- Comparing spectator shoes from Allen Edmonds and Carmina Shoemaker. We compare the Allen Edmonds Broadstreet with the Carmina Spectator 814 on Forest last.
I look at three main differences between the shoes:
1. The shape of the shoes (lasts)
2. Small details in the shoes
3. Soles
These shoes are no longer produced but some sizes of the Carminas can be found here:

The Allen Edmonds Broadstreet can be found on eBay from time to time.

Carlon, this is a good side to side review. I would pay extra for the Carmina one
Dexter McDade thank you!
Thanks for the video! Not a lot of videos about spectators. Especially comparing them.
Might I recommend brighter lighting from the front? Some of the details are harder to pick up on the black of the shoes.
Thanks for the comments. Glad you liked the video. The more light from the front is definitely something I’m working on for upcoming videos.
I love how the white pops out under the black brouging. Carmina outdid themselves on this one. I do own the AEs. Got em for 100 bucks so can't go wrong with those.
You can’t go wrong for $100! Nice pickup.
I think the single row stitching on the Carmina really helps elevate it over the Allen Edmonds, very sleek.
Yes, the Carmina does have a much sleeker profile.
Lighting not that good but great comparison none the less. The Carmina brand has evolved and is such an elegant shoe. There were more comparison that could have been made. Maybe use a shoe tree to stretch out the warn shoe when comparing to a new shoe. I appreciate the video thanks man.
You’re welcome. Glad you liked it. I have also added since then a Cobbler Union spectator that would be interesting to compare.
I own the AE in brown and white which I find more versatile than black on white and the AE are made in the USA. The examples u show are both equally 'elegant' as much as spectators can be IMHO, let's not forget the spectators were about 'correspondents' , rebellion and the Jazz Age, yeah.....
As the story goes...I ended up getting the Cobbler Union spectator in brown and white. I agree that it’s more versatile. But the thing I enjoy about comparing shoes like this is that when they are both quality shoes, you can enjoy the different designs. I don’t think anyone would be unhappy with either of these shoes.
@@TheShoeEnthusiast I fully agree with you, I intend to pick up a pair of cobbler union's also! they seem awesome!
I prefer the AE design. Like their McAllister it has a more vintage line to them. Carmina has a more modern or fresher look if I may say. Either way you can’t go wrong.
On the sole comparison is clearly visible how much slimmer the heel and the whole silhouette on the Carmina’s is. I really dislike the “welted heels” on Ellen Edmonds.
I’ve been searching for a mid/ high end pair of this style of shoe for so long can anyone provide any help? thanks
I recommend Cobbler Union spectator shoes which is in my profile pic
How to order pi
Clearly Carmina is the winner
how to polish this shoes ?
Neutral cream polish
Carmina looks way better
I had severe problems listening. I am not trying to be disrespectful.
I created an updated version with better audio. Thank you for your feedback
I dropped an updated version with better sound. Hope that helps
