Helpful review, as usual, but the Topping D30 Pro/A30 Pro combo is not "a little bit more". It's $750 versus $480. That's a $270 difference, enough for a respectable pair of headphones.
For real, Josh is really out of touch with the average consumer with the value proposition sometimes lmao. Just because someone is willing to pay $500 for something, doesn't mean theyre willing to spend 50% more just because it costs only 50% more. Not like its $50 vs $75
@@cael1884 Price ranges are neat catagories that make reviewers lives easier in comparing different products their reviewing, that's all. In the real world, most people who are looking to spend $500 on equipment aren't going to spend $750 instead because its "in the same price range". They'll pay $750 if they think that product at $750 is worth spending a lot extra for to be happy in comparison to the $500 product.
I'm not buying the most expensive of two headphones, for example, because a reviewer says a $750 headphone has better bass response than a $500 headphone, when all other things are equal (I know comparisons are almost never this 1:1, just for arguments sake). $250 could go towards my DAC budget, or towards really good extra pads and cables, or towards IEMs, or towards better furniture to display your audio setup which might matter to you, etc. It might be worth it to you or Josh, but the fact he can't see that other consumer's use case unless it's brought up to him as a video topic is a definite blindspot in his reviews

There are no strict rules here. I know of people who are perfectly happy using a 1600$ Hifiman Arya with the sub 500$ Xduoo Xa10. One may argue that if they can afford a 1600$ headphone they could surely afford a 750$ Topping Stack like D30 Pro+A30 Pro. However, since they are perfectly happy with the sound output of Xduoo XA10 why should they overspend 270$?
On a side note, one of my acquaintances who owned the Xduoo XA10 actually compared the synergy of the XA10 with Arya with the synergy of the D30 Pro+A30 Pro stack with Arya and vastly preferred the former.
At least now we know that Josh loves UPS device shape.
The problem with this review is that the logic of Joshua is very faulty. D30 Pro+A30 Pro from Topping is not in the same ballpark of Xduoo Xa 10 when it comes to price. It is 750$ vs 480$ and the 270$ difference is not minuscule. Secondly, the Topping combo according to Joshua is only around 5% better than the Xduoo Xa 10. An all in one device that reaches 95% close to the sound quality of a mid-fi stack (D30 Pro+A30 Pro) that costs more than 150% of the all in one's cost is no small achievement.
Then, there is the issue of measurements. Even according to ASR, who is the king of measurements, a lot of measurement differences may not really contribute to any audible differences....
In fact, I have interacted with an individual who vastly preferred the sound signature of the Xduoo over the D30 Pro+ A30 Pro when it came to a Hifiman planar like Arya.

IDK, the title makes it seems like the XA-10 has some huge downside even though it compares well to a sperate dac/amp combo 1.54x its price.
Well the topping e30 and l30 measure almost as well and cost 250. You can also get them in different colours.

@@8lec_R of course the A30/D30 pro is probably a little cleaner but no Bluetooth no Mqa and in the Uk would cost £750 vs the £276 i paid for the XA-10 for 5% less clarity no brainer

I actually own the XDuuo XA-10 and decided to place it on my nightstand next to my bed ... with my Focal Celestees hanging next to it. Since the Celestees are closed-back, this is a great setup for me to listen to while on my bed so as to not disturb my wife.
This combination is superb! The DAC sounds great and the amplifier has tons of power. With my Celestees ... music is so engaging and enveloping. Such a great, convenient setup that sounds great!

Xduoo MT-602 and MT-604 are *wonderful* performing headphone amps. They are tube hybrid units single ended and balanced respectively. $99 and $169 respectively.
Coming from a Fiio K5pro that I was very impressed with I was fascinated by the look and excellent reviews of Xduoo amps. I took the plunge and went straight to the top and got the TA-30. I use it to power my HD800s and HD6XX. I can say without a doubt Xudoo makes excellent sounding dac/amp combos. I would love to hear some of their entry models.
How does the sound color xa10 or ta30 provide compare with k5pro? I have k5pro and it provides a neutral to tiny warmer sound to HD800s, than Monoloth thx aaa 788 which provides super neutral sound but more powerful. And I realize that the HD800s doesn't perform well on 788 as it is a lil bit weak in bass(at least to me; and I've tried arya but it brings a lil bit too much bass to me😅I'm weird). Would you suggest me to switch to Xduoo products? People say that tube amp might provide warmer and sweeter sound might help HD800s for better bass and female voice sound.
@@wangvictoria2210 the difference going from Fiio to TA30 is night and day. It's in a whole other stratosphere of clarity, detail and musicality. Once you hear it you'll never go back to the Fiio. Fiio is great start point but if you really want to hear what your HD800S are capable of upgrading to TA30 is what I highly recommend. It's definitely more expensive but the cost is easily justified when you consider the price of the HD800S. 😉 Don't forget to burn in the TA30 if you get one. Also you can replace the tubes very affordablely and get even more performance and clarity from the TA30
@@ClintAvila Thank you so much sir! I'm wondering if TA30 has a balanced output at the front face, that's why I'm struggling between a TA30 or XA10. So far I know TA30 is more powerful. BTW, would you mind to say, is a balanced output necessary? Or at least in our budget stage, for TA30. I can hear somewhat difference between SE and Balanced sound on the monolith amp, but not that kind of incredible gap.😂
@@wangvictoria2210 the TA30 is designed for maximum performance. It's still their top amp. I don't think a balanced output would have enough improvement to justify. I think that is why Xduoo chose this design. I read others who own it along with the HD800S say they prefer the sound over highly regarded balanced solid state amps. Like I said it's a great match for the Sennheisers. Both HD800S and HD6XX. And the power is outstanding. Very strong performer

