I actually prefer the live version, in part because you can hear just how great Mayu's fry screams are with minimal processing.
And on a completely different emotional note, if the live version of "Life" doesn't bet you choked up, then you have my sympathy.

This band can rip your face off or bring a tear to your eye. World Domination begins 2022. If you want live, go Oiran live at Naon Yaon. .... and Mayu can pull it off live. Everything they do is great. Check them out. Their covers are great too. I would recommend Shimi. Throw yourselves down the Japanese rock/metal rabbit hole. You won't wanna come out.
As you have found out Japanese female metal/rock bands are saving that genre of music. All of them are as good live such as Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Mary's Blood, to name a few. “Can she do it live?’ Oh fuck yes Mayu can, and the way they layer the backing track on stage works really well because you can see what she’s doing and hear her own harmonies but they are done differently from the recordings. You can get a glimpse from either this song or Oiran recorded live at Naon Yaon festival. The other members can all sing too, and often do. Saki and Hazuki are both well established guitarists in the genre and this showcases them adequately- they both do more intricate and more soulful stuff. Tamu the drummer is a well respected musician in Japan too and Haraguchi-san on bass recently proved in their first live show in front of a live audience that she’s their equal. Nemophila are awesome, everything they do is gold one way or another.
Now, if you thought this was a surprise then check out Hanabie. Their calling card is “We Love Sweets” and I guarantee you’ll enjoy it.

Their only tour date in the US so far, is at the Aftershock Festival (October 7th) So maybe they will add more dates after. Jinjer is playing the same day (If they get out of Ukraine). Many groups will be there like Slipknot. Also Band Maid will be there too. I remember you guys use to react to them, before you got all up in the K Pop Factory Train lol.

If I am not mistaken, someone asked for more information about this band? It's been a while this story been told but, here goes...
NEMOPHILA is a Tokyo-based Japanese all-female metal band formed in August 2019 as one-off live show band called Mayu Session, and as the name implies, its assembled by mayu (ex-LIPSTICK vocalist as Sindy) assisted by her high school friend, Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist). They managed to get hold of Murata Tamu (ex-SORAMIMI drummer) who is a very famous well respected solo drummer in Japan with massive reputation as one of the best and versatile prolific new age drummer. They still need a guitarist so mayu contacted SAKI (ex-Destrose guitarist) through mutual friend and asked if she is interested for a session or knew someone who might because SAKI is the founder and organizer for World Guitar Girls Collection (WGGC), a project that bring forward talented Japanese female rock/metal guitarists. SAKI, who is very busy being in 2 different bands (Mary's Blood and AMAHIRU) wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to play alongside Tamu (prominent drummer in SAKI's WGGC project) answered YES! to both questions. She showed up with her friend Hazuki, a highly-skilled technical guitarist from heavy metal band DISQUALIA. She worked as a sessionist for Rami and Li-sa-X since DISQUALIA activities were put on hold in 2017. The arrivals of two technical guitarists concluded Mayu Session's final line-ups of superb veteran quintet.
Mayu Session was confirmed to perform live at Shinjuku Wild Side, Tokyo for 'Summer Game' event in August 2019. The news that metal guitar goddess SAKI will be performing alongside drums goddess Tamu, together in one band, travelled fast and eventually became the 'talks of the town'. About 2 weeks before their confirmed live show, Mayu Session was booked for their second live show on 5th September 2019 at the same venue for 'Dig up! Your Wonderland!' event. They hadn't even performed their one-off live show yet but already booked for a second show, which seemed to broke the original one-off deal. During those times, little did they knew that there will be endless show for all of them together as a band.
Every member have years of experience being in a band but never played together before. Some members didn't even know each other with different personalities and musical preference. However, during their first show, they hit off immediately on stage when all their wisdom and years of experience kicks-in, triggered them to play their integral parts naturally in completing the whole performance. Every one of them are capable to hold their own and being on equal footing with each other and there were no second guessing so they just enjoying the moment having fun performing, smiling and laughing together, owning the stage while their audience went crazy with lots of excitement. Perhaps too much fun for the band members that they don't want it to end but the show ended and everyone is overjoyed.
Despite their differences in many aspect, Mayu felt good seeing the band members really enjoyed each others' company both on and off the stage; and realized that this is what she had always imagined to have in a band. As all the band members felt the same, Mayu Session was re-instated as one-off live show deal, disbanded after their first show; and NEMOPHILA was summoned for the first time at Shinjuku Wild Side, Tokyo on 5th September with the most important mission, to cover for Mayu Session's slot and recreate the same atmosphere as before. Eventually, they proved that they were indeed better than Mayu Session and later announced that NEMOPHILA landed their first appearance for their own slot in METAL WEEKEND 2019 event at Zepp Diver City, Tokyo.
NEMOPHILA performed twice during METAL WEEKEND 2019 with an opening act for two heavy metal legends, LOUDNESS and HAMMERFALL on two different days. On both occasions, the organizer introduced NEMOPHILA as "Super Girls Metal Band" and no question asked on that 'title' since the band members are no strangers to Japanese rock/metal scene with several decades of experience between them; and individually regarded as a reputable seasoned musician.
In 2020, NEMOPHILA announced their Japan tour schedule but eventually cancelled due to the pandemic. In February, just before lockdown took place, they managed to perform at Shibuya REX - their first one-man show. It was a sold-out venue where all tickets were gone hours after is was announced. That time, Tamu was on maternity leave. Tamu had always been called-up to fill in for drummers' absence but in her absence, NEMOPHILA called-in Miki 'mittan' Tsunoda, a drummer from the legendary all female band SHOW-YA (one of the best-selling Japanese metal bands in history) who was more than happy to make an appearance that day covering for Tamu.
In 2021, NEMOPHILA took part in NAONのYAON (female outdoor stage - music festival celebrating female artist) live streaming show. SAKI was on double duty since Mary's Blood also performing there. Tamu was also called-up to fill in for another band Gacharic Spin since their drummer Yuri was on maternity leave.
In December 2021, NEMOPHILA released their full-length debut album REVIVE and ranked #8 on weekly Oricon new album chart, #7 on weekly Billboard Japan (download) chart. Their relentless hard works to establish their presence in local as well as international music scene eventually paid off when they were awarded as the 'Artist of The Year 2021' by Tower Records Japan.
In January 2022, NEMOPHILA appeared in one-man show for the first time featuring all original members including the drums goddess, Tamu. In that show, they performed a song LIFE as finale, which was a very special song they performed for Tamu during one of their live streaming event, celebrating Tamu's return to the line ups after maternity leave. This time around, it is very emotional for mayu seeing all the band members around her managed to pull off this one-man show with her and she cried hard. Before their final bow, Tamu is the first to approached mayu and gave her a hug and gentle mother's gesture like saying she did a great job.
Going forward, they will be performing at NAONのYAON 2022 and later in June they will start Zepp Tour with series of show. One band will be at the venue along with NEMOPHILA as their guest musician. The most anticipated show is on the 11 June that includes worldwide live streaming show (check ticket at NEMOPHILA website) and the band that answered to their calling for that show is the one NEMOPHILA opened up for before, the heavy metal legend, LOUDNESS.
NEMOPHILA is pushing forward since the beginning and there is no sign of slowing down in any foreseeable future. 🤘🏻

