I am loving the new "old" sound! I've been a fan from the 1900's.
I loved their 1908 steamboat tour!!
It is a great blend of classic Switchfoot sounds like Legend of Chin, New Way to be Human, Learning to Breathe, while still feeling fresh and new.
Old Switchfoot is back & super STOKED.
I got some serious goosebumps when that first chorus kicks in. No disrespect to the most recent albums, but this song just has that classic, rockin' Switchfoot sound. What a gift to wake up to this morning!

This doesn't have that overdeveloped "studio" feel that has plagued some of your recent albums (not that they've been bad; it's just that it detracts somewhat from the feeling of authenticity that a less perfect song can convey so much more effectively). Instead, it feels raw and unrefined, which ironically makes it infinitely better sonically. Not to mention that lyrically, the imagery of a fluorescent light shining in darkness being used as a metaphor for our capacity to preach God's Word into this dark and fallen world is fascinating (or at least that's what I got out of the metaphor, though I've only listened to the song once and did so without checking the lyrics to make sure I understood). I missed this classic style, and I'm glad to see you're returning to it! God bless you guys!
As more people said, I love this new “old” sound of Switchfoot. I especially love the growl that Jon makes at 2:49. I didn’t hear that for a long time on previous albums. I hope this new album has more of those rocky tunes! Can’t wait for the album to drop at August 20th!

I absolutely love Fluorescent! It is possibly my favorite track from the last few records. It reminds me of Switchfoot's Vice Verses or Hello Hurricane era stuff, but also sounds fresh and is masterfully produced. I can't wait for the new record!

I love how Switchfoot is so good at finding that line of keeping to their roots while trying new stuff. Most bands either stagnate into irrelevance or worse yet constantly conform into the current trend. Thanks for being different.

Dang - Love the production, vibe, everything. I grew up on SF but stopped listening after HH when things got a little too over polished radio-y for my taste (but still listened to the solo stuff of Jon's). This is makes me want to jump back in! Can't wait to hear the rest!
You can def hear Tony Berg's production, hype that they're working with such a great producer. I like a lot of the songs off the past two, but they were def too "slick" on the album versions.
