Ah, I have to say, having a game chock-full of bad endings and (suspected) antagonists... amuses me greatly. I gotta either get into the series, or just binge watch all the gameplay. Either way, I'm hooked.
Sony Computer Entertainment America and SingleTrac made Calypso pure evil after the original _Twisted Metal_ . In the first game, Calypso would grant the winner of the TM tournament anything they wanted just as long as it didn't go against him, his tournament, and his power, and the original Outlaw was the only one that suffered repercussions of his wish. From _TM2_ onwards, Calypso became more like Satan in the sense of the TM winners having their wishes turn against them, much like devil worshipers selling their souls to Satan for false wealth, power, and influence. Well, the wish DID backfire at Mr. Grimm. Calypso could've rose the number of people born to an equal, so he gets an infinite amount of fresh souls every day... But he didn't. He JUST SIMPLY granted the wish. And then undid it, because with Mr. Grimm as the winner, there would be no next turnament next year... But that is kinda what keeps Calypso alive, if you ask me... Maybe the secret is revealed at any given time...
I have always loved this game's messed up endings. Normally like in the cases of mortal Kombat or later games like Army of Two you just feel cheated when you just get a shit ending, but here it's somehow done so well, I just adore it! This game was a little addiction of mine for awhile in elementary school, where I would always try and unlock as many endings as possible.
You know..Since Axel got his freedom in his ending, I wonder if Calypso gave him a pass for standing up to his father or for willingly ripping his limbs off since he usually screws the wisher over.
I loved that ending with the idiots jumping, and wow seriously that ending with Calypso and his daughter reuniting was somewhat touching, yet I found myself laughing with the LAPD thanking you for stopping Calypso.

@@Noid I can see it now: Calypso visits the residence, and Eugene makes a selfish wish that will destroy their home (let's just say he wishes for a mansion, that if left there, will cause the ground to cave in) Courage uses the computer to look him up, and has to participate in a race to get a wish, and wishes that the previous wish be undone.
I actually felt bad for Calypso in that last ending. Although he may have deserved it for all the pain he has caused, his screams for mercy was very heart-wrenching, especially after learning of his backstory. Needles Kane's ending was bizarre but creepy, too. Imagine him, as a little a insect, creeping within the shadows of your backyard, waiting for the chance to bite your toe off as you step too close. He may even be venomous, more so than the Brazilian Wandering Spider.
Fun fact: He looks more like a centipede, and centipedes, while being venomous, their venom isn't strong enough to harm humans. You'd only feel a little sting, barely stronger than an ant's bite.
Calypso can bring people back to life. The twister (race car) you see in this game is the original driver. She dies and her sister enters the tournaments in a later game in which she wishes for her sister to return.. Her sister (who is killed in this game) returns as wished but as a zombie. So maybe not ALIVE but he cam raise the dead

That would be a very interesting, and sad ending. Imagine reliving the best moments of your life, the times when you lived happily with your family, your love, only to having to return to your lowest, the point where you lost all of them, that made you the horrible man you have become now, having to go back into your twisted, lonely world after getting a reminder of just how sweet your life would have been if it wasn't for that *one* accident. I wonder how the Fangirl would react after finding out Calypso's backstory, assuming she somehow comes back after her death in the accident. One of the big disconnects I had going into Twisted Metal 2 from the original is that Calypso seemed like a totally different person. In the first game he would grant your wish without twisting it, providing you didn't wish to hurt or screw him over personally in some way. In the second one and up he's just completely psychotic.
Not all of them were bad, TBH. Most of drivers' endings were good due to them seeking revenge, which Calypso allowed them to get with no bad twists. Even Sweet Tooth got a good ending in Black, as after he learned he had to stop killing to keep the curse off, he crushed the vial and flat out sliced Calypso's throat open. The only endings I see in Black that count as bad endings are Brimstone, Outlaw, Roadkill, and Yellow Jacket.
Calypso sounds like Luke Valentine from Hellsing- same voice actor...? He does sound a bit like Crispin Freeman sometimes, though. Why didn't Axel just wish to be released from the machine!? Sure, he'd get boned by Calypso somehow, but he doesn't know that yet, and it'd still probably be better than going all the way back to his father and RIPPING HIS ARMS OFF USING NOTHING BUT BRUTE STRENGTH. Calypso didn't actually screw Whittlebone over at all, not even indirectly like some of the others (i.e. granting their wish knowing full well what would happen). He stood up there shouting like a loon and fell off his own building all by himself, Calypso gave him his dream completely uncorrupted XDXD HAHAHAHHAAH, Mortimers ending was the best XDXD