@@OvDevilz The only thing that I would add, making it even longer, is that Nemophila is scheduled to play at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento this coming October. It is a huge 4-day festival with a pretty amazing lineup. Nemophila will play on Friday, October 7. I hope they decide to do more in the US this fall besides that one festival. Band-maid is also at the festival and then will be doing about a dozen shows across the country. I will be seeing them in Dallas.
@@danw6048 ah yes, it is too far ahead but its confirmed as their first outside of Japan so I should add in that info. Hara-chan's favorite Slipknot will be there along with Mayu's favourite Foo Fighters. Also they will be performing on the same day with KISS, and I hope they will get personal compliments from KISS for the Detroit Rock City cover. Hopefully NEMOPHILA could gather strong crowds and waves of fans - forcing the organizer to push them to the main stage.

The song before that "Reiwa Dating Apps Generation" (a critique of the use of dating apps) starts after the intro at ruclips.net/video/kjxWHQfIi_I/видео.html but the subtitles are more broken at the start, but this song is slightly better in this concert IMHO.
I like how they have songs about mostly mundane subjects, written from their perspective. That and the face-melting music.
Of course if you want better sound quality, go for the MV.

The song is about bullying. They just played at LA's whiskey a go go! and were phenomenal. And yes they are good live maybe better than an MV.

Great reaction to a great new band. I have four suggestions -
1. Do more Nemophila. You have just scratched the surface. Look at their RUclips channel and pick some of their own songs (Revive is a great one) and some of their many covers (their cover of Iron Maiden's Aces High is my favorite).
2. Do more Lovebites. You ain't seen nothing yet with them. Break the Wall is one of their best, and is cowritten by Miho and Miyako.
3. Do more Band-Maid. It has been too long. Their most recent album, Unseen World, is in my personal top 10 of 2021. Find the music video to the song Warning.
4. React to the Hanabie song We Love Sweets. They are a very young band that started as a Maximum the Hormone tribute band in high school. If y'all are familiar with Maximum the Hormone then you have an idea what to expect.

If you like female screamings and growls, you could check Japanese band "Broken by the Scream". There are 4 female vocals - 2 are "clean vocal sections", but 2 are "death metal sections" (one high pitch screams, and the other doing low growls!)... For start recommend song "Sayonara Birthday", but really could do every songs of them!
