Neil me and my son (getting 3) are riding something similar to this for around 1.5 years now and he can definitely fall asleep on it :D it’s just more a problem than on casual seats because you have to hold him. My biggest point is, not especially on you because I think you got one, get your kids a goggle. Everything is hitting them straight up in the face little insects as well as dirt and stones. and especially for people who don’t ride with mud guards. And if you’re going a bit faster they get a lot of wind in their eyes too which isn’t really good for them..
Used to love taking my kids out when they were younger on a Wee Ride. You do have to take it steady as I got a bit carried away one day and my daughter was sick all over me!
Picked one up last year, it was amazing fun. We did some blues and blacks (no jumps lol) it was solid. One thing I've learned, sitting with his knees in the same position for a long time it's a good idea to get him to stand up from time to time. Also for the gnarlier trails, knee pads keep his knees safe from hitting the top tube. We also didn't mount the additional handles for this year, he likes to hold my bars more.
My kid is 5, can ride her own bike, and she still asks to get on the Shotgun to do berms and pumps. Thankfully she is a skinny little thing! Its expensive but unique. I leave the handlebars on when I ride alone, and other people come and ask "are those little handelbars for better leverage?"...I say yes, try it.
for better leverage, it's scary how stupid people are .. I wouldn't be putting my kids on it unless I was riding really easy .. Just think if you fell in them . especially me being 230lbs .
I bought one of these and my daughter absolutely loves it had a balance bike since Christmas and never wanted to go on it but now she’s been on my bike she love her bike and can’t get her of it! Would highly recommend the shotgun seat.
Used to ride around on my dad's top tube like this as a kid. Still remember shredding my bare foot in the front wheel. Loved it besides that, just keep the shoes on if you try it!
Tyke Toter is a quick release clamp on your seat post and a velcro foot rest on the downtube. Super easy to take on and off, I've even taken mine off mid-ride to jump a gap while my kid watched! Much more simple to use and I love mine, had my older boy on there at 2 and younger boy started riding about the time he could sit up on his own. Easy to squeeze their hips with your knees for support when needed
You probably realised this after but better to have the kid's saddle level with the ground, like yours. This thing is awesome. My two year old loved it immediately. It's expensive, yes, but it's good quality and worth it for the experience. My kid loved the 'shred til bed' cartoon MTB stickers too haha.
There is not many things better than hitting the trails with ya kids.. what a cool instrument to get them out there early, before they can ride one of their own. Great vid.
Best thing I ever did was to buy a shotgun. My bloke loves it and we get into it almost every weekend, it even came to Whistler with us last year. If your thinking about getting one don't think just get one.
This was an awesome investment a couple of years ago to go from a rear seat when my lad was tiny to the front was awesome and a hell of a lot easier on me. My boy is now a bit too big at almost 5 and 19kg so have to break it to him now that he has to ride his own bike and not Dad's. I didn't opt for the extra handlebars and just had him hold my bars and never had a problem. Also didn't go the footstraps. It looks like they have made a few improvements since mine too.
Exact same boat here, with an 18 month old. Would you mind sharing the age you switched to the shotgun, and how well the transition went? Did you do pavement riding or just trail?
@@mattkeller5388 My boy is just about to swap over to the Shotgun, it's more about weight and height than age. He's 2 1/2 years old. I think he will tire quicker until he's used to it wmso will probably do short rides to begin with. Used mostly on canal towpaths and byways 👍
You should check out the MacRide. I would say its a better option. Install/Remove easier and offers more saddle support. Does not touch the frame. We ride all kinds of singletrack with my little girl.
