Lo, just came across your channel. Owning a Morris Marina and working on it {in a virtual Hurricane}. Brave woman. I had a Marina Back i the day. Spent hours and bucks trying to keep it rust free. Lost that particular battle. All part of life's experience.Happy days. Just looking at part 2 of this. Interesting.👍
Hi Alex, I have to admire your patience and tenacity as that is not the easist job in the world to do on the floor. It was a bit ironic that you said you didn't want to make yourself ill which was your reason for the hat. You still ended up ill, sitting on a damp cold surface doesn't help, I know, I've been there in the past. You ought to have made yourself some hot soup in a flask, Oxtail or Chicken is best for nourishment and keeping the cold at bay. 🙂 What you said about no spring on the front suspension, is that common on all the Marina range? I've not heard of that before... I'll look forward to Part 2. As ever, take care, Jon B. x
I have had the front wheel bearings fail on a drum braked Marina causing the car to lose the wheel, also had the same with an Allegro as they are the same. I have a TR7 now and guess what? Yep the same but have not had those fail - yet lol, but the outer one is tiny compared to most other rwd cars. If they are set up right and greased properly they will be fine, dont forget the trunnions need a reguar greasing too.
Ah, you've discovered the third stage of tight, in order they are 1) tight, 2) FT and 3) W*DTU. I think quite a few people have bought lidl's parkside ugga-dugga. Mine's faulty, wouldn't spin the skin off a rice pudding.....but their cordless ratchet is handy.
If you had turned the steering wheel right hand down Alex you would have had more room to get at the Calliper bolts, then you could have used you long bar on them, just saying.
@Alexsassets I did watch the whole video, it just didn't look like you had when you was struggling with the caliper bolts, but it did from a different angle after you had got them out, just constructive criticism for a time served 50+ years expireanced mechanic who has done the very same job hundreds of times 😘
@Alexsassets ohh I know what they are like !!, as I said iv done hundreds of marines in my time + most other cars and trucks on the road, I remember when the marine first came out and we all looked and said "oh no not more trunions" lol, any advice you need just ask !!.
YOu deserve a medal Alex for tackling that job in that weather.
great blog as all ways keep them coming Gary from Crewe

God...that looks a bit nippy! Well done you!
Nice work Alex, shame about our weather. Same suspension set up on the Morris 1000's.
The front suspension is a torsion bar system like on the morris 1000. There is a spring but it looks like a steel bar
1:54 Oh, that's a fancy socket!
Looking forward to part II !
Another nice video Alex relaxing with a cup of Yorkshire tea now Christmas is out of the way lol.
Thank goodness lol
Time you got yorself a whizz popper (nut gun ) to every one els 😂 happy new year 🛠️🤠

Ewww no thanks. I'm vegetarian 😆 .
Yes the irony. I got ill anyway lol
@Alexsassets Ah, sorry, forgot you're a vegetarian, in that case a good thick minestrone soup should tick your box then...😁
Some action from Timmy coming up in part two I see 😊

Most issues people had were the bearings being overtightened.

The bearing went on my washing machine drum. I just got a new washing machine......😂
😱
@Alexsassets The washing machine was 20 years old & on its last legs though....😸👍
I researched this and that's why we bought a Samsung cos the bearing is replaceable ......
Hi Alex will you do any of the rust on the bodywork?
What rust?
Have you thought about getting a large heated workshop? Maybe one with lots of those fancy red toolboxes and a lift. 😅
Haha yes..... yes i have
Haven't we all.....🙄

If you watched the whole video you would of seen that i turned the steering right hand down to help undo. Just saying.
@@Alexsassets had to smile

@billhammond9470 thanks 😄. Not much of a lock on the Marina 😄 wheel arch in the way too much to get a bar on.
