I saw Pirates Of The Mississippi as one of two openers for The Judds on their Farewell Tour, the other opener was this guy who never went anywhere, I think his name was ummmm....oh yeah, Garth Brooks. I wonder what ever became of that guy.
A buddy of mine is a hunting guide here in Texas. He was talking with another guide at a hunting and fishing event about ducks hunting on the east coast. The guy gave him a number and he went on a hunting trip in Chesapeake Bay with this big, tall, long haired man with ear rings and tattoos. He thought he was a little different for a hunting guide but, he was country as the day is long. The thing that most impressed him other than limiting out was this guide's retriever(dog). My friend said that dog was missing one eye but, was an excellent swimmer and one of the best he'd ever seen at locating the birds in tall cattails along the bank. Later that season he went to visit his friend on a goose hunting trip in Canada. His buddy asked him what he thought about the big man's dog and if the guide had told him the story. Scott had no idea what he was talking about so, he said no but, that he was a hell of bird dog that Jake. Then the man proceeded to tell him that the guide he had hunted with was from the Kentucky Headhunters and that dog was Jake, which Scott was familiar with the song. It's a small and interesting world sometimes. Love your channel!!!
Hey Tasha, I think that you should have watched the original music video for this reaction. It tells the story of two long time friends who were inseparable and the dog who was with them all the time!! One of the guys left his hometown and made it big. Then he got wind of hearing about his friend passing away, and as he came to the funeral to pay his respects, he then called out Jake's name and he came to him almost immediately!! That video tells a better story than the song ever could!!
When I was in high school I had a poster that said, "now I lay me down to rest a pile of books upon my chest. If I die before I wake that's one less test I'll have to take"
I was a teen when this song came out, as an adult who lost my best furry friend I understand this song so much more. A favorite song of my teen years, they were ahead of their time
Growing up in Oklahoma we had a German Shepard named Jake this song reminds me of him best guard dog on the ranch he scared the hell out of the sheriff wouldn’t let him out of the car if he didn’t know you he would put himself between his family and the stranger unfortunately a neighbor shot him and another found him in a field with the other dog we gave them a proper burial we put a marker to where him and the other is buried
I’ve always loved this song. And just this morning I took my dog to the creek while the fog was still on the water and we jumped in. Love my dog.I really love your reactions. Tasha can yo please react to the song Sissy’s song by Alan Jackson. Thanks for the reactions

Sad songs are the reason I have to take a break from country on occasion...but I always come back bc it's like an old friend that I will always love!
Love this song. So beautiful. The video is even more heartfelt.
I had forgotten about this song lol I remember this song playing everywhere so much when it came out
I love the way you listen to the lyrics and react to them. Lyrics are what country music is about.
His dog was there with him and loved him no matter where he was or what he was doing and without judgement.

"I'll tell the truth and make it rhyme." That's the secret to good country music.
My take is that 90s country is the best genre of music anywhere...;)
The old saying the more people I meet the more I love my dog.
This is a blast from my past. I haven't thought of this song in years. Thank you for reacting to it.