I've got one of these seats and they are fantastic. One tip though if you want the little handlebars is to not bother with the £27 shotgun ones. instead get a bike light + accessories holder bar from eBay. Exactly the same but is £6. Then cut an old grip in half to make grips for it
Thanks Mike, the e-bay handlebar accessory holder might look the same, but we tried that back in the early days with my son and snapped the clamps clean in half. Our shotgun bars are a different design which is much stronger. Cheers, Dan
Been waiting over a month for mine now and now been told the handle bars won’t be coming with the seat ! I wouldn’t order one for quite a few months now if I was you
Sorry to hear that Tom! We have shipping delays of 2-4 weeks in most markets, but haven't seen anyone wait more than a month - if you can shot me a message with your order number we'll check it out. Cheers, Dan
my son and I LOVE our shotgun seat. I strap his balance bike to my back and take that out to the trails too so he can do some trail riding himself. Then when he gets tired back on the shotgun we go and head back to the car.
So how did you protect your lower frame from that Bolt for the feet scratching the crap out of the bottom of the bike? Found that once my kid put her feet down it put pressure on the bolt against the bottom tube.
Fun fact about the term shotgun, back in the old horse carriage days there would be 2 people up front; the driver and the shotgun, basically a guy with a literal shotgun to defend the carriage from bandits or animals trying to attack them.
Is there a weight limit for these please? My son is only 3 but is tall and heavy for his age so not sure how he would get on using this. I'm torn between this and a WeeRide co-pilot tag along setup. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Good spot. I'm currently trying to decide between the two. I'd imagine that given he paid for the mac ride it is probably his favoured option. I'm leaning that way due to extendable foot rests. It is more money though.
Great video man. I wanted to buy my son AJ this seat and he’s just coming up to 18 months. Decided to get a proper strap in Yepp mini for a year then upgrade to this or the Mac ride next summer! It’s even better on the e-bike 😎👍🏻
wouldn't you want to try making the kid's seat parallel to the adult seat instead of the top tube? i think when you put the bike down on the ground you'll see that it needs more adjustment
When I saw the price tag on this I was a bit of disappointed. I let it be. Few days ago I took my son on a ride. He did have a helmet but was sitting only on the top tube with his legs on the fork's crown. I was not doing anything crazy and I was paying attention all the time. But .. damn, he loved the ride. I guess you can put price on child's smile sometimes. ;-) Ordered one, I'm looking forward to show him some easy trails.
I recently bought this seat. I am very satisfied with the seat, but there are also a few negative points. First of all, I find the seat too expensive. The quality is great, but around 160 euros is just too much. In addition, mounting on new mtb frames is not quite as easy as in advertising. The seat also does not fit on eBikes! In addition, the child can fly over the handlebars doing strong brakes.
That's what I'm thinking too, the kids might fly over sudden stops and the toe straps won't prevent that. Before watching the video, I thought the seat was like a bucket seat. Like what Martyn has on his bike, secured with a seat strap/belt and all.
Easy, just don't break! ..on a more serious note, totally agree with you and I have no plans of buying one of these for my kids. But it do look fun, just don't trust myself enough to bring the kids along on trail. And on gravel the normal kids seat is just enough..
I think a video of Neil and Blake with their little men out for a ride like this would be AWESOME!!!
Instablaster
Dad gets to ride his bike and wife gets a break from the kids, which is a win win
Had no reason to watch this but just enjoy watching Neil explain stuff😂
Yup me too
👍 then I shall explain
Neil Donoghue 😂 love the channel
Bought it a year ago and I'm fully satisfied. Probably the best purchase for my bike ever. Recommended!
Thanks mate that's great to hear!
The "yep.." after reading the not for stunts, drops and advanced trails disclaimer at 2:16 😂
Gmbn's kids are amazing
13:33 if your kid can fall asleep during the ride, that's your fault for going too slow :D
Think this is the most exited I've ever seen Neil 😂😂 You love to see it 🤙