🌟This is an underrated gem. Has some issues. But , it has a class A stage. Has great Bluetooth via headphones. Aux out is not great, it's ok, imo, so headphones only. Sound is dynamic and musical. Bass has kick. Listening to some music , sound comes from all directions, like a fireworks display. Almost tube like. It can be found on sale. I own other topping and smsl amps. I mostly use with akg 712pro which is a good pairing. Make sure firmware is latest version.
I thought about buying XA-10 as a replacement for my FiiO K5 Pro after the digital circuits died on me, but first opted for the Topping E30/L30 stack (due to limited space) and then the A50s/D50s stack, which actually fits neatly in the same space.
However, I agree with you when you wish that manufacturers would make all-in-one devices instead of these stacks which need two separate power supplies. (And as an aside, Topping does this weird thing with an AC adaptor for the amp, but USB power for the DAC.)
I'm looking for a all in one as well and the SMSL M500 might be interesting to you as it has the same form factor, but I'm more interested in the Sabaj D5.

I’ve been eyeing that amp for a couple months now..I’ve never owned anything from xduoo before tho and don’t know how I’d like their house sound when it comes to tubes specifically. Have you filled the tubes or op amp yet?
@@davidcoons89 I’ve run mine totally stock ..however, Cheap Audio Man and Zeos both love theirs BUT the gain is set at 15 db ..so as long as you have a volume switch before you get to the input ..👍 Then use the separate L/R volume controls as true balance adjustment.

This could kick ass with a linear power supply along with great cables.
You want a long, flat design to dissipate heat. You don't want to have to pay for inefficient heat dispersion with reduced output. A fan just isn't an option for most consumer uses. If I hate how an amp looks, I'll get longer cords and hide it. But the reason some designs are ubiquitous is because nothing else makes good sense.
The SMSL M500 has a similar form factor and is a Dac/amp in 1.
Didnt mention its class A power? Full Mqa decoder? With so few reviews on this would of expected your usual quality in the details rather than a full review comparison to the far more expensive stack....
What does it sound like bass/mids? Glad it sounded killer on your planars though 👍
If they had a non-MQA version that cost less, then we’d be cooking with gas.

I got the lcd-x new revision and imo they still need some eq to sound great, but without eq they still sound good

How would this amp compare to RNHP amp ? I have smsl d300 dac with smsl sh 8s amp and my primary headphones are lsa hp 2 ( kennerton gh50) and thinking about trying either new amp like RNHP or maybe this xduoo xa 10 for more dynamic punchy sound . What would you recommend ?

Ive watched ALOT of these videos and this is the first time it felt shilly talking about Topping. There is considerable savings which is the trade off of sound quality - except this is an all in one instead of a stack. Not every one wants to double their cables either.
Thanks - and I agree on the looks. One question: is the volume knob really turning or is it more like a touch sensitive area?? In one shot it looked as if it wasn't moving while you were adjusting the volume.

Perhaps that glare is the difference in the AKM and Cirrus Logic chips between the two setups. My experience with the newer AKM's has been that they tend to have some of that.
I had trouble getting one of their us vendors to honor a warranty repair. I emailed them and got nothing back. If it wasn't for the intervention of a RUclips reviewer I would have had to eat a $400 mess. I simply don't trust their support here however some people with good reputations like DROP would probably do better.

Josh…what’s happened to you? You should know better than to regurgitate measurements as a basis for “sound quality”. And why don’t you guys ever investigate power output claims? The XA10 and all of the Topping /SMSL stuff measures LOWER power than what they claim. You’re literally telling people to spend more money on gear that doesn’t even live up to the reason you’re telling them to spend the extra cash. And, I’m so disappointed in you, DMS, and all the rest constantly making conclusions without doing A/B/X tests, without telling us exactly what you did and how you did it, and without delving into comparisons. I loved your older content but you’ve clearly made a choice to get viewer clicks instead of deep, factual treatment of gear. I suppose when you’re making enough money, you can compromise on content. Too bad.
