66  9 месяцев назад

      Yesss.... exactly! I was looking at an old picture of a dash I did on a 62 buick special that had a turned section and thought... hmm.
      Cheers Tj!

    Fender’s Road Worn series has nothing on you, B! Honestly, your attention to detail and world-building behind every scratch and dent puts you leagues beyond many a custom shop.
    Whoever ends up with that is going to be one lucky SOB.
    Looking for some direction here: if you had a strat with nitro finish issues because someone in its history put stickers on it, how would you approach smoothing out the finish? I’m leaning toward a wet sand on just those spots. I’ve also considered just leaving them as they are but those spots are ugly as sin.

    • @breilly66
      @breilly66  10 месяцев назад +1

      R... always too kind! And yes, definitely a wetsanding. The glue in sone decals reacts with finishes and sometimes creates an elevated step. Bit of 1500 or 2k should do the trick. :)

    love this channel and all your detailed content. super cool idea to do a guitar giveaway! Would love to have one of your guitars hanging on my wall. I've only been seriously playing and learning for 2-3 years now and have kept my trusty steed (fender strat) as my main guitar and always wanted it done in nitro (it was a wedding gift and i want it to age with me). winning this one would mean alot and would always hold on it! im the kind of person that creates a sentimental connection to the things i have - if it is of nice quality and this would stay with me forever.

    Do you use anything as a grainfiller?

    • @breilly66

      Nope. Typically I use grain filler on mahogany but otherwise, the base coat tends to level out with a light wetsand.