I put identical grips on the shotgun bars as my own. Bairn loved it
my dad had this in '94

Neil explains basic parenting, awesome video!
Pretty much bought it straight away after seeing an add for it. No regrets. Its a win win for kids and parents.
Used to ride around on my dad's top tube like this as a kid. Still remember shredding my bare foot in the front wheel. Loved it besides that, just keep the shoes on if you try it!
My kiddo is 14 and becoming a proper mtb rider on his own, but way back when he was wee small he would have loved this!!
Finally something that gets Neil excited!! :-) Little man is happy and excited. Will be learning from the best to ride like a pro in no time!!
Wish that was around 30 years ago ,your man looked like having so much fun.
Super sick! I have a young niece that will enjoy this type of riding. Thanks for the inspiration Neil. You have a beautiful family mate!
Lets go! Another fantastic video from the boys over at GMBN !!! 💪🚵♀️
"Not for racing, stunts, drop offs or advanced trails"
"TO THE SKY!!!"
These are great my wee man started with the wee ride seat and he's now a super obsessed 7 year old mountain bike fanatic!

Best advice for that was plan your ride around nap times. Took my kid on a 20km ride around our city park, I was holding him up by the end of it.
smart advice. wow, nap times...i totally forgot how much they rule you life with the little ones!
I just picked up a Mac ride for my daughter. It was a little more expensive, but I like that there is no frame contact.
I have a Mac ride and my boy loves it. You don’t have to clamp it on your frame and you cane remove it quicker. Better IMO

OMG!!! love it! its like, you are introducing them to the sport, spending time with them and! why not, having a lot of fun! scary, but fun!!
Wished I knew about these when my kids were little.
I bought one months ago and was the best move after a Thule Yepp Next Mini 👌 My daughter loves it and we go out cycling all the time together 😁🥰

Very quirky

Just ordered one based off this video 195€ with the handle bars little bit of the expensive side but sure kids will love it
13:13, how you get that camera angle? GoPro mounted on a helmet? How? What's kind of mounts? The long curved ones?
Awesome. Your video helped me to install mine! Thanks.
How did you get yours already? I've been waiting for mine or I guess I should say my grandsons for about a month.
Really nice assembly instructions

Almost makes me want to have a kid haha
Looks like a faff to take on/off compared to the Mac-ride, how does it compare as I can see the stem mount for it? :)
hi guys, where should I upload my videos to be shown by GMBN (as you GMBN is doing with home videos during covid) thanks

Hi Paul, the maximum weight for the system is 22kg/48lbs
How long will your son ride before he is tired holding himself up?
no dropper?
I noticed you had a spacer for the mac ride as well. Which do you like better?
Good spot. I'm currently trying to decide between the two. I'd imagine that given he paid for the mac ride it is probably his favoured option. I'm leaning that way due to extendable foot rests. It is more money though.

Does it come with a gum shield?
Hello , I am from india ... Mumbai how I can bye this seet bro ... Pls reply must ... Thanku ... God bless u
I saw some geezer do the red descent at Whinlatter with his daughter on the front before Christmas 😂😂
thank u for sharing
Any suggestions how to fix this seat when u have break and gear cables on the front top tube
More dad and kid videos! 🤘
I'm suprised the wife trusted you with him on the bike....lol.. Cool bit of kit
Could you compare it with a Mac Ride?
any recommendations for a much cheaper mtb kids seats like in amazon maybe?
Maybe don't...
Check "weeride" i use it with my son he loves it 👍
90€
Please dont skimp money on your child’s safety, it’s your kid!
14:07 look at his little cute face, probably saying Megavalanche and Mountain of Hell here I come.
What is the weight limit for the 29in?
That’s sick
Shouldn’t the seat be level? Looks epic though.
Awesome !
if that was a bumby trail, you're taking a helmet to the chin man
Oof
Wouldn’t this thing scratch/run your frame over time?
Oh nvm (I’ll watch to the end of the vid before firing off my questions 😅)
I ruined my sleep schedule to watch these at 3 in the morning but it's totally worth it
Now I get what Martin is talking about with new seat for his bike, it's the new tandem

Can you guys do a review of the mac ride child seat
I have one and it’s awesome. Ridiculously good design.
12:44 Is it me or it just that the handlebars are a bit off-center on most mountain and downhill bikes?.
wide angle makes everything distorted, the closer to the edge the stronger the effect. Bars are perfectly in center :D