I love how most of the times the character swears revenge, and doesn't actually go for it. Outlaw said they were going to get revenge on him. The next game? No more crime in the world. They both ran out of a job. smh
I found an issue. In the Ken ending, when Calypso covers the Earth with Ken's face, we clearly see that Ken is looking into space. But in the next scene he is looking at the Earth! Did Calypso somehow flip Ken's face or something? Yes, I know, spoilers.
Does anyone else find watching these creepy endings addictive? Almost every night, I watch one of these before I go to bed. My recent nightmare was a giant ice-cream van running over a kiwi bird.

That is not the same Sweet Tooth ending I remember seeing in my Australian version of the game... The ending I saw fits much better with his bio (this is not a direct quote, just similar to what I remember): "When Needles Kane approached me after winning the Twisted Metal tournament, he explained how his greatest joy comes from the fear he brings to others. 'Calypso, grant my wish to be able to bug everyone on a whole new level!' So I granted his wish - now he is the bane of the insect world! HAHAHAHAAA!!!"
You know the loss of a family member is perhaps the greatest mental trauma possible. But Lucas from Mother 3 stayed strong. Also that's no excuse for becoming evil. And he was bad before or he wouldn't of gone to Hell
Well, it's not the fact that calypso was the one that was granting bad wishes to the winner, but it's the winner choosing something that screw them over. The winner didn't think about the consequences.
In Twisted Metal 3 Roadkill is driven by a homeless man. The endings are funny and bad like Minion. His ending he wanted to go back to hell, But Calypso put him in Hell, Michigan a real place that gets cold. And for Outlaw they got screwed again! Then there's Sweet Tooth his ending involved him eating all the candy and ice cream that he ever wanted. He got cavities. Mr. Grim his ending he wants Calypso's soul but instead he gave him his sole of his shoe.
Minion's ending would be the best, just like the "L.A.P.D. thanks you for ending the Twisted Metal" as you do basically the same by guiding Minion with your controller to eventually reaching Calipso and trowing him back to his cell
Wow, seeing this video reminded me that I actually had this game on PS1, so I decided to play it again after about 7 years. It's actually harder than I remember it lol. I killed Minion on easy and was welcomed with a "Wimps can't go beyond this point" message. So it's the same sort of deal as Streets of Rage 3, except there's no bad ending cutscene... I love Calypso. he's such an evil bastard.

Also with Outlaw, its stated in Twisted Metal 1 that he would be drifting in space for all eternity, so its safe to assume Calypso kept him alive to make him suffer

Well, the wish DID backfire at Mr. Grimm. Calypso could've rose the number of people born to an equal, so he gets an infinite amount of fresh souls every day... But he didn't. He JUST SIMPLY granted the wish. And then undid it, because with Mr. Grimm as the winner, there would be no next turnament next year... But that is kinda what keeps Calypso alive, if you ask me... Maybe the secret is revealed at any given time...

I have always loved this game's messed up endings. Normally like in the cases of mortal Kombat or later games like Army of Two you just feel cheated when you just get a shit ending, but here it's somehow done so well, I just adore it! This game was a little addiction of mine for awhile in elementary school, where I would always try and unlock as many endings as possible.
You know..Since Axel got his freedom in his ending, I wonder if Calypso gave him a pass for standing up to his father or for willingly ripping his limbs off since he usually screws the wisher over.
I loved that ending with the idiots jumping, and wow seriously that ending with Calypso and his daughter reuniting was somewhat touching, yet I found myself laughing with the LAPD thanking you for stopping Calypso.

@@Noid I can see it now: Calypso visits the residence, and Eugene makes a selfish wish that will destroy their home (let's just say he wishes for a mansion, that if left there, will cause the ground to cave in) Courage uses the computer to look him up, and has to participate in a race to get a wish, and wishes that the previous wish be undone.
I actually felt bad for Calypso in that last ending. Although he may have deserved it for all the pain he has caused, his screams for mercy was very heart-wrenching, especially after learning of his backstory.
Needles Kane's ending was bizarre but creepy, too. Imagine him, as a little a insect, creeping within the shadows of your backyard, waiting for the chance to bite your toe off as you step too close. He may even be venomous, more so than the Brazilian Wandering Spider.

