Incase you missed my Twitter/FB/JonnyAtma.com announcement, I am bringing back 7 classic GaMetal songs within the next 2 weeks, completely re-recorded. I figured this is a way better option to re-uploading my old remixes out of no where, which sound like crap compared to the current stuff.
Battle With Magus was the 11th official GaMetal song all the way back at the beginning of 2010. It was originally going to be my comeback song in 2013 instead of Don't Be Afraid, but I went with DBA at the last minute. It's also the first song I ever made in Pro Tools.
I almost didn't do this song for this 7 song event, I originally planned for it, then scrapped it, then brought it back. I've been getting a lot of Chrono Trigger requests lately so I thought it'd be a great opener.

If ONLY you somehow included the background whistle in this theme. That was the true cherry.
Regardless though, holy effin wow!! A lot of your remixed, instrumental themes make me excited, hard, cry and grit my teeth all at once...! Thank you! Thank you for ALL of the homage instrumental remixes you've done. EVERY single one of them. It's what some of us have been wondering and somewhat craving since all of us (you included) have wanted ever since being exposed to masterpiece works of creativity. You expand on this. Bro it sounds like something that would be straight out of a Metallica song or Avenged Sevenfold
One thing I will say first is that this is an excellent cover... but it misses one of the key parts in the intro section and i see it happening all the time. It's missing the howling of the Black Winds, the little whooshing sound near the very beginning. I know it's a very trifling detail that shouldn't matter but I feel it's kind of necessary to feel authentic to Magus' character. either then that minuscule detail this is absolutely phenomenal and wicked sick, keep up the good work.

For some reason I am only just watching this. I know keyboard isnt the most glamorous instrument to some musicians, but I'd wager anyone who looked down on it couldn't even come close to what you can do on one. Nice job as always.
Schala's theme or the Zeal theme might make a neat sort of atmospheric breakdown piece, like a movement within a larger song. Like in Glass Prison with its variations.
Favorite Chrono Trigger song? Why just one? All three of Lavos' themes (Day of Lavos, World Revolution, Core of Lavos) kick some serious butt, and if you ask me, they're great examples of what final boss themes should sound like.
As for suggestions, how about representing Kid Icarus: Uprising some more? Lightning Battle is pretty much metal already, but it'd be interesting to hear your take on Thunder Cloud Temple (more metal) or Aurum Island (more jazz/SWAGGER).

Chrono Trigger deserves more love. The like count proves that. BTW, my favorite track is Corridors of Time, or Zeal Kingdom. But this one is a close second.

This was super rad and I would die to hear you do a full cover of Yearnings of the wind after hearing that beautiful short snippet at the end.
Jonny, I've been a fan of yours for a long time and it would mean more than you know if you did a remix of the various phases of the Cackletta battle. Keep up the amazing work!
Awesome remake, your sound is most definitely improved and still improving. The drums are more crisp and clearer than ever, the bass lines are getting loudly intense like in 'The Armory' from Mortal Kombat 2, or just in general bass lines from many many great metal bands of all kinds. It fuels my brain and is worth more than money could ever buy. I really would love to play an 8-bit NES based Jonny Atma game where you obtain power ups for the guitar notes to destroy enemies with and what not. Then after that, a 16-bit, then a 64-bit, and so on. I would play the shit out of such games. But hey, such things are easily possible with the technology available these days XD
