Yes he is a Sayyid. Al-Yaqoubi is a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم tracing his lineage through Mawlay Idris al-Anwar, (founder of the city of Fès), who was a descendant of Hasan ibn Ali رضی اللہ عنہ
So he means a scholar of fiqh is not a man of Allah. When did the great sahabas, say eg Abu Bakar Siddique (RA) or Umar (RA) or any of the Great ones went into seclusion to become a Man of Allah, so he means they were not men of Allah. This is not what the Quran and Hadith teaches to go into seclusion to become man of Allah. If a man has knowledge ie of Quran and Hadith he has to talk and speak and pass that knowledge, with reference. Not go into seclusion. That’s not Islamic.
It is, its called Khalwa and Zuhd, the Sahaba practised Zuhd and Khalwa, (withdrawal from the world), Solitude, silence and Reflection are the tools of Sanctification ".