Calypso can bring people back to life. The twister (race car) you see in this game is the original driver. She dies and her sister enters the tournaments in a later game in which she wishes for her sister to return.. Her sister (who is killed in this game) returns as wished but as a zombie. So maybe not ALIVE but he cam raise the dead

Imagine reliving the best moments of your life, the times when you lived happily with your family, your love, only to having to return to your lowest, the point where you lost all of them, that made you the horrible man you have become now, having to go back into your twisted, lonely world after getting a reminder of just how sweet your life would have been if it wasn't for that *one* accident.
I wonder how the Fangirl would react after finding out Calypso's backstory, assuming she somehow comes back after her death in the accident.

One of the big disconnects I had going into Twisted Metal 2 from the original is that Calypso seemed like a totally different person. In the first game he would grant your wish without twisting it, providing you didn't wish to hurt or screw him over personally in some way. In the second one and up he's just completely psychotic.

You should do a Creepy Bad Endings for Twisted Metal: Black, because the endings in that game were messed up, with a capital M.
Not all of them were bad, TBH. Most of drivers' endings were good due to them seeking revenge, which Calypso allowed them to get with no bad twists. Even Sweet Tooth got a good ending in Black, as after he learned he had to stop killing to keep the curse off, he crushed the vial and flat out sliced Calypso's throat open. The only endings I see in Black that count as bad endings are Brimstone, Outlaw, Roadkill, and Yellow Jacket.

Why didn't Axel just wish to be released from the machine!? Sure, he'd get boned by Calypso somehow, but he doesn't know that yet, and it'd still probably be better than going all the way back to his father and RIPPING HIS ARMS OFF USING NOTHING BUT BRUTE STRENGTH.
Calypso didn't actually screw Whittlebone over at all, not even indirectly like some of the others (i.e. granting their wish knowing full well what would happen). He stood up there shouting like a loon and fell off his own building all by himself, Calypso gave him his dream completely uncorrupted XDXD

I love how most of the times the character swears revenge, and doesn't actually go for it. Outlaw said they were going to get revenge on him. The next game? No more crime in the world. They both ran out of a job. smh

I found an issue. In the Ken ending, when Calypso covers the Earth with Ken's face, we clearly see that Ken is looking into space. But in the next scene he is looking at the Earth! Did Calypso somehow flip Ken's face or something?

That is not the same Sweet Tooth ending I remember seeing in my Australian version of the game... The ending I saw fits much better with his bio (this is not a direct quote, just similar to what I remember): "When Needles Kane approached me after winning the Twisted Metal tournament, he explained how his greatest joy comes from the fear he brings to others. 'Calypso, grant my wish to be able to bug everyone on a whole new level!' So I granted his wish - now he is the bane of the insect world! HAHAHAHAAA!!!"

Well, it's not the fact that calypso was the one that was granting bad wishes to the winner, but it's the winner choosing something that screw them over. The winner didn't think about the consequences.
In Twisted Metal 3 Roadkill is driven by a homeless man. The endings are funny and bad like Minion. His ending he wanted to go back to hell, But Calypso put him in Hell, Michigan a real place that gets cold. And for Outlaw they got screwed again! Then there's Sweet Tooth his ending involved him eating all the candy and ice cream that he ever wanted. He got cavities. Mr. Grim his ending he wants Calypso's soul but instead he gave him his sole of his shoe.

Minion's ending would be the best, just like the "L.A.P.D. thanks you for ending the Twisted Metal" as you do basically the same by guiding Minion with your controller to eventually reaching Calipso and trowing him back to his cell

Wow, seeing this video reminded me that I actually had this game on PS1, so I decided to play it again after about 7 years. It's actually harder than I remember it lol. I killed Minion on easy and was welcomed with a "Wimps can't go beyond this point" message. So it's the same sort of deal as Streets of Rage 3, except there's no bad ending cutscene...

Also with Outlaw, its stated in Twisted Metal 1 that he would be drifting in space for all eternity, so its safe to assume Calypso kept him alive to make him suffer
