Wrestling With Wregret- I remember watching 'WWF Royal Rumble 2001' with a friends of mine & laughing at what you pointed out around 9:24-9:28. The main reason being is because Chris Jericho is tapping out to 'The Crippler Cross-Face', the crowd starts cheering for a brief period of time & Jerry "The King" Lawler is like "The match is over, J.R.!..."/"We have a new WWF Intercontinental champion."/"Chris Jericho's tapping out to Chris Benoit!..."/etc. on color commentary & Jim Ross is like "We do not have a new WWF Intercontinental champion, this match is not over & the only way to win is to climb the ladder & retrieve the WWF Intercontinental title.". Shortly after Jim Ross said that, my friend & I both pointed at the TV & said "THANK YOU!..." because we even knew that you can only win the match that way & we were only 12 at the time this event took place. Also, how come Jerry "The King" Lawler was saying stuff like that on color commentary, anyways?...
I'm glad to see this show has been revisited (not re-uploaded) since the '01 Rumble Match is probably my all-time favorite. As always, a big thank you to Brian and those working behind the scenes at Wregret HQ for all of your hard work to bring us all the best content!

Also, this show was the final PPV appearance of Tiger Ali Singh. He made one final TV appearance on RAW the next night and that was the end of his run. It's quite interesting the guy lasted nearly 5 years despite sporadic appearances and general negative reaction.
I get the feeling the WWF thought he could be a new Canadian superstar, since Tiger Jeet Singh was a Canadian mainstay from the 1960s and 1970s. Problem was that Ali did not have his dad’s gimmick, charisma, or enough proficiency for picking up the business anywhere near the speed of his fellow multi-generational stars.
@@princesstamika Singh was successful where he worked because he was a madman brawler type who could have bloody affairs that made the babyface look tough and didn’t happen 24/7 in a territory.

13:10 Brian's right about Ivory and her quality selling! Lest we forget, she was the top Wrestler in G.L.O.W during the 80's. And, as we know, they were all about the technical wrestling, at the house David McClaine built ;) But, "If I could be Lance Storm for a minute." ;) Ivory, or (Tina) was by far the best wrestler, G.L.O.W. or any of the other women's feds of the 80's had! Also, Chyna sold well in this too. I remember watching this live at the local bar and remember feeling bad for Chyna, although on a separate note, she did bury the Women's title almost as much as Medussa's garbage can did, J.K. :) Cheers from Canada and Thanks to Brian for redoing this review! You are the best!
The Ladder Match Between Benoit and Jericho is a must watch but it's sorta awkward to recommend due to the Benoit situation but damn that's one of the best Ladder matches.
This is a time where you can appreciate Benoit... but it's a sliding scale from soon after since he has a broken neck soon after the rumble. and you can say it's just getting worse from that?
I wouldn't mind seeing these as a revisit, if for nothing else, it would be interesting to hear how your views with certain matches or aspects have changed from the original. This was awesome.
Wrestling With Wregret- Refresh my memory on what you were talking about on 13:24-13:28, please. What concussion story-line were you talking about from 'WWF Royal Rumble 2001', again?... I haven't watch this Pay-Per-View in so long, I'm a little fuzzy on the details & literally don't remember it.
Thanks for all your hard work trying to fix the old vid, and re-recording for this re-review! This is one of my favourite rumbles which, let's face it; Kane won. I know, I know, Stone Cold took him out, but let's be real here; Kane won it harder than anyone's ever won it. --- It's because he was sick at the time, I'm not sure if you've heard of the ailment, it's called... ... *FINAL BOSS SYNDROME*
4:25 The effects of repeated concussions was the storyline spark in Jerry Maguire (9th highest grossing film of 1996) and was a hot topic of conversation in both American Football and Hockey by the mid 90s so to say it wasn't part of the public awareness is not true. Rather this was a time when 'Machismo" was deemed more important than health and science.
You should do a top 8 Celebrity Hall of famers, or celebs who had a spot in the ring, Cindy Laupa, Mr T, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Shaq, Johnny Knoxville, Steve o, Chris Pontious, Drew. Maybe a look back when WCW went to Australia for tapings of Thunder and Nitro.
"It's ten years of regret; we're doing things a little differently this time." Sounds like the transition between my first and second marriages. Hope it goes better for you than it did for me, Zane. 😆
Even in his very 1st Rumble Match in '99 he eliminated I think, 4 or 5 guys, and in less than a minute, before eliminating himself. This was truly legendary though, and alot say he should have been the winner instead of Austin, but we'd never have gotten the 'Mania X-7 classic between Rock and Austin.
That Jericho/Benoit ladder match is my favourite match of all time. I just love what how they used the ladder in so many interesting and brutal ways. Just the Jericho/Benoit feud is one of my favourite rivalries. Those guys just clicked together perfectly in the ring and always produced amazing matches.
I think I feel your opinion for the China issue, is that the WWE will do something due to a real moment, but then play off that emotion later on by trying to replicate it. It's kind of like how people realize that the "X" sign means something's wrong from the refs, so then the WWE use that to try to play off emotion. Its a tough spot.
As a long time fan, I really appreciate the overall effort of trying to get this original back up and then just doing what was best and re-uploading the entire thing with fresh commentary. Appreciate the work Zane

Probably one of my favourite royal rumbles being 14 years old at the time and a massive wrestling fan at the time. Great memories! I was rooting for Kane
One of my favorite things about watching this show on the old (read: good) version of WWE Network years ago was how spotty they were with the censoring of the WWF initials, as if they somehow mixed the original and Anthology DVD audio together.
