It didnt work out because of Jleague/tokyo council side which dragged it on… alongside how Yomiuri ownership ran the club eventually ruined the club completely then they pulled out from owning Verdy.. (The youth academy and Beleza Womens team were the only ones not completely toasted by Yomiuri.) After 15/16 years Verdys back in J1 and performing fairly well! Enough to bring in more fans new and old alongside being competitive enough to at least remain in J1 for another season.(still mid season but you get what i mean.)

去年の令和元年9月に柏で初めてヴェルディ川崎そのものを目の当たりにしたが、試合は柏の圧勝。試合結果も去ることながら、アウェイ側のゴール裏の観客席の右側はまだ空席があった。その時に思ったのが「えっ、これがあのヴェルディ川崎？」と思わず声に出した。
読売クラブの創設メンバーが主審をやっていて、ホームアンドアウェーのハズが２試合ともヴェルディのホームで行われたという日本サッカー史上に残る汚点とも言える試合だな・・・
ジーコの唾はきはそういうの含めた皮肉が込められてた。もちろん許されることじゃないけど一概にジーコだけ叩く空気は嫌いだった。
